The gardens are beautiful and we heard so many birds singing. We brought a picnic and spent the day walking around the estate.
In all honesty, this was such a better experience than Versailles, which even on a slow day is overwhelming in terms of crowds. I recommend exploring small estates like this where you can take a tour with someone who answers questions and is not rushed. The price for entry at Chateau de Breteuil was very reasonable and parks no was free.
