Went here for two years getting my Associates of Business in Culinary Arts, I loved the program and the kitchens are top notch and even better than a lot of the restaurant's here in Cincinnati. : In terms of the credit hour rate it is one of the lowest for Culinary Schools, I had friends attend the Culinary Institute of America and after two years they had spent over 100,000 just for tutiton, room and board and fees. After two years at MCI I spent around 8 thousand dollars and trained under Certified Master Chefs. :Since this is a community college, there is no school pride which is sad to see, a lot of students when asked about our basketball team didn't even know where the gym was. : Things to check out if you go there currently for lunch I suggest Bakery Hill on the 2nd floor of ATLC, everything is made there fresh everyday and the counter people are pastry students that really care about you, compared to the Overlook where the food is bland and way overpriced and greasy and the workers don't want to help you. : Also check out the Summit, it is an acting restaurant run by Chef Sean Kagy and his all student work staff in the kitchen and Donna and her all student wait staff. I would suggest going on Friday nights as they have had three courses plus wine pairings for around thirty dollars a person. read more

It was my first visit to the #cincinnatistatecollege on Wednesday. I was headed to the #folletbookstore. I called the bookstore on Monday to find out about the how and where on the parking situation. I was very happy to hear the parking garage is free! The garage is on #centralparkway at the intersection with #ludlowavenue. The employee on the phone was very helpful. I was told to park in the garage & go to level 5 for access to the walkway to the main building. Garage signs directed me to the stairs and elevators at the back of the structure. Upon exiting I crossed a campus roadway to enter the building. The building is attractive. It has high glass windows that let in a lot of good light. Upon entering there were stairs taking me up to the main level. It was here I encountered a friendly staff person. She gave me good additional directions and walked with me part of the way. The #bookstore signs lead me to the cafeteria and the #bookstore just beyond it. The cafeteria has plenty of seating with a wall of windows allowing for a pleasant view and plenty of outdoor light. Several students were using the area as place to study and read. Up ahead I entered the surprisingly small #folletbookstore. Basic school supplies are on the left across from the customer counter. There was one employee present who provided me with friendly service plus the short explanation of how the #bookstore was relocated when the #welcomecenter was remodeled. The #welcomecenter is the first thing you encounter when entering from the parking garage. This is a modern and welcoming campus. My first trip to Cincinnati State's campus was as a guest lecturer. I've driven past here on several occasions, but never knew much about this two-year school until recently. My presentation was held in the new ATLC Building, which features modern decor and stone-set walls. The ATLC is home to the media department and culinary department. A stroll down the hallway revealed glass window allowing spectators to watch the chefs-in-training at work. Display windows featured elaborate fondant cakes, all student created. The building is also home to The Summit, the school's gourmet restaurant operated by culinary students. My lecture took place in the auditorium, which had state-of-the-art A/V equipment. The room was rounded with tiered, plush seating. The chairs each had an adjustable pivot desk. Every seat had a good view of the stage and the environment could accommodate large or intimate crowds. I was really impressed with the amenities at Cincinnati State, as well as many of the courteous students I met in the hallway. As a two-year school, Cincinnati State caters to an older demographic, with their average student age of 27. They also have a solid reputation for placing graduates in the workplace or referring them to a local four-year university upon completion of their Associate's Degree. Cincinnati State is looking to become more involved in the community and plans to welcome citizens onto their campus for activities and dining at The Summit. read more

Cincinnati State is a local community college that offers many resources to the Cincinnati Community. They offer associates degrees in most fields, a cooking school, and many classes to people who may not even be seeking a degree. I just completed my BA a few weeks ago, but I feel that I am missing some things that I need to go further in my field. I've been looking at Cincinnati State as an option to do some more coursework as a non-degree seeking student. Specifically they have some online web and graphic design courses that look especially appealing. The tuition for Ohio residents is also really nice. Only about $80 per credit hour which makes each class about $280. The process of looking at their available courses and then applying to be a non-degree seeking student was extremely easy. I easily found the course listings, and in less than fifteen minutes, I had finished my application! read more

