They have so much to choose from and you will be able to find everything you are looking for. If you are a vegetarian/vegan you should definitely visit this Farmer's Market. I love City Famers Market. It is a giant Asian grocery store that has such a huge variety of fruits, vegetables, meats, and household goods. You can find almost anything you're looking for here, and for a great price! They also have a bakery, as well as a restaurant attached to the front so you can have a full meal and do your grocery shopping all in one place. Yesterday was the very first time I actually walked through City Farmers Market. I never realized just how big it was. I wasn't intimidated by this store, though, because it doesn't have quite the varied inventory that other big competitors have. One reason why I haven't made this one of my preferred stores is because I've seen the big, free parking lot so packed many times, convincing me to shop somewhere else. So many shoppers come to this store! While walking through the store, I was mentally comparing the prices here with the prices of some of its direct competitors (H Mart, Buford Highway Farmer's Market), and it all depended on what I was looking at. Produce here looked fresh and the prices were good, but the variety wasn't as good as BHFM). The seafood department was sparsely stocked, and many of the fish and shrimp didn't look that fresh. Whatever was supposed to be live (blue crabs and crayfish) looked more dead than alive. The meats were fresh, and were generally higher priced. Bags of rice were priced competitively. Multiple employees at the cash registers got the customers in the lines quickly through the check out process. read more

I was utterly shocked to find a second City farmers market just up the street from the other location I have been going to regularly. Overall, the selection is more catered to Asian cuisine as opposed to the other one which is more Latin based. Produce quality seemed to be slightly less and more expensive but could also have been due to it being close to the end of the day. The signs are in English, Vietnamese, and Spanish which tells you what you need to know about City Farmers Market. The meat section is quite impressive. Any part of any animal, they've got it. Want the whole animal? They've got that too. Prices are quite low also. Some employees are more knowledgeable about items than others. Check out the chicharrones bar! I like how the market is clean and tidy. You're supposed to flash your receipt as you leave which is a little annoying though. City Farmers Market is good and especially convenient if you're on Buford Highway already and want to do a grocery run. Look for it behind Food Terminal. Parking isn't a problem. read more

My family and I are from out of town, but we herd this place was known for fresh produce, meats, and other products. The prices are decently low and the amount of products offered were abundant. I recommend the fruits, snacks, and items you need for international meals. I really liked the fresh smell of fruits when we were in the produce section, you could tell it was fresh or at least fragrant. The staff was hard to find, to answer questions and the store seemed a bit disorganized, but other than that, it was a good place to find international foods we couldn't find at other stores! Buford Highway Farmer's Market will always be my favorite place to get groceries in all of Atlanta, but I have found myself visiting City Farmer's Market just down the road quite often recently. Despite the former's vast selection of goods from around the world, City Farmer's Market consistently stocks a selection of goods I simply cannot always find at Buford. Notably, a constant supply of gongura (red sorrel, a sour South Indian leafy green), fresh Thai basil, and cheap boxes of off-season Kent and Ataulfo mangos keep me coming back to this particular store. The market has a solid selection of Hispanic and Chinese/Vietnamese dry goods, but options are more limited for other world cuisines. Prices on produce and dry goods here tend to run a few bucks cheaper than competitors. That being said, the quality of the produce can be subpar at times. Avoid the avocados in particular, as these often are past their prime. I have never gotten meat or fish here, but the selection seems good and, again, reasonably priced. City Farmer's Market will never replace my beloved BuHi Farmer's Market as my go-to spot, but it's worth a visit for great prices and certain harder to find groceries. read more

