When we arrived, they let us check in our luggage prior to check in and after while we explored Cinque Terre. We booked the very small bedrooms, which made efficient use of the space and had a lovely outdoor patio area. If the weather had been warmer, we would have spent some time out there. However, the biggest highlight of the hotel for us was definitely the breakfast. Breakfast was included with the hotel reservation. Normally it's served on their rooftop balcony where all the lemon trees grow, but due to the weather, we dined indoors, which was just as lovely and more comfortable. Highly recommend Eraldo's crepes with their lemon jam sauce. Three of us ordered omelettes and each omelette ended up being garnished differently. It felt like a home-cooked meal. You could see the staff mixing the batter at the front. Their smoothies also used real fruit, and they had a unique lemon smoothie worth trying! I was surprised how it was more sweet than sour. Then there was the yogurt with lemon curd, the freshly-baked focaccia, croissants...I could go on and on. It was definitely THE BEST BREAKFAST we had during our trip to Italy. After we checked out, the hotel staff allowed us to leave our luggage while we continued to explore more of Cinque Terre, and when we officially checked out, they gave us a complimentary heart-shaped fridge magnet featuring Monterosso. Just a few…read morehundred steps from the water, Albergo Marina (aka Hotel Marina) was the polar opposite of our hotel in Rome, in an expected, excellent way. The hotel has five floors of uniquely styled rooms with varying layouts, furniture, and views. We had an L (ish) shaped room on the second floor that looked out on the "street" (more like a cobblestone path) with two separate terraces that we could walk out and sit on. Views of the water are very hard to come by in this part of town, but we were able across some rooftops and up into the mountains. Sitting on the balcony all we could hear were footsteps, animals, the wind, and a constant stream of water heading towards the ocean. No cars fit up anywhere near here, so we didn't hear a single engine from our room. The bed was comfortable and warm, and nice and big. Just FYI, the king size bed is actually two not-so-king mattresses next to one another, so movement during the night could create a bit of a gap in the middle. The shower was amazing, larger than I thought it would ever be for a place like this and the rainfall shower head and water pressure were the best. The free breakfast was nice and simple. Coffee, juice, tea, pastries/bread, as well as omelettes and pancakes made to order. They offered a mid-afternoon snack, and a room here gets you into a free pesto tasting that happens every day from 2pm-3pm just down the street. They have free WiFi, which happened to be much faster (11.12/1.89) than the WiFi at our previous hotel in Rome, and enabled us to stream 1080p Netflix at night without issue. The staff here was extremely nice, and provided us with excellent recommendations on food, drinks, and things to check out while we were in town. I would definitely recommend this place for a stay in Monterosso, especially when it gets warmer and you can leave the windows open 100% of the time.

There is a rooftop common area with an outdoor terrace with amazing views of the ocean, which is where breakfast was served. The room was just a tad on the small side, but I think that is the case for most accommodations in Chinqua Terra. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Huge balcony and common area to chill out at. It was well decorated and beautiful!! Large balcony to have your meals at on a sunny day! It was a two level apartment right in the heart of Riomaggiore. We had a balcony overlooking the harbor and we each had our own room. And the price was better than most hotels and other apartments in the area. + Place also had free WiFi - Make sure you figure out when and how you are going to meet landlord. Payphones are hard to find.

The husband and I each had a pasta dish we found to just be ok but not super flavorful. We shared the second course of steak with a few fried potato wedges and condensed veggies, and we found it to be the same flavor-wise. The steak temp was cooked perfectly though. That's all we had room for as we are just not accustomed to the Italian multi-course meal! We loved the view and the service and would definitely return and just try something else on the menu.

La Scogliera is not very far from the train station and at the bottom of the hill (a blessing because this hill is VERY STEEP). My friends and I began exploring for dinner options and only had a couple of options since it was later in the day and February is considered their off-season so a lot of businesses are not open let alone the impact of covid and travel. We opted for this restaurant and we're quickly seated as soon as we arrived. We immediately felt apart of the community as the inside felt very homey and like everyone had known each other for years. There were plenty of options on there menu but the waiters recommended seafood and their pesto options so that's what we went with. The calamari that we received was like no other I've had. Seasoned to perfection, not overly breaded or fried and large! The pesto pasta was delicious despite it being so simple. And my friend also had vegetarian lasagna which was also delicious. Not pictured here but we also had tiramisu! If I had to decide on my last meal before I passed it would be here and my mom's home cooked food of course lol.

Location ~ farthest end from the Spiaggia di Fegina and a good walk from the train station. For passing tourists, a chillaxing spot on the unnoticed side apart from the main center. The bar ~ local, more like a tiki setup with falling apart decor and handwritten menus. Music playing feels more Caribbean than Mediterranean. Only the patio for seating, thankful for the umbrellas shielding the sunburning rays. The drinks ~ usual Italian pilsners, beach cocktails. Pours on the heavier side had our group drinking more than we should have and our obnoxiousness elevated to annoyance of others. Appetizers always seem delish when pairing with a lot of drinks. Bathroom available for diners. Time flies when having fun so check your watch frequently; almost missed the train again. The perfect beach bar. Statua Il Gigante ~ about 100 yards away at the end of the beach is a private villa with an eye popping sculpture that is the symbolic icon of the town. Named Neptune and in 14 meters in height, named fittingly as Gigante. Carved out of the cliff rock, he once guarded the beach with muscular arms & trident. This guy & villa survived bombings from the world war and natural elements but it is evident it is wearing down on him. He needs a drink from the bar.
