This is the worst movie theatre I have ever been to. I have given this place several chances but I can't go back anymore. I went for to see Alien Romulus, we missed the table service window so we had to order at the bar. That's fine, except we got moved to a POS screen which had a long line, and then we had to move to another POS screen that was free and place our popcorn and drink orders with the staff member. The employees were nice but how is this more efficient than continuing table service? It makes anyone late for their movie previews even later and potentially miss the beginning of their movie. This isn't a big deal and wouldn't merit not coming back, but it still doesn't make a lot of sense. The biggest issue I have with this theatre is the lack of immersion. During Alien Romulus, I realized I'd never been to a movie where the sound wasn't loud of clear enough and felt disconnected from the film. I then made this realization when watching Nightmare on Elm Street and The Substance. The lights actually came on during The Substance! That was what killed it for me. Besides this, the layout is so convoluted. You can't go to the second floor and then back to the first to refill your drink or popcorn. You can only leave and circle back to the entrance down the escalator with your ticket in hand. Like what is even going on? I went to see "Silent Night" at Cineplex Forum in VlP room, just to see what's the hype is about. Sure, it's great that there's a waiter standing by to wait you when you want to drink a pitcher of Sangria or beers or have a meal while watching the movie. You also got heated seats I guess that's what the 3 buttons on the side of my seats are... or maybe heat up the meal that you ordered. Although the food/drinks are a bit overpriced on the menu list. A classic poutine costs about $15, a pitcher of Sangria is about $10 and Strawberry Cheesecake is about $9. Other than that, the rest of the theatres that I'd been to, were pretty small. read more

**This review is for the building that this cinema/Cineplex is housed in. It is not for the actual theater; rather, I am reviewing the site itself** Approximately 6-7 years ago. I brought my young kids to the old Forum, to show them where I had spent so many winters watching hockey games with my dad, cheering on the Habs. I was so dismayed, as the Forum then was really seedy and the only nod to its esteemed past was a tiny section of original red Forum seats in the center of the floor, with a goofy resin sculpture of a male fan seated on one of these chairs. It was so sad. Fast forward to today. They converted the old Forum into a huge Cineplex movie complex. And while it's not perfect, they at least respected the history of the building. There's a hallway lined with the original red seats, with walls covered with photos of the Habs' remarkable history, and all the famous players of yore, and mock pennants of all their Stanley Cup wins. I only took a few photos, but they really did a great job of doing tribute to the team and the building. And they kept the Canadien's logo where center ice would be, on the floor. Best of all, they made huge shadowboxes along a curvilinear wall, each depicting memorabilia from the Forum's past, from its building and inauguration, to all the shows that were held here since its opening: the Ice Follies, the dog shows, the circuses, the wrestling and boxing matches, music concerts and more. (I should have taken photos of the shadowboxes but I was too busy poring over them. Sorry!). The atrium of the building, where the entrance to the cinema is, is really beautiful, with its cavernous space and high, oh so high ceiling. Greenery and crystal orbs are suspended from on high, and the entire space is airy and feels light (despite the lack of windows). I loved how they maintained the press box on high, too; it's pretty amazing to see how incredibly high up the announcers and commentators were, having a real birds'-eye-view of the hockey action way below. The space is quite accessible for those who are mobility challenged or disabled. Not only are there centrally-located escalators, but there are also two banks of elevators on each side of the atrium, and the space is well lit and open and clear of obstacles. Also, FYI, the site is connected to the Metro system, too (bonus!). I saw that, up on the second and third levels, there are rooms and hallways connecting to Dawson College, and a Comedy Club, too. Ideally one day they'll have a museum dedicated to this amazing building that played such a pivotal role in Montreal's cultural history but until this day, I was so glad to see at least the history respected now. read more

