I stayed here for half of my week-long birthday trip in Turkey, and I could not have asked for a better base in Istanbul.
My boyfriend and I quite literally walked all over the city, except when we took the light rail. City Guest House was convenient for both, so easy that we even managed to get to it from Ataturk Airport on our own, without needing a cab or shuttle.
The building was small, but everything was clean and our room was quite large. Queen bed and an extra twin, and we had a view of the mosque and the Sea of Marmara. I loved that the key controlled all power in the room, so you're not wasting energy when you're not even there. Bathroom was kinda tiny. If you are carrying lots of luggage you may have a difficult time since the stairs are narrow and windy, and all the rooms are on different levels, but the staff is super helpful.
They were so nice that they helped us book a Bosphorus cruise. Then, when the van driver was late (seems that promptness is not that big in Turkey from what we observed), called the tour company to send us another van and made sure we got picked up even though we were totally okay with not doing the cruise anymore.
Turkish breakfast was great too. The lady in charge of the rooftop kitchen/dining area was super sweet even though we barely exchanged words. I totally got addicted to the bologne/sausage-like meat that they served.
For the price, it was the best deal we could've had. We were entirely satisfied with our stay. read more
