We stopped by here the other night to get dinner to go. We were greeted by the staff upon walking up to the order here sign and started with our order. We ordered a salad and a wrap. The ordering process was easy enough, but the next part was a little confusing. The clerk at the cash register mentioned that to wait and we'd be called when the order was ready. However, I was trying to figure out how I'd get my salad when I had the choice of salad bar items. My husband suggested I go up to the counter and show my ticket. The clerk from the cash register asked me if I wanted to get my salad and I said yes. She then asked me if I wanted romaine or spring mix. I opted for the spring mix and then commenced with my food options from the salad bar. Once I had finished with the salad, I then joined my husband in waiting for his wrap. There was a large party in front of us that we didn't realize we were waiting on for them to get their food first. I'd say in total we waited about 10 minutes. The restaurant was clean and the staff were busy with ensuring that everything was fresh for the salad bar as well as cleaning up and stocking items (straws, napkins, etc.). They definitely were of the mind of keeping busy and not standing around idle. Once order was in hand, we took it back to the hotel and ate there. My salad was very good and my husband's wrap was also very filling and tasty. I'll definitely be coming back to this place in the future. The food is good and high quality. Just wish we had something like this back in Whittier, I think it'd be very popular. read more

Me and my friend got 2 poke bowls, mine with salmon tuna and crab, hers with crab tuna and shrimp. The tuna was an almost gelatin texture and gritty, and the salmon had severe damaging and discoloration and was nearly brown. The tuna had a faint taste of rotten citrus, and the salmon was fishy. Crab was OK. The woman at the cash register was super nice but the woman who served my friend was extremely rude and kept rolling her eyes at her when she asked a question about a topping because they have literally no menu or labels for what you're getting. For a first time customer the layout and process to get your order is confusing. First you pay and get a receipt with a customer number on it. That part is fine because there's an "Order Here" sign in front of the cashier. Once you pay, the cashier indicates to you to step aside and wait - never actually telling you to form a line to go past the cashier area and wait your turn to get your salad. If you order a sandwich, you actually get your customer number called to pick up your order. After waiting for my number to be called with several called for customers that ordered after me, I asked the cashier when my number would be called. THEN she told me I should have stood in line after I paid since I was just getting a salad and that I should go ahead and get in line to get my salad. At that point I had already been waiting 20 mins. and I had no interest in waiting at the end of a long line. I asked for a reimbursement instead, which I did receive. After that poor customer service, I don't intend to ever go there again. read more

After eating one too many servings of steak while in Nogales, I welcomed the recommendation of one of my co-workers who'd tried City Salads. Apparently it's a Sonoran chain. It reminds me of Doc Green's if you've ever eaten at one of those. You can choose a salad of 3 sizes. The larger the size the more lettuce, meat, and toppings that you get. They've got a pretty good selection of flavors of chicken, shrimp, and tuna in addition to plenty of salad toppings. My main concern is that you have to tell the cashier how many extra toppings you want as you order, rather than just telling them what you want as you make it and then ringing it up at the end. It took me 5 minutes to decide how many extra toppings in addition to the 4 that you get with the medium salad that I would want. Not only that, but apparently some of the toppings, like red onion, don't count against your total. Somewhere I missed that explanation. The avocado cilantro dressing is really tasty. The server who was mixing my salad recommended it saying that it was the most popular one. I also tried the tortilla soup. The broth had ok flavor, though it was VERY salty, and there wasn't much else to the soup other than the tortilla strips, diced avocado, and diced cheese that you pour into it yourself. If you don't want salads, they've got sandwiches and burgers. One guy got the Miami sandwich which was HUGE, as in 6" x 10". He seemed to really enjoy it. They've got a selection of bottled drinks, fountain drinks, and agua frescas. I had the tamarindo, which was a little on the sweet side, rather than the tangy flavor that I was expecting. All in all it was a pleasant experience - friendly staff, clean place, good selection of food. I'll be back whenever I can't handle another piece of meat. read more

I really enjoy a good sandwich & soup combo or salad from City Salads. After all, this is probably the only restaurant in Nogales where you can grab a good salad and a healthy meal on the go. Aside from making my own personalized salad, I really like their sandwiches (even the half-sizes are huge). They also make a delicious tortilla soup. One thing I love about City Salads is the list of dressings they offer. There are well over a dozen but the avocado-cilantro is my fav and they are not stingy with the amounts. They put as much as you'd like. Another advantage is you can call and place your order ahead and they will have it ready when you arrive with your dressing served on the side to avoid a soggy romaine mess. I've heard some people mention that this place isn't healthy at all. It's as healthy as you choose to make it. You personalize your salad so if you throw pasta rotini in it and get all kinds of unhealthy toppings plus croutons or tortilla chips and a cup of dressing, well it's your fault that salad isn't healthy now, isn't it? Great little healthy spot to catch a good meal in Nogales if you're tired of Mexican food restaurants or just trying to stick to your diet & meet those macros. read more

