They did not allow me to take the car however it seemed like they completed everything else, including placing a car seat into the car we rented. They said because the credit card had my name on it instead of my husband (the only difference is our first name) they couldn't give me the keys.
Fast forward to 4 hours later, we went to get the car and they acted like they had never heard of us. They had given away the car and stuck us with the worst automatic model we had ever had the displeasure of driving. Furthermore, they didn't have any child car seats left and we had to wait for a full hour for them to get a car seat from a nearby rental. The seat they gave us was practically falling apart-it was uncomfortable and unsafe. When I tried to ask the woman who worked at the front desk of the Hertz rental to try and hurry because this is exactly what I was trying to avoid, she looked up from her phone, said, "But it's not my fault," and continued texting. The car they gave us was dirty.
The whole thing felt like the Hertz employees did this on purpose, because we are American, and clearly don't want us as customers. No problem there, you couldn't pay me to use Hertz again.
Update: Hertz has now processed 2 additional charges to my credit card over the span of one month. They have not responded to my inquiries as to what these charges are for.
