They call it a "supportive" housing community because it helps people in need. Its likely the largest such organization in the East Bay with over 500 residents. They have on-site counselors that work with the residents and prospective residents. They also offer connections to potential jobs and vocational training. Lastly, they provide youth services for the community in the form of tutoring and enrichment activities. Please support APC. Its organizations like this that silently help our brothers and sisters in the community out of the poverty cycle.

She's good friends with my harasser and caseworker, so I do I even battle with that. Keisha Johnson, is the lead case management at Bessie Coleman Court, and she was initially my caseworker there. Keisha, was telling my personal information to her other clients, I know because she was the only person that I had confided in. Afterwards I would her residents taunting me about my personal information that I told the caseworker. Shortly after I put in for a new caseworker but the new caseworker informed me that any and everything we speak about goes through her boss and lead supervising case management Keisha Johnson. Bessie Coleman Court, residence receives gift card, toy, food and other help but 10/2022 was the last time I received anything. Which was two gift cards for target one was $30 and the other was $100. Although I felt as if my daughter and I should have received more but we didn't. We didn't receive anything for Thanksgiving, but everyone else did. Except for my daughter and I. Christmas is roughly a week away and my daughter and I still haven't received anything but every other family will and I am quite sure has already. I haven't been home regularly for almost a year and this year we won't even spend Christmas. Because of my harasser and their family and friends. I've been threatened and my child. Of shooting the bitch, that's me. I've been living in a hotel. Tell me why last we I saw out the pep hole my harassers daughter and a male leave the room next door to me passing by my room cursing me and had never crossed paths with me since being at the room? Are tell me why every evening I hear my harassers upstairs cursing me? I told property management that some guy came and was near my car that man bugged my car. Because I would her the lady cursing me everywhere I go. I believe that want people to think I am crazy but far from it. How do I prove my allegations if I don't have nobody that could find the bug that has been planted on my car? She doesn't have any money to pay for the hotel rooms, which means the supervising case management and long time friend is miss using the work finances. Just because the room aren't in her name the hotel rooms are still being paid for in Fremont, CA. Why is anything being paid out so far away and the complex and business is in Alameda, CA? I've informed property management but excuse my French a whole bunch of black workers that lie and try and cover things up. Okay tell me this if Alameda Point Collaborative, has been working closely with the Alameda Police Department, the why has my harasser still allowed too live at the complex? She has over thirty police calls from harassing and attacking other residents. I witnessed one attack on Mother's Day, and that day my harasser's daughters were there and one daughter had just been released from prison after serving over four years. The released criminal started messing with a neighbor and shortly after the whole family started attacking the lady and her young son. Throwing liquor on them through the screen door and spraying mace through the lady door. Police did come but I didn't want too get involved no one went to jail, but I called the supervising case management, told her everything but she just hide everything and nothing was ever done. I informed case management and they say some bullshit like it was report to us nor in a proper manner of time. You tell me if that place is a bunch of crap! I believe they are jealous because I was ordering my daughter so much every time I felt like it but it's not me my Father, in heaven is rich so he showers me with his love...

Some weak concert that is cancelled must of the time, instead of food trucks and local craft beer closing the streets and having an actual cool downtown event. -so that said, we leave every weekend to go to Walnut Creek, Concord, Lafayette where is clean, nice people, free parking, no one is breaking into your car, this places have free concerts and great planning events and than we come back to crazy Berkeley to work...can't wait to retired so yes the downtown association main member John will come hang out at your restaurant, eat and drink Ride his bike around town yet besides that I don't see the benefits plus the bright yellow street cleaning crew..why not employ some of the homeless people that are not mentally ill instead? I guess I should stop here, it is Berkeley and it will always be Berkeley a dump with great restaurants and Cal. That's all is is.

I wish every town had something like the DBA - they provide so many important services to the…read moredowntown area. They really have made the downtown look prettier with all the planters and cleaning, and they provide a forum for local businesses to promote events. But I think the most important service they provide is outreach and helping de-escalate situations that occur on the street, providing an alternative and safer option to calling the police. I really appreciate the presence of the ambassadors and think they do a fantastic job overall.

It's about a street and the shops on the street, but it's also a state of mind. Lots of people are members of the group even if they are somewhat far afield from the street itself. Alan Cain, the current Executive Director of the Association, is a ball of fire when it comes to keeping things moving and keeping people involved. The Solano Stroll - the September mile-long street faire - is a great coming-together of food and fun and people watching. SAA is ultimately responsible for all that.

Their mission (and they do it and great) is to support members with services, resources, and community connections so they can enjoy vibrant, healthy and fulfilling lives in their own homes and live more independently. I am a very satisfied member of this great volunteer organization and there is little they can not or do not provide, mostly volunteer, and has pretty much saved me from moving by keeping me and my home safe and has field trips and activities that are fun and stimulating, even educational and each member and volunteer has been wonderful and reassuring to me. They provide: Home safety evaluations, Minor home repairs (installing bath bars, hand rails, special electric outlets, fire and other alarms, and fire extinguisher and more in home help for safety. Rides to medical appointments, grocery shopping, hair/nail salons..., Help with simple home and yard chores. Computer, cell phone and other technology services, shuttle to airport, and so much more and so well done and all are committed, kind, helpful, and enjoy helping others to thrive, not just survive, and lead a good life and enjoy social activities and help beyond one's imagination. I have no idea how I survived before joining Villages of San Mateo County. I cannot say enough the gift of being safe and knowing they are here for me means to my well-being, health and being connected to a super group of volunteers. But YB programs are still running strong across the 50 states and even internationally folks are taking the mold and creating programs that are aimed to help out-of-school youth make themselves marketable to today's workforce and well themselves. Youthbuild is a national non-profit organization that is helping folks build a community from the inside out, working on internal needs, while getting extrenal trainning. Crazy how folks wouldn' trust a knucklehead with a hammer, and now they're buidling houses for people all over the dayum place. HAHA.

After signing, the terms were changed and new requirements were introduced that were never disclosed during the approval process. A formal determination was later issued contradicting the prior approvals and agreement. This experience raised serious concerns about transparency and consistency.

What better way to help your community than getting a bunch of volunteers for Rebuilding Together?…read more Basically, there is a contruction captain and volunteer captain who help recruit and manage the volunteers from your organization in order to renovate old homes that need repairing. These repairs include painting the walls, installing new energy efficient appliances, and building furniture. It's a great team building exercise for a good cause. It used to be called Christmas in April. Now it's Rebuilding Together Day on 4/28/07.

They give you the run-around and lie to you about getting you into low income housing. They tell you to have a job and then when you do get one, they drop you from the program, because you are not available to work for free for them. Eileen Richardson, who started the program made over a millionaire dollars from using all those people who actually thought they were going to be helped with housing. They are a disgrace!! I am a proud alum of Girls Inc of Alameda County and jump at any opportunity to give back to an…read moreorganization that literally changed my life for the better. They moved into well-deserved new digs in Oakland so I worried that my hometown connection might fade. The volunteer coordinator Nicki Guard and her crew of committed volunteer leaders maintain contact via email and social media so that I can still make time for this beloved non-profit whenever my hectic schedule permits. Yesterday I took part in a book leveling party. Several professional women gathered early in the morning at Think College Now School in the Fruitvale and met with the Dean of Instruction and Girls Inc staff for bagels, coffee, and fruit before spending the next few hours organizing the bookroom. We labeled materials to a background of smooth jazz and enjoyed convo about love of books and childhood memories of school. Girls Inc has a variety of volunteer opportunities so don't hesitate to sign up.
