Brutally bad. They turned the task of opening a checking account into a 6 week process that led to…read morethe account being closed. Opened an account online, but was then told we needed to go to branch to add my wife. Went in and signed paperwork. One week, nothing. Two weeks, nothing. Finally they tell me the agent made mistake and I had to redo paperwork. I complete paperwork and order checks and debit card. Along the way I never funded account since I had no access to it. Received an email saying fund by 11/30 or it will be closed. So, I set up to fund by 11/29 but when I log in, the account was already closed a day early. Two hours in phone loop hell and I end up with there is nothing they can do and I need to start over. Really? Avoid!

They have replaced friendly helpful employees with a constantly revolving door of the most recent graduates. You will have to wait for the financial managers and consultants to finish the Whoppers at their desks before getting anything notarized. This branch's banking hours are very inconvenient for the working man and woman, as they open after a typical working day starts and close before it ends. HSBC also recently instituted a rule requiring a $1,500 minimum checking account or linked accounts to avoid a $15 fee, while other banks still don't require such a checking account fee. HSBC's phone customer service is laughable, as the department you call never takes the blame for their errors and will seize on the opportunity to transfer or hang up on you. Closing my accounts took several days consisting of several phone calls since the representative at the branch lied about closing my accounts when I attempted to do it in person.