City Farmers Market is an Asian/Hispanic-centric farmers market that opened October 10, 2015 on Buford Highway between Chamblee Tucker and Chamblee Dunwoody Rds. It's in the shopping plaza where Buford Highway Flea Market used to be. This is a huge upgrade. The Vietnamese owner of City Farmers Market, Ben Vo, cleaned up and renovated the shopping plaza. It's now known as Cho Saigon and houses the farmers market, Saigon Tofu (a Vietnamese "fast food" shop comparable to Viet Tofu and VN Tofu), a wireless store, and spaces for other tenants. Vo also owns Hong Kong Supermarket in Norcross. It's obvious the similarities between Vo's two supermarkets and shopping centers. They both have tofu shops and places to get banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches). At the time of writing this review, a Big Wong BBQ is slated to open in a space next door to City Farmers Market. It may already be open when you read this. There's a Big Wong BBQ at the food court inside Hong Kong Supermarket and it's great. Longtime Atlantans may remember when Hong Kong Supermarket actually used to be on Buford Highway (near Clairmont Rd). It used to be *the* place I shopped for Asian groceries before the store moved, along with Happy Valley (seafood and dim sum restaurant), to Jimmy Carter Blvd in Norcross. Well now the market is back! Sort of. I think the market and shopping center look great. The market is big, bright, spacious, and clean. The aisles are neatly stocked with a colorful array of inventory. The parking lot is clean and nicely paved. Overall, it's nicer than Hong Kong Supermarket, but of course - it's newer. In a nutshell, this is how the major markets on/around Buford Highway compare: * City Farmers Market - great for Vietnamese food as well as Chinese and Hispanic food. * Super H Mart - national chain, great for Korean food. * Buford Highway Farmers Market - best all-around selection of ethnic foods, from Korean to Hispanic to Russian. * Mercado Fresco - as the name implies, Hispanic food. Note: Mercado Fresco sits where Hong Kong Supermarket used to be, in Plaza Fiesta. That market has changed owners/names at least two times between Mercado Fresco and Hong Kong Supermarket (e.g. Atlanta Farmers Market, Fiesta Farmers Market), so it hasn't been the most stable space over the last 15+ years. Produce quality varies. The produce section contains fruits such as rambutan, dragon fruit, durian, mangosteen, jackfruit, and longan. They have balut, which are partially developed chicken and duck embryos still in the egg. Duck is the traditional balut. It's sold for $0.99 an egg. Chicken balut is cheaper at $0.59 an egg. I always love walking through the meat and seafood departments of Asian markets to see all of the interesting cuts, animal parts/organs, and different seafood they carry. Here, they have everything you need to make an authentic bowl of pho or Bun Bo Hue (Vietnamese noodle soups) down to soup bones and pork blood. They have menudo (tripe or stomach, $2.49/lb), cow feet ($2.09/lb), beef honeycomb (another type of tripe, $2.99/lb), beef intestine ($2.79/lb), and beef liver ($1.39/lb). Examples of whole fish include silver pomfret ($8.99/lb), beltfish ($3.29/lb), largemouth bass ($4.19/lb), black pomfret ($3.99/lb), porgy (a.k.a. bream, $2.69/lb), and amberjack. Like other markets, the staff will clean, behead, and cut or fillet the fish to your liking. There's squid ($1.49/lb), jellyfish ($2.99/lb), and shrimp galore (many different varieties). Examples of molluscs include live oysters ($1.69/lb), manila clams, periwinkle snails ($4.99/lb), whole whelk ($3.99), and rice snails ($3.99/lb). There's a wide assortment of packaged food products from rice to noodles to sauces to frozen foods to beverages. The instant noodle selection spans two aisles and includes just about every instant noodle you can think of -- Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, etc. Drinks run the gamut and include products like mango Fanta, canned Vietnamese ca phe sua da (Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk), canned or bottled Thai tea, canned Mong Lee Shang pearl soybean drinks, Yeo's soymilk, and even Thai Vitamilk (soy drink). They also stock Korean ginseng drinks (in glass bottles with ginseng roots) and Chinese bird's nest drinks (perfect to accompany your next game of mahjong). At the front of the store, there's a Hispanic bakery and a Lee's Sandwiches (Vietnamese) shop. There's a self-serve display next to the bakery which contains a variety of fresh-baked breads and pastries. At the counter, you can order things like birthday cakes. Lee's Sandwiches sells banh mi and other Vietnamese snacks and beverages. They sell Vietnamese iced coffee out of prepackaged bottles. You can actually purchase gallons