Munger Park is a 32-acre park developed on land donated by Cinergy-PSI. It is named after Thomas and Alice Munger, whose $100,000 donation made development possible. The park was dedicated in 1997. The trail, which I found very accessible, offers lots of open space for frisbee play. The trail goes around the pond and fishing is permitted (state regs apply). Munger Park participates in Indiana DNR's urban fishing program called FishIN in the City. The shelter is located next to the asphalt parking lot off of Greenbush Street. As Ken N. notes in his review, if you want the playground, enter at the south entrance; the north entrance offers the shelter, lake, and hiking. You can easily access all of it without moving the car if you're able to walk/roll, etc. about one mile. The shelter is available for rent each day of the week. You can reserve online, though be aware reservations are non-refundable. This is a really attractive park. It's relaxing, well cared for, and offers great views and easy ways to enjoy the area and take a stroll. The park also has benches to relax along the way. I'd easily return on future trips. This may be more of a 4-star, however, I liked it enough that I'm sticking with the 5-star rating.

It was reimagined almost 10 years ago in 2014. There is free street parking available for the park and you could also park in the Bauer Family Center lot, which it sits behind. The park is not very big and has a decent full basketball court, a shelter with picnic tables under it, and a a couple of playgrounds. There is fitness equipment there, but it looks to be in fair condition, and thats generous. There are two playground areas here. They are both on the rubbery mat surface that are popping up at most new parks. There is an area for smaller kids that is fenced in and has a jungle gym with a tiny bridge, and some slides. There is also a low hanging swing there and a metal bench for caregivers to sit and watch the littles play. The other playground area, for bigger kids, has a bank of traditional/toddler swings. This area features a monstrous jungle gym contraption over there. As well as a stand up see-saw, and seat spinners. The equipment seems relatively new and is in great repair. The park has a hole seems to be well maintained and was clean. There is a fence around the entire park's perimeter. Other park amenities include a shower, which I found random, a glider swing, a share a book kiosk, and some benches (the Buddy Bench). This is not a destination park, but is a very nice community park that is nestled in a small neighborhood.

There are distinct playgrounds for different age groups and on the older kid side, there is a basketball court too. Parking is limited to street parking for the park visitors, but there is a lot for the Bauer Family Center if visiting both places. I was able to street park on Fountain St without any problems. There is also a small shelter area for shade since the trees on the property are on the perimeter and don't offer much shade to the playground. It is a very modern park that is lined with the rubbery surface that most of the new parks are using. It has a half basketball court with an adjustable rim. The court is in great shape and has a bench along the baseline for spectators to sit and watch. You will find a very nice paved walking/jogging trail that goes around the perimeter of the park, as well as trails leading to the park from nearby neighborhoods. The bathroom facility at the park is very well maintained and is one of the better ones that I have seen in a park. They serviced the restrooms and trash while I was there. The park has two picnic shelters with tables under it and one has a couple of grills just outside of it. The playground is awesome. It has top-notch modern equipment. One side of the playground area has a very nice large jungle gym with a couple of slides, one of which is a spiral slide. There is also a bank of swings with traditional and ADA swings, a spinning net sphere, a pull up bar, and an interactive light game. This side is intended for 5 and older, but my 3 year old spent most of his time over here. On the other side is play equipment for smaller kids. There is a bank of toddler swings, a small jungle gym with a tunnel and slides, a couple of see-saws, a modern merry-go-round, and an expression swing. In between both area is some picnic tables and percussion musical instruments. Both play areas have benches on one side of it for parents to sit and on the other side (outer perimeter) are some workout equipment between some more benches, under a nice shade bearing awning. The workout equipment is intended for those over 14 years old. The equipment happens to face the respective playgrounds, so parents can get their workout on while keeping an eye on their littles. On final feature of the park is its green space. There is a patch of grass that can be used for playing catch, soccer, football, or flying a kite. It can also be used for working out or having a picnic. The only downfall of this space is that it is like in like a little crater. So, it gets very soggy after rain and snowfall and takes a while to dry. I really like this park. My littles and I spent about 2 hours here. It is not very big, spanning 5 acres, but still has a lot to do. This is definitely a destination park and was well worth the 40 minute ride for me to get here.

Enjoy watching as your littles play the musical instruments or as they pick ent size of slide they prefer.

It means that the playground was designed for children of all abilities, so there's something for most everyone. Much of the playground equipment can be accessed by wheelchair users and children with limited mobility. There's also an inclusive swing set with harnesses, a ground-level merry-go-round with an adult push handle, and wheelchair-accessible playground structure with ramps. Not all of the playground is equally accessible, but the newer parts are. Some of the other features of the playground include a geometric rope climbing structure, slides (including tube slides), and swings (toddler swings and a tire swing). Parents with young children will appreciate that there is a fenced playground here! Those are hard to find. This helps contain kids who like to run off, and keeps them within their adult's eyesight. The playground also has exercise equipment near the playground, including an elliptical and rowing machine. Seashore Waterpark is located in Memorial Park, and it is open seasonally -- typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The waterpark has a zero-depth entry, and pools that go to 3 feet deep, plus water slides, an oversized bucket that spills out, a lazy river, a water walk and a wave pool. There's a little cabin on the park grounds, which is a space you can rent out for parties and such. The cabin has a full functioning bathroom, refrigerator and two fireplaces. There are also six picnic tables inside the cabin, as well as four tables outside of the cabin. Other things you'll find at Memorial Park are picnic shelters, a pavilion, pickleball courts, basketball courts, baseball field and volleyball courts. There is a lot of fun at this little park.

For instance, although there is a parking lot, there is also a gravel pulloff along the street for parking. The parking lot is separated from the road by a ten foot stretch of grass. Even though "entrance" and "exit" are painted on the lot, it makes no sense to be unconnected to the street. I surmise that the lot may have had some other use previously and was converted to make additional parking for the ball diamond within the park. The park does have a playground and a single shelter with benches. There is also a basketball court that is looking like it needs some upkeep. There are far better parks within Frankfort.
