This review focuses on a product that City Brewery brews for nationwide distribution. It is Rockdale Light Beer. It seems to be primarily sold in Walmart Supercenters. I admit that there is this uptight component of the constitution that makes me the unique person that I am. Whether it be after a hard day of working my backside off, time spent in traffic, or whatever life throws in my path; I prefer to unwind with a bullet beer. In beer parlance a bullet beer is a 24 ounce can or 32 ounce bottle. My bullet beer of choice is Bud Ice and Miller High Life. However, on the days when I shop at a Walmart Supercenter that has run out of my bullet beer of choice there is usually the City Brewery brewed Rockdale Light on their shelf. Following Walmart's mantra of "Save money and Live Better," it currently goes for $1.26 a can. This is the exact price that a 25 ounce Bud Ice cost a few years back. Taste: How does a 24 ounce of light beer taste that costs $1.25 nearly half the price of Miller Light at $2.17? The key word is" light." " Light" beer is the equivalent of diet soda. In my opinion the taste of the City Brewery brewed Rockdale Light is at the halfway point of vomit (as in Earthquake beer or Hurricane) and cream (Corona and Heinekin). It is without a doubt drinkable. I appreciate that it does not have a strong taste. The taste is lemony, in my humble opinion. Influence on the brain: Disparite from strong beer such as Bud Ice or Steel Reserve, Rockdale Light has a very subtle influence on me when I drink it. I feel in control. It doesn't leave me drowsy or slightly buzzed like some of the strong bullet beer does. Again, this is a light beer. However I would not get behind the wheel or write a review under its subtle influence. It is a subtle influence that relaxes me while I visit the cyber world through the computer, listen to a podcast, enjoy music, or other form of enjoyment. It is hard to believe that it has a 4.2 alcohol content. Final words: Rockdale Light is not my beer of choice. However when the Walmart Supercenter runs out of my bullet beer of choice, the 24 ounce Rockdale Light has been the right plan B. At $1.26 price point, Walmart shoppers might need a "plan c" when I buy it out. Buying it out is an exaggeration. Nevertheless, I will buy a couple. It is nice to have a can or two of bullet beer in the fridgein case I run out or had a really rotton day where I could use two bullet size light beers. I work for the brewery as a temp. It is a good place to work with a laid back work enviroment. Good people and a very good place to work.

I am a semi truck driver and had both a delivery and a pick up at City Brew. The people all are nice but there are no real toilets for truck drivers; they brought in two portable toilets but that's more of an insult to the driver from a company that clearly makes a lot of money. The parking lots for semis are in very poor condition in that one is not paved and neither of the two lots I went to were adequately plowed (ice everywhere which makes this already dangerous work even more dangerous). I have three stars as opposed to just one because every person I spoke with was polite (which is unfortunate a rare thing these days at most companies' shipping/receiving departments). Also, the fact that they do have 24 HRs parking for semi is a huge deal; many large companies do not which puts the driver in very bad situations. If they put in and maintained good toilet facilities for drivers and would have the snow and ice properly removed in winter, I'd give them four stars. For five stars I'd like to see much better signage for truck drivers and much better approach information supplied to brokers and carriers for the driver to follow in as La Crosse has some pretty tight streets and a lot of one-way streets. read more

This is spoken from a perspective of a truck driver who had to experience working with this company and their staff, At first I thought this company was gonna be great, it's big, usually with alcohol loads they do a good job at getting you out of there within 2 hours. Even tho the grumpy old man kept saying little remarks under his nose when I gave my pick up number, I still immediately got a door, GREAT! Right!? No, upon arrival to my dock I made sure to do all the requirements and safely managed to back it in along side 4-6 other trucks next to me. I sat one hour, nothing, two hours, some movement and then nothing. NO PROBLEM, figure I'll call the shipper who is responsible for handling communications between drivers because one of their policy is we as drivers are not allowed leave our trucks while being docked..... so now we are stuck at the door, shipper chooses not to respond or call back after 5-6 calls. I am hungry and running out of hours, would love it if I didn't get stuck on the side of the road for 10 hours for the price of someone else's lack of efficiency. For being a company that big, I would think they hold their employees accountable because corporate companies understand lost time is lost money.... then why is it that they choose to take their time handling their loads and indirectly take money away from other people who have to actually work efficiently during their jobs in order to make a living. That is unacceptable.... the only person in the company who took the time to help me is a kind gentleman who's job is to load to product, not do the job of the person sitting inside the shipping office who doesn't see drivers time or concerns as anything important enough to respond to. read more