of the stuff (concentrate) for $26.99 a gallon. If you want made-to-order drinks, go next door to Saigon Tofu (same owner). Having another Asian supermarket in the Chamblee neighborhood is always a welcome addition - Buford Hwy Farmers Market and Super H Mart probably wouldn't agree :) City Farmers Market is located in the former Flea Market space, near the Chamblee Tucker intersection. The new supermarket is Vietnamese-owned - when I went to the grand opening yesterday, most of the customers were either Southeast Asian or Hispanic. The store layout reminded me of Hong Kong Supermarket. Huge selection of produce and very clean and fresh looking - hope this continues beyond grand opening week. Prices were very competitive too. Great deals for the grand opening - my biggest score was Wild Caught Sushi-Grade Salmon Steaks for $3.99/lb! Other good deals - $1.99 for a 28oz bottle of Sriracha, $3.99 for 1lb of Duru Duru dumplings (my favorite dumpling brand), fresh herbs $1.39 (generous portion of thyme, mint, etc). I noticed a crowd of people buying bunches of Thai bananas ($.79/lb) - I bought one just to see what it tasted like (tasted denser ... as my friend said, I think I like the "fluffier" bananas better - lol! I love food shopping so it's nice to have another option. Secretly hoping they add a food court too :) I'll definitely be back for produce and seafood shopping. Even though a bit more expensive, I usually hit up Buford Highway Farmers Market or H-Mart (because less crowded). During off hours, though, I'll venture to City Farmers Market since they do have the most affordable produce in ATL. My favorite staples here include the following: - Shiitake, oyster, and king mushrooms - Papayas, blueberries, and blackberries - Bok choy, spinach, and broccoli - Rice (locally made) and egg noodles I also pickup Cafe du Monde coffee and occasionally pork or beef bones to cook soup. Opposite of the store, they also have a robust supply of Asian cookware. (Hello soup spoons!) During this coronavirus era, they could do a better job encouraging folks to stand six-feet apart, so if someone there is reading this, please do a better job keeping your shoppers safe. Other tidbits to take note: - Decent seafood selection, although, I've purchased red snapper a couple of times here, and it didn't taste so great. - Both a convenient store and bakery located inside - Building resembles the main market in Saigon, hence it's other name is Cho Saigon. What I love about Atlanta is the diversity of cuisine. Each year it looks like more and more restaurants with foods I have never had before pop up. Some are hits and others are misses. Similarly, there are tons of supermarkets that are labeled "Farmers Markets" and each has a regional specialty. For example, some of our farmers markets specialize in Latin American produce and spices while others are more focused on African dishes. Here at the City Farmers Market in Chamblee, this market is primarily Asian produce. I find it surprising that I can never find Pomelo anywhere. After all, it is the parent fruit of the grapefruit. Luckily, it's a popular fruit among Chinese folk so I always manage to find nice juicy pomelos here at City Farmers! They also have snow pea tips and other produce that I am looking for to make Chinese veggie dishes. They have a large meat section and tons of fresh seafood as well. Relatively clean compared to what some markets can look like! One of the best things about this market is the large Asian cookware section. Looking for a wok? What size? What material? With or without a handle? With or without a flat bottom? Do you need a claypot? What size? What do you plan to cook in there? What size soup spoon are you looking for? Do you want fancy or cheap? Whatever you're looking for you're certainly going to find it here first. Not even Amazon will be able to provide you the variety that they offer in this market. There's a lot of parking outside but it's always full. Plus people drive recklessly and park their shopping carts all over the place. This combination makes for a parking nightmare so I try to go on off hours either early in the morning or late in the evening. I also try to time it to go to Food Terminal which is right next door. They have good deals and if your not sure what something is or how to pick the fruit, just ask a shopper cuz the workers there don't t speak to well English. City Farmers Market is mostly a Vietnamese based grocery store. Its sister store, Hong Kong Supermarket, is my one of my favorites, mainly cause of the variety of ingredients I can find here. Maybe it's cause I'm Southeast Asian that I prefer this. I'm not