Here for breakfast and am very pleased with the reception and service with a smile. Suzie my server is very friendly and attentive. The menu has it all ! Even has some great specials plus a senior menu. Looking through the menu, the lunch has everything, ok no roasted aardvark but it covers most items one could want. I travel through Turlock frequently but usually am on the go so I don't get to stop. This morning I'm having a traditional American breakfast of potatoes with eggs, bacon and sourdough toast. Not a good experience for a handicapped person. Got there, got out of the van which is no easy feat in their tiny parking lot. Get to the door and It's locked. All the staff ignored us as we stood there in front of customers even. It wasn't even close to closing time. I went to the 2nd door and they refused to acknowledge us. Sad. Even when I called them later, they played dumb as if nothing had ever happened. I'll never come here again. Great late breakfast. We had received many recommendations in the past from friends to go to Cindy's. Must admit that the name didn't give much credence to Mexican food, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had the green sauce omelette. It was huge. Very tasty, not too spicy, but excellent flavor. Service was very attentive. Food came piping hot, perfect to eat. Next time, we're going to try the menudo which we've been told is best in the area. Glad we gave Cindy's a try. read more

I have lived in Turlock for 21 years and I just checked out Cindy's for the 1st time today. I think I have avoided this place for a good number of years due to the fact their parking lot is just plain retarded. A triangular shaped parking lot, busy intersection and a diner that caters to elderly can be potentially hazardous. Pretty typical diner. Food was decent, staff was nice. I had the fish sandwich special with fries for $4.99. It was ok but the lettuce and tomato threw me...I guess I expected tartar sauce. My Fiance had a cheeseburger special with fries and a salad. He didn't complain. Lunch for two came to $14 and we were in and out quickly. I would like to come back from breakfast soon and give the papas y corizo a whirl. read more

OLD FASHIONED Feel........... It's no wonder that so many people drive right by this curb side diner, never stopping in based solely on it's name: Cindy's Restaurant.... I would have... and did for a few years or more actually....that is until one day on a day trip to visit my mother and when the topic of lunch came up I voted for my all time favorite Mexican food...... And that's how it started as I learned of this old~school gem from my mother who said they had the BEST Mexican food in Turlock. The name alone tells me that this joint must be a knock off of Denny's or a similar chain specializing in good ol' mass produced, breakfasts, nothing special burgers, fries, soups, sandwiches and salads....... HOWEVER what lies inside took me back to the days of Happy Day's & Fonzie of old fashioned diners like Al's Diner or Arnold's depending on your generation and where what appear to be the original booth tables and old school counter-top seating area over by the kitchen, where you can sit and watch the cooks behind the big serving window work away.... The old school stick a quarter in and turn the knob candy dispenser by the front doors only adds to the feel...... I find it quite charming and nostalgic really.... I'm a sucker for old shit of all kinds.... And now a WARNING: Its super small inside.. Very very small and the one bathroom is even tinier...... PARKING sucks BUT once you discover the empty lot to the left of the entrance of the building your set so just be prepared if your going to give this puppy a whirl.... To my amazement each and every time I have eaten here this place is PACKED to the HILT! The food really is that good, and the portions are GYNORMOUS only they are... The ceramic oval dinner/meal plates are super heavy and HUGE, filled with food and can be quite hot to the touch as the food comes out super hot which I love.... MY POISON: Super tender bite sized cubes of pork simmered to fork tooth perfection in a spicy fresh Chile Verde sauce that makes your mouth water and your nose run so pack tissue ;) aka: Chile Verde baby..... Oh yeah it is the shit!.....One of the best I've had to date although I've only had one more that was better and that one was compliments of Miss Mary an old school Mexican woman who taught me how to make it myself some years back... For the price, freshness & portion sizes it's hard to beat them ;) Final Grade: B+ read more

There are so many times I have drove passed this place and saw it at the corner of my eye and thought nuttin of it but this morning I was hurting for menudo. Evidentally margarita got nothing on me cause I managed to text many of my friends here where the heck I could find menudo ASAP. (It is known to help cure hangovers) Man the amount of favors I owe now for texting at 2-3 am!!! I was recommended this place since it opened at 6:00am. Funny thing about this place is, it is not opened for dinner. ODD huh, just breakfast and lunch. This place is a hidden gem. Finally got to try it and I'm extremely satisfied. Waiters cater to needs. Feel free to ask for your own needs even if it's not on the menu. I ordered the small bowl of menudo and it was enough an delicious. This is probably the only menudo that tastes authentic that I've ever had at a restaurant. My bf got the country style breakfast (HUGE portion of country style gravy and bread ) he didn't even leave a dent on it. And he ordered lingüica, mushrooms and onions sautéed with was on point. Dude!!! Yes. I'm telling you this is the place for breakfast... amazing biscuits, amazing gravy, and they even have traditional Mexican food!!! So, damn right I got a chille relleno. Lol. I love this place for breakfast! They have a $4.99 breakfast special Mon-Fri 6am-11pm. I love to order off there or even have some of their Mexican breakfast. Either way it is delicious and I recommend this place. I personally don't like their side of fruit or their orange juice. Stopped in for breakfast and found the place to be crowded, which we took as a good sign. We were seated quickly and it a diner atmosphere, but kind of on the small side. The waitress took our order and it was nice to have a good menu to choose from. Regular American breakfast or breakfast with a Mexican flair. The shredded beef and and egg enchilada was excellent! My wife and I are not locals, we were in town for a funeral and stopped here for breakfast. Honestly, we didn't expect much but boy were we surprised. They have traditional American and Mexican breakfasts. I am very much a "bacon and eggs" sort of guy, so I stuck with that but my wife is more adventurous when it comes to breakfast selections. She tried the breakfast enchiladas with the verde sauce. While my breakfast (eggs, bacon and biscuits w/ gravy) was good if standard, hers was delicious and I found myself regretting that I didn't order it. Go out on a limb, get the Mexican omelette or the breakfast enchiladas or something you wouldn't normally order. You'll be quite pleasantly surprised I'm sure. I came to Cindy's for lunch with some friends. I was greeted warmly, and told to sit wherever I wanted to. She took my drink order while I waited for the rest of our group to arrive. I ordered a sandwich, but our server brought me a different sandwich. She graciously offered to take it back and have the kitchen make what I ordered. But I had my eye on the onion rings, and I didn't want them to get cold while they fixed me a new sandwich. I should have asked for a total do-over. The onion rings were warm but not searing hot and fresh. My sandwich was pretty good, but nothing special. read more

Whatever makes this place appealing is completely hidden to me. My wife and I sat down to eat in a nearly empty dining area at a sticky table that remained sticky even after the very jaded waitress "cleaned" it with a rag. My wife's vegetarian omlette was very greasy, as was my tuna sandwich. After eating carefully while combatting a bunch of flies, neither of us finished our food. Our waitress ignored us as she help a few other customers and giggled with someone in the kitchen. When we eventually got our check, I felt very cheated. I'm not opposed to the divey look, but if you're going to go cheap on the look of the joint, the food and customer service have to be great. read more

My dad loves coming here for breakfast. It's probably a combination of the fact they cater to his quirky request to slice up some jalapenos for him to have with his breakfast in a certain way and the cute waitresses. They serve up all of the standard Mexican and American breakfast items. There is nothing fancy about this place, just good solid food. I've been tempted to stop by when I see them BBQing outside but so far I haven't actually made the stop. I'm probably missing out on some good grilled meat though. read more