I've spent way to much time here. I am currently in my last semester before I get my AAS. I am majoring in Engineering. I looked at the other reviews and was surprised to see that people liked this school. But under further review all the other comments were for everything besides engineering. Before I get into my college journey, I would like to mention that all of this has taken place in the CIT division and more specifically the CET divison of the school. When I first went into this school, I didn't know what I wanted to do, so I went to my advisor. My advisor told me to become a land surveyor. She told me all the benefits about it and I was thinking that it was for me. So I started to major in the Land Surveying. I took a co-op two semesters later. I come to find out that everything my advisor told me about surveying was a complete lie. After that co-op I transferred back to engineering. And you could tell that all the advisors were mad at me for that and they visibly showed it. Every time I see this practicual advisor she always ask me the same question on why I dropped out of the surveying program. Now I am in my last semster I am trying to get a co-op in the engineering field, and now my co-op coordinator is telling me that they do not help engineers out after there first co-op. I spent upwards of $15,000 on tuition and they are not willing to help. Overall, I feel like my last 2 years have been a waste of time and I wish I did my college experience differently. Since day one they have lied to me, treated me horribly. I could not testify for the other programs and their advisors. But if you are planning on going here to save money and major in any kind of engineering. I would just go to UC and spend the extra money, I wished I would of. Wow... we had been wanting to try out the Summit, as it had been named in Cincinnati magazine as a hidden gem. We definitely weren't disappointed. The service was excellent, very attentive. The shrimp appetizer with truffle sauce was absolutely divine. I had the lamb and it was cooked absolutely perfect to my liking at medium rare. Our dinner companions thought the food was just as good as Boca, which I think is a pretty high compliment. My companions had salmon and risotto and absolutely loved it. We would definitely come back. read more

I am still currently in the process of getting my issue resolved with the Cincinnati State Cashier's Office. It has taken about 3 months and is still ongoing. The Cincinnati State website states that applying to the college is free, yet I am being charged a $15 application fee. I had to email the cashier's office three separate times over the 3 month period. I had called three separate times and no one ever answered the phone. They finally emailed back only after I said I was extremely frustrated and was going to write a bad review. Even after I provided them screenshots of the website saying the application fee was free, they're pretending not to see it and are refusing to email back regarding the screenshot. I am EXTREMELY unsatisfied with Cincinnati State and will be telling everyone I know not to go there. There are other community colleges in the area that are actually professional and stick to their word. Do not go here, they will try to screw you over. read more

My experience with Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Clifton Ohio is an awesome one. I started my Associate degree in Administrative Assistant Technology in Spring 2016 but hopefully will be graduating with two Associate degrees and two Certificates from the Business Technologies Division in Summer 2018. All this is made possible because from the staff at the Admission Office, the Testing Center, Registrar's Office, my first Academic coach, Academic Advisor, Success Coach, and Instructors, every one of them have made my overall experience a pleasant one. When you have people, who believe in you, the tendency to achieve more is I activated. Every one of them look straight into your eyes as you walk on the hallway and smile as they greet you making you feel loved and among. This is particularly important for an introvert like me who would prefer to live in her own world. My co-op experience has been engaging as I move from the Admission Department, through the Cincinnati State Accelerate Program office to the International Student Affairs office, putting into practice all I have learnt in the class and gaining more skills. The staff I worked with pulled me in and taught me more than I was scheduled to do thereby helping me grow into a more effective and efficient Administrative Assistant. Learning in the school is not limited to the classroom as the Instructors are always willing to help when you reach out to them. Not being a Math student, the help received from the Instructors and the Success center made understanding easier. The fees in the College compared to many other Institutions is an added advantage. Availability of grants and scholarships without discrimination makes it easier to graduate from programs within a space of two years without a grave digging debt. My experience is so overwhelmingly pleasant, I have encouraged several people to start programs in the College. The friends I have made have become a part of my family and the relationship built a lasting one. My life and career has been touched is a great way that I know I will BE GREAT. read more