going to lie, H Mart is cleaner but for me, it's about ingredient variety. Many decades ago, what used to be at City Farmers Market was a Flea Market. I like how they modernize the area and putting in lots of places to dine and shop. I was surprised to see Lee's Bakery inside! It's one of the few Vietnamese banh mi places that bakes their own breads daily. Fresh for you! City Farmers Market is really big like Hong Kong Supermarket with the variety, which I really like. To me, both of them have snacks catered towards what I grew up with. I shared some chips with my coworkers from Hong Kong Supermarket and found it also at City Farmers Market. Now, they don't have to go as far as Norcross to buy them and just get it in Chamblee. Love the convenience, relatively short lines, plentiful parking, and of course, the main reason I visit- the pupusa tent that is often set up in front of the market on Sundays. The weekly visit to the pupusa tent has replaced all other Sunday brunch routines. The $2 pupusas (cheese & pork-filled corn/masa flatcakes) are made in front of you as you order it, on flat griddles, and served on a disposible plate with sweet pickled cabbage & carrots (love the crunchy texture!) and a light tomato salsa. I like eating pupusas right away while fresh, so I either sit on the tables in front of the Vietnamese deli at the end of the plaza, or in my car. As a whole, this super market has shorter lines and less crowds, even during busy weekend shopping times. The fresh produce quality is spotty, but you can find some gems here and there. I like the fresh noodle selection (next to the produce), and the availability of Asian sauces. I don't know that i've seen two farmer's markets so close to one another, so when I Saw City Farmer's Market, just a couple miles from the BuHi farmer's market, I stopped on in to see what I could see. Like most farmer's market, their produce/fruit selections are both huge and priced affordably. There were actually much more affordable cuts of meat too, although I didn't purchase any at the time. Kinda catering to a Latin/Asian crowd (although there's a heavy slant towards Vietnamese customer base), there's rows and rows of culture specific prepackaged foods, from noodles, to teas to candies and all things in between. There's a couple of restaurants inside of City Farmer's market, including Lee's Bakery, complete with their buy 5 and get 1 free. Additionally there's a Big Wong BBQ near the entrance of the market, although I tried neither on my visit tonight. Parking here was pretty easy, and is a big shared lot in a strip anchored by the farmer's market, although it was a Saturday evening, and a place like this looks to be fairly crowded on a weekend afternoon. I think I prefer other markets along buford highway, but that doesn't mean City Farmer's market doesn't have a place. If I lived close, i'd likely be here a few days a week. When i'm this far down Buford Highway, i'll likely stop in, though. read more

This is my family and I's favorite place to shop for groceries! Here's why we love this place so much: 1. The produce is affordable and they offer such a great variety. I was honestly so surprised by how much selection they have and how fresh everything is at such a good price. My family loves all of their exotic fruits, like their pomelo grapefruit, dragonfruit, rambutan and jackfruit. 2. The staff is friendly over at the meat/seafood sections. They really do a great job at preparing your proteins for you. Never had a problem here and the price is so good for what you're getting. 3. They offer many Asian spices/goods that I've never seen in other stores before. Their selection for Vietnamese goods is incomparable. Not only do they offer hard-to-find ingredients but there's a lot of different brands and variety. Hands-down the best place for your Asian groceries needs. 4. And to top it off, the store is clean and organized as well. Even before the pandemic, I always saw people cleaning constantly. I was nervous to go grocery shopping but this store (and I think their other locations as well) has really made an effort to keep their customers safe. I heard they were the first to start screening for temperatures at a grocery store and people have been keeping up with their social distancing measures from what I've seen. Overall, a really good place to shop. Would highly recommend for affordable and fresh groceries! Also, just a little tip but you CANNOT miss out on their bánh mì (French baguettes) in the little bakery next to the door as you're leaving. Made in-store, light, airy, crispy. This is my favorite supermarket ever! They have everything you need. The