    May 11 specials at Ciao.

Nice place for a casual dinner of authentic Italian cuisine. You can bring your own wine (as of May 2017). Nice casual vibe, met many locals , good sign!!!

I am so happy that Ciao has opened. It is great Italian food at great prices. ( less than £20 a head for starter and main course each time I have been) The fresh pasta is wonderful ( I recommend the walnut ravioli) The risotto with gorgonzola was perfectly cooked both times I have had this. The rice balls (Aranci) are light and trust me even if you are not a fan of rice this will surprise you!! They make homemade bread for the bruschetta which was an explosion of flavor that as I write is literally making my mouth water!! I have been here 7 times both at lunch and dinner already and highly recommend. I haven't tried any of the British food on the menu but they do have some options. (Personally though why go to an Italian and eat chips!) Its nice also for go for coffee & cake. They make their own cakes ( see photos) The decor is typical of many Italian places in that it is basic. I could care less as the food is the star of the show. The owner, Luca, is very friendly and all the staff from the chefs to waiter are Italian. Point to note: They have no alcohol license so you can bring your own bottle & they don't charge corkage. They have plans to get a license soon.

We were put in the very rear by the back door, which, when opened, occasionally required us to get up from our seats to let someone in. My pasta was great, the garlic soup was AMAZING (I've never heard of a creamy garlic soup with pesto drizzle before but now I pretty much wake up dreaming about it), and my boyfriend loved his personal pizza. The lattes we got for desert were too huge and watery. Had difficulty finishing them, and they weren't very good. The only thing that has room for improvement, though. The customer service was great (a well-spoken foreign exchange high school student was our waitress), and Leonardo himself initially took our order and stayed a while by our table, talking boisterously and cracking jokes. He was an amusing character. We wanted to come back once more, but time did not permit us to.

Garlic bread also good and garlicky. My son had pizza which he said tied for best (with Mona Lisa) on the island. I loved my main. A tuna steak, and the only place I've been able to get on the island to truly serve it seared and red in the middle. Perfecto.

We had a selection of pizzas, lasagnas, garlic bread style pizza and desserts. The pizza was some of the best we have had with a thin crispy crust, fresh toppings and plenty of flavor. They will also drizzle or soak it in garlic butter upon request. My nephew suggested we try it soaked in the garlic butter and he was right. It was delicious. The ambience is old style Italian and the service was top notch. Efficient and friendly describes it best. There is plenty of seating upstairs and down but I would still recommend reservations at this little gem as it was packed when we were there. Especially, if you are visiting during busier Times such as summer or TT week. One last note, the owner is a kind, friendly, happy man who does a precious 'magic' for the children at the end of their meal if they eat everything. All around a great experience.

It was good and reasonably priced, but the food was not life changing. Started with very good garlic bread, which was served like a pizza crust with an excellent almost spicy tomato based dipping sauce, strongly recommend. The antipasto was also a nice starter, with many olives (I don't olives but a friend said there texture was too tough), peppers, salami, ham and artichokes. I had chicken parmesan over spaghetti. The chicken was good and the sauce was relatively complex but the chicken was not flattened as I like in many good parms. The restaurant was also very hot, which made it a little less than perfect. Overall, a restaurant I would go back but not overly memorable.

It came with onions which wasn't detailed on the menu so I sent it back. To be fair they took it back and made me another order so they get stars for good service and doing the right thing which really pleased me!! Well done!! The downside though was the price which was £10.95 for a plate of eggs and sausage and VERY small bottle of water. I think it was worth £7-£8 but at ££10.95 is definitely overpriced. If the extra chorizo was on the plate it didn't feel like it. not sure what normal looks like but if it is half the sausages for £2 less then it is still overpriced. It was a couple of eggs and 2 cut up sausages. In fairness it was very tasty however the price for what was received left me feeling let down. Maybe this is an oddity on there menu but I will see when I come back again.

Their concept of pop up weekend dinners is fabulous, the week we were there they had smoked meats on the menu for Friday night, and Brazilian for Saturday night, I think 25 sterling fixed price per person for multi course meal. So far we have not been able to experience the pop up dinners but it sounds fantastic. Everything is so delicious, clearly a very talented culinary staff.