I was a former student at Cincinnati State enrolled in a Cyber Security program. During my time there I had received absolutely no financial assistance. I went through half the year without any books or materials until I could finally afford some of them out of my own pocket. Even though I have applied I was not offered any financial assistance. Request for any financial assistance was basically brushed off and swept under the rug. Previous reputation of this school shows very low graduation rating. Most students who enroll there drop out. What's worse, I had one teacher who was either cancelling class every week, or leaving a note on the door when arriving to class to continue studies on our own that she wouldn't be in. Another teacher who was open about being a lesbian only used gay rights as her topics for class. I'm not bias against gays, to each their own, but I shouldn't be made to feel that not being gay makes me a disrespectful person. Overall, I have not received any proper education while enrolled in that school, nor offered any help from anyone. I continued regardless thinking I would give the school a fair chance, plus was cheaper. Unfortunately now the school wants to sue me for tuition of an education I never received. Regardless of the financial hardship I been currently facing. I would not recommend this school to anyone. The schools poor education explains why they only offer nothing higher than an associates degree. Not much help from the so called teachers. Any available academic assistance is only offered by appointment from another department and has to be scheduled within specific hours with no consideration to student work schedules. Plus may come with additional charges. There are civil actions pending with this school that are well kept secrecy. There are much better choices of colleges in the Cincinnati area that not only offers a good quality of education but can take you much farther than just an associates degree without having to change schools. read more

I went to Cincinnati State from 2007-2009. I originally enrolled in Sonography General Imaging and dealt with the medical majors (surgical tech, nursing, sonography). The school seems to have not changed much (if at all) since then. The first thing to understand is that Cincinnati State averages about 11% on time graduation and about 26% graduation rate. That means about 74% of students never graduate. Most who do graduate have associate of arts degrees and move on to UC, so if you are actually in a program, you have about an 80% failure rate. I went into this school not knowing much about college and just assumed everybody graduated. So there is this huge failure rate and the school feels this is "normal". I never took much notice when I attended, but after I woke up to what goes on there, I noticed that most of the students are not college types. Most of the students are ghetto or hillbilly type of people who barely can write an essay without making basic grammatical errors (and struggle with basic math concepts). Despite this, they pass almost all their classes. The majority of the classes were very easy where one could pass with minimal effort. A few classes were moderately difficult (like Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology) but even here the grades are heavily inflated compared to a real college so that any idiot who just does the homework can pretty much pass. The students are strung along because that government money keeps coming for every warm seat Cincinnati State produces. There were a few good teachers, mostly in the harder classes, and almost all the good teachers were also teachers at UC. Many of the other teachers would not show up on time, or not show up to class at all (canceling about half the classes). I was happy about this at the time, hey no class. But I also had a College Algebra teacher who apparently couldn't do algebra. Over time, I just was learning very little at this school. Then the big problem hit when I had finished all my classes except for the "clinicals". They would not let me take the clinicals. They acted like getting an associate degree from a community college was akin to graduating Harvard and that a 90% drop out rate is normal. After taking my money for two years (and the government's) they suddenly became selective when I'm nearly finished with my degree. I met all the requirements to take the clinical and people less qualified than me were allowed in. They eventually told me it was because I was a man. I later learned that ZERO men have graduated the Sonography General Imaging program- ever. I switched majors several times and encountered the same problems- not allowed to take the clinicals. I asked "if they are over crowded I'll wait a year or two". Nope- for me it will be never. They will never allow me to take my final class and graduate. Seriously? I learned about a "game of favorites" where they just pick out people they don't like and refuse to let them take the class, and in the case of Sonography General Imaging- a man will never be allowed to take the class. I complained for years about this- nothing done. I complained to the Department of Education civil rights division. Nothing done. I will finish my bachelor degree from another school and if I have to contact law enforcement and a civil rights lawyer and attempt to go back. Either I'll be the first man to ever graduate their program or I'm suing them for a million dollars and filing criminal charges (as conspiracy to deprive one of civil rights is a criminal offense in the state of ohio). I cannot fathom how such illegal and fraudulent activity can go on for so many years here- but again, most of the students are ghettoites who seem to believe they deserve to flunk out. Unfortunately there aren't many options for affordable schools in the area, and this school is catered to the dumb. Even the majors are mostly programs that are normally a one year vocational class that they have turned into college degrees. This accounts for nearly every major they have including sonography and surgical tech, as well as culinary program, and so forth. Just keep in mind the 10% graduation rates (which can be verified through federal statistics and you'll get that info when you get a reply about your FAFSFA, but it can also be found online). read more
