I really liked this doctor prior to having my 5th child at Alta bates /sutter. But while in the hospital about a day after I gave birth via csection (csection done by Dr Kadri who's great) she came in and told me about the possibility of needing another surgery due to some post partum symptoms. So coming off of a csection and having a brand new baby this news really scared me and while I looked for reassurance and help she made me feel silly and had VERY little patience with me. She could see I was somewhat panicking and she just made me feel worse. So disappointed in her, I'd seen her a few times in office and even considered having her be by primary this pregnancy, so glad I didn't. read more

I'm not very good at pregnancy and had complications each time that I delivered. For my first pregnancy, I made the mistake of going to an OB-GYN who lacked experience in high-risk. Unfortunately, that pregnancy did not end well. For my second and third pregnancies with deliveries in December 2019 and April 2022, I knew that I needed to find an experienced, knowledgeable doctor with good bedside manner. Dr. Zhang checks all those boxes. She was able to advise me on which tests were necessary and which ones weren't, called to check on me when I was hospitalized during my second pregnancy, takes time to explain things to me, and listens to the questions and concerns that I have. I appreciate the attention that she gives to me, despite getting the standard ten minutes or less that patients get with the doctor. My only regret is that I did not see her for my first pregnancy, or the story might have ended happily. read more

My wife went to the same doctor for 39 years, and then the lady retired. It required extensive research to find another doctor. I am now 35 weeks pregnant with my second child. I do not have the same condition this time and am experiencing a more normal pregnancy with the usual aches and pains. I am also receiving better, more compassionate care at Sutter Davis. I'm even more angry about the care I received in my last pregnancy now that I understand what a normal pregnancy is like. The OBs at Sutter East Bay, especially Dr. Zhang, were dismissive, lacked empathy, and refused to investigate my condition further because they simply did not believe that I was in the level of pain I was in. Now that I know what a normal pregnancy is supposed to feel like, I understand what they THOUGHT I was going through, which is nowhere near the pain I was in. They refused to hear me. They refused to believe me. It was criminal. read more

Dr. Cindy Zhang has a personality of a wet blanket and personal warmth of a robot. Speaks in monotone. Zero interpersonal skill to build rapport or make one feel at ease and welcome. If you are a similar personality type person, she may be a doctor for you. By for someone like me for whom friendliness and personal warmths are nonnegotiable prerequisites for all my medical providers (especially an OB), Dr. Zhang just doesn't cut it... not even close! Knowledge wise, I was not impressed. She didn't tell me anything I haven't already got myself from an internet search. read more

I don't know what's up with grouchy McGregor down there that gave Dr. Zhang a one star. I told the practice up front that I would be moving to be closer to family which you would assume might put a damper on their customer service. Not the case with Dr. Zhang. Not only was she extremely supportive, informational, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive to my needs, she was kind and always asked a genuine how are you after saying nice to see you. All results came in faster than the estimate, all with a personal staff assessment. All my emails written to the the practice were returned the same day. I even received emails from Dr. Zhang on off hours. I was alone in doing all of this and they made me feel safe and reassured through the whole process. Thanks!!! read more

For my second pregnancy I started with a doctor at Stanford health who honestly was the absolute worst. I left my last appointment in tears and could not believe how uncaring and unprofessional they were. I immediately started to search for a new doctor. I asked several mom friends for advice on an OB and several recommended Dr. Zhang. I am so happy that they did because she was wonderful. She was calm and patient and very thorough. She explained everything in detail and made sure I knew exactly what was coming up next. She always answered all my questions, was always on time and always responded really quickly to any email messages I sent as well. I didn't get to deliver with her but she checked up on me afterwards to make sure I was doing okay and I appreciated that. Dr. Zhang is incredible. She became my regular doctor after my Gyn I had always seen retired from the same practice. She is super attentive, a great listener, spends tons of time with me, returns all of my messages in a very timely manner and is very compassionate. Dr Zhang is very caring and thorough. I saw her during/after both of my pregnancies. She always listens to me and cares about all of my concerns. I was induced for my first delivery. The doctor in the first shift gave me more induction drugs than I was comfortable with. I discussed (actually argued) with the first doctor about my racing heartbeat and wanted to stop the drugs but she didn't respect my choice. When Dr. Zhang came in the second shift, she switched to a Foley bulb and that worked much better. The bulb was quite painful so Dr. Zhang talked to me and my husband in detail about the how to help alleviate my pain. She also came back and checked on me often. Her communication was very clear, easy to understand, and matter of fact, which I really appreciate. Her encouragements were brief but sincere. I saw in a couple of previous reviews some yelpers complained that Dr. Zhang is not warm, and I just want to point out that doctors are very busy during delivery and you can hire a doula to provide more comfort and pamper if you need. read more

