After getting stranded due to some car trouble the other day, we had my mom's car towed to West's based on two things: a) their reasonable labor rate and b)that they had previously helped my mom out when her car was overheating over the summer, with no expectations in return. They gained points for that so we were willing to give them our business. We're both in need of our inspections in about a month or so, so this was a test run in a way. We dropped off her car to them about an hour before they closed on Thursday evening and it was ready to go the next day. Quick and efficient service at a very reasonable rate. They didn't try to take advantage of us (let's be honest - half the time if you are a woman and dealing with a mechanic it feels like they're trying to take advantage of your assumed lack of knowledge). I will ABSOLUTELY be returning to them in April when it's time for my dreaded inspection, and I will visit their quaint little full service gas station whenever I'm in need and in the area. :)

Placed our take-out order over the phone and when we arrived, found out that they don't actually have sheet pizzas. They ended up giving us 3 large pizzas, but it took a long time since their oven isn't meant to crank out a ton at once. The pizzas were a bit over-done, but it was something about the crust that reminded me of Pizza Hut. For gas station pizza, it did it's job. Fingers were tenders and really not that great. Didn't realize that it didn't come with blue cheese (not even ranch) until we got to our campsite. Live and learn. So long story short, this pizza will do in a pinch. Just note that they really don't have sheet pizzas like their menu indicates.

The TA truck stop on Rt 77 was just the place. It wasn't overly busy, I was seated in a timely manner. The name of the restaurant at this truck stop is Country Pride. I looked over the lunch menu and was pleasantly surprised at the variety of meals available to choose from. I ordered the Hand-breaded buttermilk chicken, deep fried and crispy, with bacon, pepper jack cheese and savory pepper sauce, and ohhhh myyyyy stars! It was fabulous! Instead of french fries, I opted to have the tater tots... THESE WERE THE BEST ! Not only were the crispy and crunchy, you could tell they were deep fried in CLEAN oil. I was impressed!! I just might go back and get a double order by themselves, hahaha! The waitress was friendly and the prices are decent and affordable.

I was last here about 2 weeks ago to sneak an iced tea for myself (Upstate Farms) which I don't usually drink anymore, but once in awhile it's not the end of the world. The guy that works here is really nice and I like to come here for gas once in awhile because they are such nice people. Plus it's open around the clock and conveniently located in an area with not much open late at night. I live about 10 mins from here. What I like about this store, despite the iffy service, is that they sell the Upstate Farms Iced Tea (Lemon) that I used to be addicted to. Most places don't. And I really appreciate that, as it's amazing iced tea. Still, the gas here is pretty pricy so I can't give it a 5. But the excellent service and the iced tea ensure it scores a very healthy 4. Be very careful in this parking lot in the winter... it gets icy, and becomes like walking on a hockey rink.

You know, that little thing you can use to keep the pump held closed without having to hold it so your gas pumps but your hands don't freeze in the winter? I don't know what they're really called... Anyway, I stopped on my way home from ladies night last night after my sister drove my SUV down to fumes. My 15 gallon tank was so empty, it actually took 15.9 gallons of gas... Yikes! Saved in the nick of time! I made the huge mistake of looking up while I was pumping my gas and I saw some of the hugest sharpest looking spiders ever in huge webs all over the top of the pump and roof... I literally just got the willies remembering how menacing they looked (I have an irrational fear of spiders). But I'm glad they were there and not in my yard or around my house... Blech! If you're nuts like me, don't look up. Well, maybe you should because then you'll know that nothing is about to fall on your head. Or maybe it is... Okay, gas pumps are great, the little pump stopper thingy is great, snacks in the store are great, cashier always friendly. But those spiders... I'll stop now... Haha!

However we are focusing on the 49 Express here, so let me do just that. Why are you still paying 40 cents more for petrol than you need to? Just down the road from where I live is an Indian Reservation which I am ashamed to admit, I only just discovered. This is not the cheapest gas on the res... it's the second cheapest... the cheapest is just round the corner at "Western Door." However this one is the cheapest if you don't want to use gas and prefer to use a credit card... by 2 cents. And that's my 2 cents. This one is also full service... the pro is that you don't have to exit your car if it's cold, but the con is that you should tip... one or two dollars is fine, or more if you are feeling generous... and that adds quite a bit to the per-gallon price if you think about it. If you get gas at 2.50 per gallon, and it's 2.80 in town... and then you pump 10 gallons and then give a $1 tip... you actually paid 2.60 per gallon. If you give a $2 tip, you actually paid $2.70. And so on. Tipping is something you expect when you pump in New Jersey (hi Linda!) but not so much in NY. Still if you want full serv or to pay with a card, this is your place. They are very friendly here too and will give you good advice about your car. While dressed from head to toe in hunting gear. As an example of pricing, when it's $2.79 all over Buffalo, it's $2.39 here. It varies, but that's about how much you will save. i.e. a lot. Now about that 69 Express.
