As a graduate of Cle Elum Roslyn High School (c/o 2010), I feel the need to leave a review. Yes, I…read moreknow and understand that many changes can occur within a four year span, but why shouldn't I leave a constructive review? TEACHERS: Teachers can come and go, but you'll always have those instructors that have the ability to keep you on your toes in learning and teach in ways many others cannot. I encountered a couple of these teachers through this school district. My hats are off to those who make Cle Elum/Roslyn their home and work hard to educate the young men and women in the community. If I were to base my whole review on the teachers in the school district, I'd rate them 4 stars. ADMINISTRATION: As for the administration when I attended the school district, I would give them a two star rating. We did have a different principal back then, however, the district administration has remained. The people up in the admin office always tended to hold themselves above the teachers, and in my opinion, it was the teachers that made the difference in the community. They get 2 stars from me. SPORTS: Athletics at Cle Elum - Roslyn give the students an opportunity to do other things instead of getting into trouble. Baseball, softball, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, track and field, cross country, soccer, tennis, and football are all options to play. We've got some great coaches for how small of a school district we are. I would rate the athletics with a 4 star. FACILITIES: They just finished a revamp of the football field and "stadium"; it looks great. With that said, the high school is in dire need of a renovation. In 2007, the community voted on if a new high school should be built... It didn't pass and had a lower 50% approval rate. The community needs to realize that the young people who grow up in the area need to have a place of education where they are excited to come to. The facilities, at least in the high school, are in a 1 star condition. OVERALL OPPORTUNITY: In conclusion, the opportunities given in the Cle Elum - Roslyn school district can be rated at a 3 star. There are some clubs for students to join and there was Running Start being offered when I was attending. Not only the administration, but the Cle Elum/Roslyn community as well needs to come to terms with the fact that the more time and effort put into the young people's population, you'll see the drug use, crime rate and negative impacts decrease.

The dark haired lady in the back of the front of office is super nice. I personally will try to talk over the rude lady to the nice lady just to avoid feeling like I am inferior for no reason. Our daughter does like the school itself and she seems to learn better here than other schools. Here's an update. Our child has a medical condition where she needs to have access at any time to the bathroom. And under regulations students with a medical issue must be excused from school when necessary. Apparently the front desk doesn't feel she is allowed those privelages and that she doesn't have a medical condition. Do we need to share with you her scar across her stomach where they had to put her intestines back into her? Next step school board. This is unacceptable. Lady next time you hang up on us we will trek to the school on foot (since we are snowed in and can't get a vehicle out of our road, since they don't plow low traffic areas). You can't hang up on us if we are in front of you.

They make kids more late by holding them up at an attendence line. No matter how early you bring your kids, your child will be late because they will literally hold your kids up for a half hour writing up an attendence slip. And my child is expected to walk a half an hour to school in whatever weather it is outside cause theres no school bus because we live to close to the school. I wouldnt be so upset if my daughter was actually learning something in cause but so far the only thing I is stuff that she already learn from her previous her previous school.

Think hard, don't lie to yourself... Does your child need a bit of support academically? Do you…read morethink they might? Do you want small class sizes? Are they on meds that need to be administered at school? Are they Neurodiverse (Dyslexic, Anxiety, ADHD, Autistic, Dyscalculia, etc.)? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, this school probably isn't for you. We really loved the school when the kid was younger. But, partway through the lower school, supports and amenities suddenly got a lot more scarce! The Middle School is even worse. Were the staff at fault? Usually not. Decisions were made and the kids that needed a bit of help paid the price. There isn't a school nurse. They have remodeled some of the specialist-type classrooms to convert them into classrooms. There has been quite a bit of staff leaving in the last 5 years. There isn't a real 9:1 kid to teacher ratio in practice, they use alternative accounting practices including counting staff members like the librarian (kids see the librarian for an hour or less per week while most teachers rush back to their rooms for preparation time leaving the librarian often alone with the kids). Teacher assistants in the lower school are not necessarily full time and are often pulled from class to cover teachers and things like playground duties. The administration is actively trying to add more students per class, and more classes overall, as all administrators are prone to do. In short, while it is a beautiful school, it isn't for everyone. Try not to be dazzled and ask the hard questions. See if this is right for your family. It is an expensive question to get wrong.

The curriculum prepares children for both future academic and social challenges and the environmental education (there is an additional 26-acre farm campus) promotes great responsibility. Highlights include: -Class sizes average 16 students. -The main teacher generally stays with their class from 1st-8th grade. -Media/corporate/commercial-free environment. -No Common Core or standardized testing. -Lots of outside time for every grade level -Kids that like going to school and thrive! This is a well rounded educational experience that helps develop sharp, motivated and emotionally strong young humans.