I recently saw Dr. Zhang for a post-menopausal problem which involved three office visits and a day surgery. I found her to be very warm, helpful, and informative. Some of the diagnostic process was uncomfortable and I was also worried, but Dr. Zhang's thorough communication and caring approach helped immensely. I always knew what was going on and what my options were, and had all the time I needed to ask questions and consider them. Not being rushed in a medical setting is very important to me, and I know that can be hard to provide in a busy practice. read more

IF SHE HAS TO CARE FOR YOU - DEMAND ANOTHER DOCTOR OR LEAVE IMMEDIATELY! Cindy Zhang (I refuse to address anyone by a title they are too incompetent to hold) was on call to deliver my grand child. After over two hours of intense pushing with no result, she recommended a suction vacuum to deliver the baby. If you are not familiar with this procedure, its barbaric and the risks outweigh the benefit. I intervened and told her we were going in a different direction and pointed out various medical red flags any first year med student would have noticed immediately. Reluctantly she performed a caesarean and delivered my grandson. He was in a breech presentation and could not have been delivered vaginally. However because she's horrible at what she does, my daughter developed a massive infection and was hospitalized for 4 days! I will be contacting the medical board to have her license reviewed read more

I had a terrible experience with Zhang and I would strongly recommend you avoid her. I had an appointment with her before I gave birth - only because my regular doctor was unavailable - during which she actually made a joke downplaying a medical condition I have been suffering from for years (yeah, I couldn't believe it either). During the childbirth, she unfortunately was the one on call, and she just radiated negativity. She repeatedly told me I wasn't 'trying hard enough' (I'm giving birth! how do you not try hard?!) and that I was doing it wrong. She made denigrating comments that made me feel terrible about what was an already complicated medical situation, and her medical recommendations made no sense and made the birthing experience harder. Thankfully, the nurses and my partner were wonderful and my child was born healthy and well, but it was no thanks to her. There are some great doctors in this practice, but you don't get to choose who will be at the birth, and even if you try to make regular appointments with one doctor, the office will frequently cancel appointments on short notice and then you're stuck with someone else. I wouldn't use this office again for pregnancy, and I would never go see Dr. Zhang. read more

Negative star if I could, they cancel your appointment 30 mins before the actual appointment. We were already at the parking lot when a voice mail came up and said "we apologize for the inconvenience but your appointment has been canceled and rescheduled to a month later". Really? 30 mins before the appointment? Very unprofessional. I called back and the answer they provided was "the Dr had an emergency". I am sorry but that's not okay. They also said they did that to everyone, all the time. My friend came all the way from San Jose to be seen. I asked if there is an on-call Dr for situation like this, they said no, that's why we had to cancel your appointment and we don't give a sh#t about other people's time. I was considering switching from CPMC but thanks for the heads up, I will stick with CPMC and would tell everyone I know to stay away from this place. read more

Dr. Zhang has been my doctor for 3 years now. I recently had my first baby this year and couldn't have asked for a better experience! I had a complicated pregnancy and Dr. Zhang was really helpful and compassionate through it all. I am a bit of a worrier to say the least and I was able to email her at any given time and she would get back to me personally within a day. I was lucky enough to have her deliver my baby as this is a pretty large group of doctors and they rotate at the hospital. She made our first time labor experience incredible and I'll never forget her kindness and positivity. We will continue to go to her for all our babies to come! read more