Excellent experience for the VIP theatre! I've been going to the VIP cinema in Brossard for over ten years, it was the first of its kind in the area. Adults only, expanded menu with alcohol and table service. Large spacious seats and more premium feel. The renovated Atwater location is far better now compared to Brossard. This location offers reclinable seats, extremely comfortable "lazy boy" type sofas. You can adjust the legs and neck position, there is even a heated seat button. Ideal for couples.The middle partition comes up so you can be closer to the person next to you. There is tons of room and an average of 8 or 10 rows only for the whole theatre. There are large cup holders and mini table for your foods. The lobby area has a bar and dine in restaurant experience if you want to come early and grab a bite. Otherwise, while you are in the room, there are waiters who are ready to serve. You can also order food through the Cineplex app and have it brought to you. Only complaint is how long the food service goes on for - we were about 20 mins into the movie and some people were still not done ordering or the food took a while to arrive as the staff kept walking around. This is a bit of a disturbance as their heads are blocking the screen. I would highly recommend everyone come here at least 15 mins before the start of the movie if you know you'll want to order food or check out the rest of the facilities. People showing up right when the movie starts and lights are dim end up making too much noise and shuffling through the menu or phones to get their orders in. The menu offerings are diverse, it used to be mostly burgers and nachos but there are different options like tacos or wraps, poutines and of course classic popcorn and candy. Prices are high. A soda is around $6 to give you an idea. The ticket itself for this VIP cinema with reclinable seats is around $25 a person. Best to reserve seats online in advance to get the ones you want. This Cineplex offers lots of regular seating as well, I believe the whole upper floor is just standard but the downstairs is fully renovated and beautiful. The bathrooms are also improved, the stalls feature large doors offering more privacy. If you're looking for a more comfortable, spacious movie going experience, the VIP is a great choice. Hard to go back to a regular theatre after this! Note this location offers paid underground parking as well. read more

Forget "rich and savory"--it tasted like watered-down Salisbury steak sauce. Absolutely none of the classic poutine flavors you're looking for. Oh, and the best part? It was cold. Very comfortable, heated seats with electric leg rest that extend to an almost lying down position complete with built-in rotating trays and a retractable middle arm rest to turn your two individual seats into a loveseat all accentuated nicely with excellent, friendly service makes for a pampered-feeling, relaxing movie watching experience. This was my 2nd visit. The first time I would have rated it 5 stars because everything went smoothly. This time there were 5 of us. 2 of us got our food first, and the other 3 of us were on the same bill. The popcorn one of us ordered came with the original 2 food orders, and 30 minutes later we were still waiting for our food, We did mention it to a staff member, but our waiter never came back. I had to leave the theater while the movie was on to complain. When my poutine finally showed up, it was ice cold, so again, had to go out to complain. In the meantime, we gave our waiter a 20% tip because you have to give it to them in advance on the machine. Also, we showed up quite early, and they were still cleaning at 7:50 when the movie was scheduled for 8:00. I wouldn't go back at $25 plus tax a ticket. Quite disappointed. Never mind the food bill was $100 with one drink each and an entre. I'll go see the movie in a regular theater next time. without a meal. I can live without the recliner. read more

Listen, I'm old enough to remember and actually be here when the Montreal Forum played host to epic rock concerts in the 1970s and 1980s to you know, little itty bitty bands like Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, The Police, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, U2, ELO, The Bee Gees, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Billy Idol and many, many others. At that time, the atmosphere of the place could not be beat. Add to that the 1960s and 1970s when the Montreal Canadians were winning Stanley Cups almost every year in this very building with legend players like Ken Dryden, Larry Robinson, Rocket Richard, Guy Lafleur, Patrick Roy, etc. etc. And then the 1990s came and Neoliberalism ruined everything when everything started to go sterile and corporate, prices were jacked up and the analogue way of life started to hit the skids..... The building has changed hands a few times, they can't demolish it because it has historical value but making it into a tacky cineplex with a rotating rosters of sports bars, pool halls, cheap gyms, pastry shops, car rental offices and God knows what else isn't exactly ideal either. The cinema has become a bit shoddy too. The seats need replacing, and like many other cinemas, the place has taken a hit since streaming services have taken off and Cheapy Tuesday isn't as cheap anymore. I don't know, I think they should have kept the old Forum at least for shows and maybe use the Bell Center for corporate hockey games or something but I can't help but feel sad every time I walk by or come in because I remember how it used to be once upon a time. - Updated review - I have not been on the bottom floor of this place for 13 years (no joke, last time l went on bottom floor, l saw the movie Hancock with Will Smith). I was pleasantly surprised to see it renovated. Sadly the issues in my first review remains. The good: Bathrooms nice, clean, and modern. Restaurant area looks really nice (we did not go). Seats and leg room spacious. Seats comfy. Parking still at $6 outside of business hours. The bad: Sound is still too low. Bottom floor still has no snacks bar (therefore you have to go down the electric stairs with your stuff). Staff still young (guy that welcomed us with our tickets DEFINITELY did not want to be there). On a side note, most of the stores on the main floor did NOT survive covid, and are therefore closed (including the Tim Hortons), which makes the AMC, and the old Forum, look sad. The renovations on the bottom floor are an improvement, but the basic issues remains. But why fix those if the theatres are always empty (we were the only ones there), and the surroundings are shutting down... read more

