Went there this evening with an open mind. Now looking back, wish my mind was closed. Absolutely shocking display of food. Dried, dried, dried, unrecognisable, frozen, barely edible. NO disable toilet access, which is shocking to say the least. Chef overlooking the buffet was more interested in what I was eating than anything else, following us everywhere. I think he was interested to see if I could keep the grub down. The food was obviously warmed up from the previous day, or week even! Soup of the day? Pink tomato soup, dishwater. Icecream? You gotta ask for it. Water? You gotta buy it ffs. Have been to many eateries, Taybarns, china china, model T, but this place comes nowhere near, waste of money. Would strongly advise keeping well clear. Go have a chinese, kebab, pizza, mcdonalds, anywhere but here! Upside? Was very clean, oh, and quiet (empty)....... Would voluntary give up a testicle than go there again......... EDIT: All comments in favour of City Buffet? What medication are you taking? Why do you think the place is so empty? I can tell you why, cause word gets about, and the word is, City Buffet is sh!te. I can guarantee some of these posts are from staff working at City Buffet, cause noone with a single remaining taste bud would endorse such crap. ''at city buffet you can tell the food is a proper home british cooking'' hahaha what rubbish. Please nelighten me, what part of the menu was british? The chips? lol Even the chefs are foreign, so wheres the home british cooking? :-) ''Taybans is well below City buffet'' hahaha yea right. That's why Taybarns is always heaving, and City Buffet have to resort to dressing like micky mouse up station road to attract people in. Why? Cause everyone knows its trash :-) The food is dried up, left over from the previous day. People who enjoy this place obviously do not know what real dining is. They have one HUGE narrow flight of stairs to the toilets. So if you have any difficulty walking, or are and oap who struggles, don't bother, or take a colostomy bag, cause you WON'T make it in time. I will guarantee City Buffet will not be in Station Road this time next year. EDIT: Since my review, City Buffet has ceased trading and closed the doors. Told you they wont be here this time next year? Not with the slop they were serving up..... read more

First impression, bright, clean and quiet (empty). Wish we had looked before paying. The waitress was friendly, but didn't know what Chardoney was! and took ages just to take our order for our drinks. Food was unrecognisable, dried up and looked like it had been there ages! The plates were hot and that was the only thing! We had to ask what the food was as we couldn't tell. The only nice thing I found was the beetroot at the salad section and the hot plates were hardly appropriate for that! At least our disabled friends out there should be spared the disappointment if we dont recommend this place as it has NO FACILITIES for them. The ONLY toilets are up a steep flight of stairs!!! OMG Keep your hard earned money ... Forgot to mention, the soup.. Tomato? It was pink! Ever so slightly watered down. YUCK. read more
