My husband wanted to try more of the sides so he ended up getting their 3 side plate (fried okra, baked bean, and corn pudding). Their Special on Tuesdays is their bone in ribs. Im a fan of the City BBQ franchise. I have visited many of them across state lines and the food is pretty consistent. The prices are fairly the same at all locations. I love the cowbell with brisket, peppers and onions. I also love the potato salad and green beans. The ambiance is always pleasant especially being greeted at the door with the smoky bbq that hits your nose immediately! I believe I start to drool when I first walk in! Lol. Chose inside though outside was available. A nice gentleman brought us our trays filled with almost a little something from the entire menu. Do not EVER rely on City Barbecue for an online order! My recent experience with City Barbecue left me genuinely shocked. I placed an order for what was supposed to be a special New Year's Eve dinner, only to find out that when we went to pick up the food at 7:45 pm, they had run out of food, and the manager, Kendall, could not have cared less. I had an order number and confirmation text, and to quote the manager, Kendall, 'Sorry for the inconvenience'. Really? That is the extent of your apology? It was much more than an 'inconvenience' to find out at 7:45 that we were not going to have any food for our guests. When I asked why we weren't notified earlier, Kendall blamed the online order system that he said didn't work properly. That didn't make sense because I ordered it from their website. When I said if they had notified us, we could have planned something else, he said they didn't have time to look at the online orders, even though I placed the order TWO HOURS PREVIOUSLY. So, if you plan on ordering from them, you now know they aren't checking the orders, and if they run out, you won't be notified. Kendall did offer to substitute pulled chicken, but I would have to pay for it. It seems like some offer of a discount would have made sense. But in keeping with the entire experience he didn't care enough to bother. I was informed that David Steiger is the Regional Director. We submit a huge catering order for around 50 students and they did such an excellent job!! The catering was there before dinner time, which gave them enough time to set up. It was only 1 girl who came from the business, and while we were working, she was setting everything up, making it presentable. We get lots of catering from different restaurants and it's safe to say, we were the MOST impressed with City BBQ. Other places often just dump the food and leave, making us set up. But this worker did it all by herself and we were so grateful!! The pickles were absolutely delicious. Salty dill with such a great crunch. I also had some green beans which were delicious with pieces of brisket scattered throughout. Our only complaint, was that it ended up not being enough food. Now this isn't their fault, but the worker who set up said to us "if you need more, just call us up and place another order and we can do that!!!" Well, we quickly realized the power of hungry teen boys and called them back to place an order for more meat. The worker who answered was unhelpful and said catering was closed for the night. I had to drive all the way there and place an order for a Party Pack (which was literally more than enough since we can choose how many people we want to feed (we didn't need 50 like the first time, only grabbing a bit like 8-10)). Im not sure why they didn't ask us if we would like a party pack on the PHONE, since it was ready about 5-10 minutes after I ordered it at the counter. My friends son graduated from high school today and we looked for a place that could accommodate a party of 17, well this was it! On a Friday night we were able to easily order a party platter large enough for everyone. ALL of the staff were super helpful especially Jakari who took our order. Matt is the GM and he made sure we were good before we left. Great manager because when I gave a complement he gave all credit to his staff. I see why they looked like they enjoyed their work. I absolutely love city barbecue, but it's not one in Concord so I don't visit often. After a long day, I decided to pop in to grab some food and dessert. I was a bit apprehensive because it looks rather dark, and I didn't think that the restaurant was open, but to my surprise they are. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but I knew that I was starving. It was a line, but the manager came upfront and offered to assist. He had very good customer service and was friendly. His name is Seth. The other employees were nice too. I was glad that I made it in before the restaurant closed. I ordered brisket and chicken. My sides are macaroni and cheese and green beans and I ordered a peach cobbler the big one, not the little one! It is so delish. What I like... * Pretty darn good cue for a chain * They have smoked turkey as a regular menu item * You can order individual rib bones and they are even cheaper on Tuesday's * Good variety of sauce selections though overall their sauces are not my favorites * Consistency across locations * Sides in general are decent with the potato salad being really good IMO Things I'd like * Alabama white sauce option * Lose the limp spring mix as the base for the salads. I enjoyed my visit here to City Barbeque. I have never been here before. The first experience I had was at a Yelp event put on my Steve Smith last year. City Barbeque was there demoing their brisket and maybe pork sandwiches. After I had my first bite, I knew that I had to make a stop and visit them. It was that good. While I was doing some business in the University area, I decided to stop here and take food back home as a surprise to my hubby. I purchased the pulled chicken sandwich for him along with mac and cheese and fries. For me, I had the brisket sandwich along with mac and cheese and hush puppies. So I was a little skeptical about the mac and cheese as I am with most restaurants, but the young lady behind the register provided me with a sample. After I tasted the sample, I was all in. The food was great. My brisket and his chicken was moist. The sides were hot. No complaints what so ever. I of course could not eat it all but I had a great time trying. The staff was great.