The forum is a great theatre. Always lots of movie choices and well kept. The staff is very nice and they clean up the rooms quickly after each showing. It's also very conveniently located next to a shopping center. I always stop by Alexis Nihon beforehand to grab some drinks and snacks. The only way I pay those absurd movie snack prices is if I have a gift card. The only complaint I have is that if you buy your tickets online and choose to pick them up at the theatre, you still have to wait in line with the other people who are picking up their tickets. So what's the point of buying online? And if you want them emailed, you still have to print them. This is super frustrating because on cheap Tuesdays it's always busy and I'd like to get everything done swiftly but I still end up waiting. read more

I love watching movies in theatres, especially at a cineplex location. This theatre is great, it has multiple theatres (well over the 20 count) which is great when you want to see a movie that has been out for a while. However, the downside is that they usually play that movie on one of their smaller auditoriums (which translates to a smaller screen). I came here to see First Man, a movie with a really good and loud soundtrack. I would've loved to see it on a bigger screen with a better audio acoustic room. One main downside of this theatre is that they charge an extra $2 per movie ticket. Not exactly sure why. After seeing at least 5 movies here, you can basically go for 6 movies for the same price at the Scotiabank theatre downtown, which I find much better (all auditoriums are huge and is truly a great experience). If you're looking to see a movie that has been out for a while or is only playing at this location, I would highly recommend this theatre. When I was in Montreal last September, I wanted to see The 9th Life of Louis Drax. It was only playing at a Cineplex on Atwater in downtown Montreal. So, I drove over there. There is a parking lot that connects you to the building. A new parking attendant basically prevented me from using my credit card and asked me to do something else. Although my French is rusty, I am still pretty good at reading signs in French. I told him that it accepts credit cards. Finally, he spoke to his colleague who indicated the same thing that I just mentioned -- credit cards are accepted. I slid my car into the machine, it came out, I retrieved it, the lane's arm went up, and I went in. The new parking lot attendant did apologize. That was nice. Still, he took up five minutes of my time! I parked. I realized that this Cineplex used to be the Forum. Yes, THE Forum where the Habs played for decades, along with a ton of memorable concerts. Wow! I am glad that the original seats are still there. You can sit down, take photos next to various statues and such, and go up to the second floor to look at all the memorabilia. I loved it! I had enough points to watch my movie for free. Yay! I also got nachos and a hot dog. I didn't have lunch, so lunch in the dark, it was! The movie was wonderful. I liked how roomy the seats were. The picture and sound were perfect. I have no complaints. I'd come here again to see a movie when I am in Montreal. (22) read more