produce section is just so beautifully clean and organized, you'll be tempted to purchase it all. The seafood counter always has a line, yet the wait is not long at all. All of their seafood looks great, but I especially love their Salmon Steaks-great cuts! From the prepared sushi, to the fresh seafood, and even frozen dumplings, you'll never run out of options. There's usually a man grilling chicken outside which smells absolutely amazing. There's a huge selection here. I mean food that you can't find at other markets. I've never seen so much meat in one store and everything is very fairly priced. The packaged goods all look great no expired stuff, again huge selection. I mean I saw Vietnamese and Indian food I've literally never seen in any other store, not Cherians or Patels or H mart or the other farmers markets in the metro ATL area. The only issue I saw were some dead fish in the live fish tanks and a box of very molded peaches next to all the other fruits. It raises some cleanliness questions, but there is a pandemic and I'm sure they are heavily understaffed right now. Hopefully I will get the chance to go back once everything settles down and can update on the status of the prevalence of fresh food gone bad. read more

Great addition to Buford Hwy. The Layout is similar to Hong Kong Supermarket. I want to say it's own by the same people. They recently opened so they're still stocking some of the shelves. They had a lot of specials for their grand opening. Inside the market is Lee's Sandwiches. A popular Vietnamese sandwich chain in the west coast.Try one of their concentrated coffee. It runs around $5 but you get at least 3 servings out of that one container. We usually buy these when we go to Hong Kong supermarket (the only place we've seen it). Like Addy mentioned, there's a Vietnamese fast food place next door similar to Viet Tofu and VN tofu. Dang, it's getting more and more competitve to open up a Farmers Market here in ATlanta these days. You're going up against giants in Pleasant Hill like Great Wall, H Mart, Assi, and Mega Mart that anything outside of that circle takes courage to start up and survive. Plus there's some new Asian market that opened up where 99 Ranch used to be, so there's already competition down the street. I'm going to guess the reason why this place survived is bc of demographics. This place is more of a Mercado that caters to the Hispanic and Latino population with Chinese veggies sprinkled in. Produce: Hate to be stereotypical, but anything Hispanic is gonna yield the BEST bananas, papayas, strawberries, and tropical fruits. That's right. Things like Mamey can be found here that can't be found in Korean/Chinese markets b/c aint no one else gonna know what an awesome fruit this thing is in milkshakes. Just saying. Prices are dirt cheap too! I bought this 3 lb box of strawberries today for 1.99$ and a bunch of dragon fruit from their "ugly fruits" section in the back. Variety: This place wins and I call it the Assi of Buford Highway b/c it truly is international with Jamaican, Asian, Carribean, and Hispanic sections of the market. So the effort is good! Meat and fish- fish wasn't that fresh but the Bonita looked good. Meats weren't bad but I'll wager a B grade compared to places like Kroger and Publix. As this business is fairly new, the inside was quite clean. Just like the farmer's market on the other end of Buford Hwy, expect a mixture of Asian and Hispanic products. The produce seemed fresh and had a pretty good sale. A friend couple said they love shopping here due to low prices. And oddly when we visited this one rainy afternoon, they were giving out free bread that hadn't sell. It wasn't super fresh, but it didn't have mold or anything crazy like that. As the rating suggests, I've experienced better. Specifically, just up the road at Buford Highway Farmers Market and at the nearby Super-H Mart. I can't imagine doing much shopping here with those two markets as convenient alternatives. Fairly large and clean grocery section but a lot of pre-bagged produce, which I really don't like. City Farmers Market you are the triple threat. You got cleanliness, lots of cashiers and neatly organized aisles....you are going places in this world....Even though it caters mainly to the Hispanic population in the area there are still plenty of meat on the bone for the others varities. I saw Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese and even Jamaican food on the shelves...you're like the United Nations of supermarkets. Plus you got friendly cashiers and lots of them I might add...and best of all...no funky weird smell...I appreciate that.... read more
