I wish I got the servers name because she did amazing. We sat in the bar area and had no clue they had happy hour queso we just ordered it. The atmosphere is always great for any customer. This location doesn't come close to the level of Chuy's in Humble or Woodlands. Very disappointed in the overall atmospher and cleanlines. Staff seems overstreeased, and a bit apatheti. Just a personal preferenc, but their attire should be more appropriate for a restaurant of that caliber. Off the street tees with various slogans isn't a good look. We came in at 3:30 (party of eight), restaurant was mostly empt, but still had to wait ten minutes to be seated (?). waitress was nice enough. She did get my order wrong but no big deal, mistakes happen. And just a small thing but this Chuy's offers no draft beer, only bottle. Check your competition guys. We eat at Chuy's all the time. It's our favorite Mexican restaurant! We usually sit at the bar because we don't like the long waits. The strawberry lemonade margaritas are fantastic. The jalapeño ranch dipping sauce is amazing. I almost always get the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas and my husband loves the steak burrito. Staff is always great. Great for families. Chuys is a classic and reliable place to eat when I'm traveling with my parents, who hate unfamiliar foods. Nothing wrong with eating at old favorites, which is certainly what Chuys is for my family. I don't usually leave reviews on places I always eat, but it should be noted that the Chuys in Tyler, Tx does not allow dogs on their patio. Not Stellar... not even close We arrived about 7:30, and although the parking lot was crowded, the restaurant didn't seem particularly busy. The hostess seated us quickly, and the wait began. We were eventually given chips and salsa, and told our waitress would be with us soon. We waited. She arrived after at least 10 minutes, took our drink order (tea), we asked for one of the speciality salsas and she left. She returned with the salsa, and no additional chips. (REALLY?) She took our order and left. A nearby waiter refilled our basket from the scoop he brought for his table. After another lengthy wait our food was brought out by a third waiter, who also asked if we needed anything... Yes! Drink refills. Eventually, our waitress checked on us. Did we like the food.... At that point I'd only taken a bite of my taco, it was okay... However, the beans were dry, and tasteless while the rice had a strong tomato taste that I liken to Campbell's tomato soup. In short... the service was indifferent and the food unimpressive. We won't be returning. read more

We are relatively new to the area being here for just over 2 years and we've enjoyed Chuy's each time we've eaten there. The food is hot, tasty, and the queso and jalepeno dip is addictive! Service has always been good. The 4 stars is due to take out orders not being filled properly. We typically phone in our order and go pick it up and the last 2 times we've done so our order was filled incorrectly or something was missing. We were offered some kind of credit that was supposed to either be emailed or sent to us via snail mail (my husband handled this so I'm not sure which way we were to get the coupon) but it never arrived. read more

If you've seen on Chuy's . . You've seen one Chuy's. Tyler is no exception. All the same great food with an East Texas friendliness that is hard to beat. It is a regular stop every time I'm in town. Best on the menu - the old #4 which is now just called Relleno & Enchilada. (which is what it is) Highly recommend the beef relleno with queso & either beef enchilada with hatch, if you like spicy, or chicken enchilada with deluxe tomatillo sauce if mild is more your style. New drinks - The Amigo is spectacular. A little sweet to balance our the spicy. Pineapple, mango, casamigos tequila. Also check out the Whiskey Smash. Update: The last time I visited, in late April of 2023, I discovered Chuy's had increased the price of BoomBoom sauce from $1 to $1.50, which is far greater than inflation would seem to warrant. Still, I wasn't put off too much until the check arrived. After simply asking for "plenty" of the BoomBoom sauce, I was charged $4.19 extra, which I thought was a bit over the top. I am not accustomed to being charged any additional fees for sauces in restaurants, and this was even beyond anything I had expected. I still like this restaurant, but I can guarantee that I will NEVER order my favorite sauce from them again. read more

I was told they 'chose' to do away with the white queso at this location. I should have known better than to eat at any Chuy's besides the originals in Houston and Austin. They don't use artificially flavored and colored Margarita mixes (definite headache recipe) they use fresh squeezed limes and simple syrup(sugar and water). even their house Margaritas are good. I ordered the chicken Quesadillas and they were by far the worst quesadillas I have ever been served. I notified the manager and she took off the price and ordered more for me. The second order was just as bad. I took it home because my granddaughter said she would eat it but she did not, and I ended up throwing it away. Excellent service and food, we had Sophia as our waitress, I would definitely recommend asking for her directly due to the amazing and fast service we received from her! Food: When ordering Sophia, our waitress, made sure that every detail was covered and ever option was available, there were no surprises when it came to what we were ordered. A late night at work had me meeting my wife and kids here for a late dinner. They were already seated by the time I got there. The place was it's typical crowded night. Our waitress was a little overwhelmed. Which I have found not to be unusual at this location. Most of our food was lukewarm which is my biggest complaint of the night. The menu is typical of Chuy's and honestly not one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants. A few items were missing when our food was brought to us and we had to ask for them to be brought to us. We also had to ask for a small bowl of queso for the flautas plate which we were charged for, and I'm not real sure that I've ever been charged for us before thinking that he was supposed to come with the meal. Overall I wasn't completely dissatisfied with our visit and I think the main contributing factor to this is because the problems we had are typical of most visits to this location. Therefore it's just kind of what I expect. Obviously it wasn't bad enough to keep us away seeing as though we do come visit this place at least Three or four times a year. read more

I've eaten at a LOT of Mexican restaurants, and this one is... decent. I went with my mom, grandmother, and two sons. Atmosphere: LOUD. We specifically asked if there was a quieter space, as we rarely get together and wanted to visit, and the hostess specifically said it's loud all over. We eventually found a relatively quiet table, but the music was still blaring so that the five of us couldn't have a conversation without repeating everything. MENU: The menu is clear and large, and I liked that it included descriptions of the various sauces. My mom was glad there was a "light" option. Disappointed that there was no lunch menu or prices for half orders. SERVICE: Our server was not exactly great. My grandmother asked for a small plate for appetizers, and she returned with a large plate and said she could use that, and it could be her plate for the meal, too, since we were splitting an entree. Not to difficult to just bring a customer an extra plate so no one ate their entree from a dirty dish. Also, didn't see her smile. Not once. FOOD: The food was pretty tasty, in general, but kind of lacking in appearance. One son ordered the Elvis Presley Memorial, the other ordered enchiladas. Both were swimming in brown sauce, but they're bottomless pits and don't care. My mom's "light" option (chicken chalupas) was especially light, since she fished around what must have been a full head of shredded lettuce to find a few bites of chicken. Beware of the salsa, unless you really like it HOT. However, my grandmother and I split a plate of the shrimp chili rellanos, and they were divine. This was my favorite Tex-Mex prior to the pandemic. The creamy jalapeño dip is addictive and the chips are thin and crispy. There are plenty of great dishes to choose from. The burritos are great as are the pork dishes on the weekend. When the pandemic hit they cut their menu down and eliminated the green chili rice and charro beans. Their Mexican rice and refried beans are lackluster in comparison and I have only eaten there once since they chopped their best two sides from the menu. I will not be eating there again until they bring their good sides back. While I wait, there are great recipes online to make the green chili rice, charro beans and even the creamy jalapeño. When I crave Chuy's now, I put on one of my quirky Chuy's t-shirts and make it at home. read more