Absolutely delicious sandwich! They are just a little over priced, tried to get a sandwich with a mini (the smallest) Cesar salad. The mini salad was as much as the sandwich and it was the smallest they offered! I couldn't imagine if I tried to get the small medium or large. Why it took me so long to go to this place I have no idea! They have the most delicious salads and soups I've had in a long time - and I'm including high end restaurants in my comparison. Their prices are very fair, their salads are huge, and their ingredients are fresh and delicious! It's like Subway but with a salad - they go down a line, with your lettuce in a large metal bowl, asking you what ingredients you want in it and simultaneously adding them in. You then choose the dressing you want (great RANCH!), as much or as little as you want, then they toss it all together and put it back in the original plastic lettuce container, so you can take it to go if you want. Did I mention the salads are huge? The medium sized salad lasted me 2 days! That, and the best caldo de queso I've had to date (my standards are high- I lived in Mexico so if it's not authentic, I'll pass!), cost me about $13 for the combo. IT IS SO WORTH THE PRICE! If I had the money, I'd invest in a franchise. It's got the feel of La Madeleine with the tossing of fresh ingredients (i so miss being near a La Madeleine -their Cesar salads are to die for) and the allure of Souper Salad (do they still have those?) without the temptation of eating the entire buffet! The ambience is casual, the staff are nice and go above and beyond, and it has a comfortable atmosphere (I think I avoided it for so long because from the outside, it looks a bit "fast food" and I detest eating inside at places like McDonald's). I wish they had a drive-through! (Chipotle FINALLY has some drive-throughs, and would have had a lot more business from me had they had them when I was living in Texas!) Big time fans of City Salads (we visit family quite often in Mexico and go to locations down there). We go out of our way to stop by this location every time we pass through Nogales. We usually get a small chicken salad (more than enough for two hungry people) with buffalo chicken, cucumbers, pasta, broccoli, onions, celery, tortilla chips and chipotle dressing. Deeeelicious. If that's too healthy for ya, they do make some great brownies and flan as well. Attentive customer service, wonderful food and portion sizes, and in-and-out quickly to drive on to our next adventure. 10/10 highly recommend! read more

Good salad. I think it might be a bit overpriced. I mean I ate a lot for what I got, but what I got wasn't what I wanted. I mean you get lettuce meat and and only 4 other toppings, you are done. Nothing else nada .. so you have to sacrifice the "Salad" for a bowl with lettuce Meat and a couple other things. Let me have my Spinach, Cheese, Pasta, Chick Peas, ham chunks, and my lettuce and meat, and maybe $10 would make me happier for a medium salad. read more

I'm not sure what happened to M R., but the service I received was phenomenal. I'm from Michigan and don't speak a lick of Spanish; nevertheless, the lady working there was more than happy to thoroughly explain the menu. I ordered the Panini Miami and the tortilla soup. I washed it down with their lemonade sweetened with Splenda. The tortilla soup was on the spicy side and after you add the tortilla strips and avocado cubes, it was quite good. The panini was also tasty. My meal (sandwich, soup, drink) totaled $11.94 after taxes. This place seems well-kept and clean. I came here around 5pm and the atmosphere was calm and enjoyable. Also, it looks like this place has wifi, but I was unable to connect. If they get that fixed, this might be a decent place to get some quick work done that requires a laptop, internet access and a power source. My favorite place to eat in Nogales. They have so many selections on their "salad bar". The process is simple: pick what size you want (I'm always hungry and have a hefty appetite and I order a medium... it's bigger than any casual dinning restaurant's entree salad) and whether you want chicken, shrimp or tuna, pay for your meal and move down the line to tell your "salad artist" which toppings you want. There are 5 or 6 flavors of chicken (I got Buffalo chicken today), at least 30 toppings (small gets 3, medium gets 4 and large gets 5 additional toppings plus celery and onion are always a "free" item), croutons or wontons and your choice of 20 different dressings. Caution: jalapeño ranch gets progressively hotter and it is delicious! They have sandwiches that look amazing too (someday I'll try them too). read more

I went here because someone said they had a good hamburger. This person was wrong and is now dead to me. This was the worst attempt at a hamburger I've seen two wafer thin patties cooked untill they resembled hockey pucks, with a bun that looked like a rat gnawed around the edges.
