One recommended we drive into Teec Nos Pos to the Trading Post. Teec Nos Pos is everything you want it to be and more. A museum, a butcher, a convenience store, a drugstore, an art gallery, a library, a gas station. It's the most happening place for miles. You can still buy music on CASSETTE TAPES! You can buy Cactus Cooler in the can! Medicinal herbs in baggies prepared by a medicine man for all sorts of ailments. The real treat is, make sure you're not too muddy, and go in the artist room. You will see color ways, rugs, jewelry, all hand made by local artisans. We bought a gorgeous color way for a very fair price. We got to see the community coming in for gas and snacks. It was probably one of my favorite moments of our entire trip.

I usually get there around between 10-1 and things are popping. I did all of my Christmas shopping here, and I typically come here when I want to get handmade gifts for friends and family. The prices here are wayyyyy better than you'll find in any store or trading center. Despite that though, you can still find some very expensive quality items here if that's what you're looking for. They have everything from fair food, crafts, jerky, clothes, movies, music, ceremony items (cedar, sage, etc.) and there are even people who sell puppies sometimes! Even if you don't want to buy anything the flea market is totally the place to be in Shiprock on a Saturday.

They have quite a lot on the menu for such a small stand, and a lot of options for fry bread. We decided to go with the regular fry bread with cinnamon and sugar. The two ladies inside were friendly and got our order ready quickly. It was nice and fresh as they made it while we waited. It was extremely windy that day, so even though there were tables and seating available, we opted to just eat in the car and head back out on the road. In fact, it's the only spot in the area to grab food. They got a picnic table where you can sit and eat, which is nice if you want to take a quick break. I tried the traditional fried bread ($8). You can choose your own toppings, either sweet or savory. They have options like cinnamon sugar, honey, or garlic salt. I went with the garlic salt one, and while it was definitely on the salty side, it had a great garlicky flavor that I liked. They also sell snow cones in different flavors, and sodas are $3 and water is $2. They also really appreciate cash payments. Service was great. Food didn't take that long to come out.