Was at Cineplex Forum last night with my grandkids to see our first movie in 18 months. Movie was great Spacejam 2) but 1) the actual theatre was a dump 2) seats were filthy and uncomfortable and I had a hard time sitting on those torn dirty seats 3) one small and one medium popcorn was $20...( $1.98 extra in $20 price for butter on popcorn). Can you imagine. On top of that the volume was on at beginning of movie without a pic. I had to run downstairs to get that corrected. This was the worst movie going experience I have ever been through. As we say here in Mtl "N'Importe quoi!!!". from the entrance to the way out. That escalator was broken and had to walk down from that height holding all our concession items (which is not cheap by the way!!) over stairs covered and caked in with all kinds of food. Firstly, there is no theatre room number on the tickets, then 2 staff gave us 2 different viewing room numbers. There is NO indication what room is showing our film from outside the theatre doors. NONE. No sign, no Title, no staff. Just a bunch of open doors. Funny enough, the VIP section had clearly indicated doors. Oppenheimer was playing in multiple rooms!! We walked into ongoing films then found room 4 which had a cleaning crew leaving and guessed that it was the one. That room was filthy, had gross candy/chip wrappers stuffed in our seats and old used greasy napkins stuffed into out cup holders. I have to now clean my own seating area ?? We purchased IMAX tickets. $25 per tickets for 4 people. That, was NOT an imax screen. it is a regular movie screen. We were asked by 30+ other patrons in the room if this was the correct Imax showing of Oppenheimer, we said " we aren't sure either !!!???" I went back out to ask the staff I could find and No One is around except the 20 or so staff around in the EMPTY VIP lounge for the VIP showings. Seriously?? When I did ask one of them, I was told "sorry, I don't know because I work for the VIPs only". Seriously ?!?? I said " the sign in the hall says IMAX to room 4, but the film was on-going, the other room is NOT an imax screen and everyone is trying to figure out which room is the right one!! She says then go sit in the empty room because we don't work for the theatre but only for the VIP's". That is unreal ! For what was an epic film, this was by far the absolute worst theatre experience in my life in this city. You just reminded us why we stopped coming to the forum theatre a few years ago and it is still the worst experience ever. It's just too bad it cost us all a bloody fortune to be reminded of this. It is very hard for me to do a review of a Cinéplex since I used to work in one, I really have the tendency to see everything. But I have to say this location is my favorite in Montreal. Cineplex forum is in the old Forum Center where the Canadians used to play, so at the entrance you have a real hockey vibe, with statues of players, mini-hockey machine, jersey, etc. The line is never too long to buy your tickets whether you buy them at the counter or with the machine, I will advise to buy them at the machine if you are paying with a card, they are very easy to use and you can still put your scene card. Their selection of movie is GREAT! They have most of the blockbusters, a lot of Canadian movies, plus a shit load of foreign movies (french, Indian, asian, Bollywood, Spanish, etc.). Which make it the perfect place for any kind of person, even the french movies have subtitles in english, so really there is no excuse. Food wise, I have never been a huge fan of movie theatre food, I am not fond of popcorn, and even less butter popcorn. I would recommend to eat before coming or to hide your candies in your pockets so you don't have to buy overpriced m&ms. YES, the food in Cineplex is expensive, and not worth it in my opinion (the only counter which might be worth it is the one at the Banque Scotia Cineplex, the Gourmet one with greats poutines and hot dogs), BUT it is not a reason to yell at the employees, they already know it is expensive. To finish, the service is really nice. As a small reminder most of Cineplex employees are students, in cegep and universities studying and working their ass off to pass their class without getting broke. At the Forum, I never felt some of them were grumpy or anything else, they are most of the time very chill and efficient. The toilet are the greatest in all the Cineplex in Montreal, and they work hard to have it clean that often, believe me washing toilets a Tuesday at Cineplex is not nice, but each time I go there, their toilet are duper clean. My only downside is that the second food counter, downstairs where most of the rooms are, is always closed and haven't been open for at least five years. We were in dire need of finding a movie theatre that showed movies in English. We were tricked a few days prior. Most movies here in Montreal are in French. I love being amidst different cultures, but it's hard to really enjoy a movie if you they are being dubbed in French. 5 stars is given to this Cineplex not only for having movies in English, but for the best popcorn EVER. Seriously. I have never had fresh popcorn as good as I had on my trip to Montreal. There must be MSG or something that makes the popcorn taste more buttery. The added butter was bonus. It also tends to be less crowded than the other theatres which is a big plus. Another bonus is the location, right next to the Atwater metro and Alexis Ninon shopping center. It's comforting coming here, and parking in the lot is only $6 on weekends. Compared to movie theatres in Toronto, the theatre is always a lot less full here, which is more enjoyable. I came on tuesday to watch crazy rich asians. I wanted to go to the 6:15pm screening, but at 5:30, I checked the website again and it was sold out!! So I had to wait to see the 7:00pm avx one which is about 3$ more expensive. I was surpised that it sold out, so I hurried and bought the 7:00pm screening on my phone. The transaction went smoothly and quickly. At the end, I got a barcode that I was told to scan at the theater in order to get my tickets. Once at the theater, there were HUGE lines! Thankfully, my movie buddy saw a place with 0 lines and that happened to be where we needed to go if we had the barcode! So I scanned the code, got the tickets and got in the room. The AVX was super comfy. The seats were nice and spacious and eventhough I was very close to the screen, it wasn't straining. The volume was good. They have over 20 showing rooms spread on 3 different floors. At one point, I got super lost, so that was a bit overwhelming. Also, the decor is very bland. It looks like an old hockey arena and no one bothered to cover up and just threw a theather in instead. [I was informed that they restored it to look like an arena, because the Habs used to play there. Cool idea! But, I still didn't love the execution. Sorry!] Overall, it was a great experience. How cool is it to go to a movie where they used to play hockey? Came here to the movies to see "Lucy" in IMAX and really enjoyed it. The theater is efficiently run and very clean. It's really too bad we haven't figured out what to do with our fabled Montreal Forum. At least it's not like Toronto that turned Maple Leaf Gardens into a grocery store, albeight a nice one. This Cineplex seems to get all the movies the Scotiabank Theatre just 2 metro stops away does not want. There's a lot of Arthouse, non-English Movies and they even play Bollywood Imax movies. There's rarely a lineup anytime I go but the concession stands are really weak, no nachos, burgers or chicken wraps and the $5 pretzel was really awful. Popcorn is super tasty though. There is a food court across the street if you want to grab a bite before the movie, the Tim Hortons nearby ran out of food by 10PM last time i was there. read more

Over the years I've started to dislike going to the movies big time. I find it expensive and it drives me up the wall when I've paid a fortune only have to watch ads at the beginning of the movie. I'd much rather watch a movie from the comfort of home. That being said when I do go this is my preferred theater. They show a good variety of movies and the facilities are pretty spacious and clean. It's part of the Cineplex chain so the prices are in line with their other downtown theater, the Scotia Bank one, which is to say they will be on the expensive side. I also find that it gets way less crowded than the Scotia Bank theater which is definitely a plus. read more

This building has seen an amazing history, however, is nothing to be impressed about anymore. Due to the pandemic, the building is extremely empty and gives off an eerie and creepy vibe as some hallways lead to darkness. The retail space surrounding the main atrium is deserted and depressin. The theatre itself has recently seen a renovation which honestly just seems to be a white coat of paint. The management doesn't seem to care much about the property and it's history. The movie theatre itself is beginning to show decay as their prices skyrocket. They charge upwards of seven dollars for a small bag of popcorn with no drink. The washrooms were dirty, the chairs were old, the hallway paint was chipping, etc. The movie screen itself was good and it was rather nice to be alone in the theatr, however, there aren't many positive. I would not recommend this theatre as a plan "a" or even as a backup. We had a bad experience. read more

It may be crowded on summer days but definitively not as bad compared to Scotia bank (the other theatre that is downtown). This used to be the site of the montreal canadiens arena (the Forum). Now you can sit in the old red section of seats in the lobby of the shopping centre, just outside the movie theatre. Doesn't capture the atmosphere of the old arena but neat to have this memorabilia The movie theatre has multiple floors and is in close proximity to public transport (Atwater metro). Enjoyed the new VIP experience. Our server was Leticia and honestly, she killed it. So nice, checked up on us and made sure our food was prepared with our food allergies and preferences in mind. If they could guarantee that Leticia was our server every time I visited, I would come here for any and all movies. read more

Not a bad movie theatre however the layout is a bit weird and if you get an auditorium like #10, you have to go down the stairs and walk all the way down. This theatre plays a lot of ethnic movies. I have been here on several occasions for Chinese films! Which is awesome. This theatre is less busy compared to Scotiabank on St. Catherine's so I like coming here on Tuesday's (which is still busy). One downfall about this theatre is that they don't allow Tim Horton drinks which I find absurd because it's within the same building, but I guess it isn't part of Cineplex. Either way, they have one concession stand for all I know and there is line ups for pop corn and drinks! read more

I love this place. This is one of my favorite spot in westmount. Every Tuesday, I go to see movie alone. I watched 'bad moms" this week. If you are a mom, I recommend this movie . You can get some energy to take care of your kids. read more

Why is this place so cheesy?! It's like a satellite of the distant suburbs where only chain stores and primary colours exist. And yet, they show great movies, and they are located close to delicious pre-movie dinner options, and the chairs in the cinema are comfy and always clean, and they still have 7$ movie Tuesdays. I wish we lived in a golden age of cinema where excellently curated films showed in beautiful venues with delicious food and drinks served, but we do not and therefore the Forum is top of the local movie pile. read more

This was very cool. Deciding last minute to go see a movie it was amazing to walk in the building and to see the use of it. Loved it
