I was looking for a reputable tanning salon for my first experience. The ladies at the desk were very welcoming and informative! They made sure my friend & I were comfortable and all our questions were answered. We completed a small survey then added our points, which your result tells you which tanning option is best for you. They gave us complimentary tank tops & bronzing lotion for our first visit. Beds were in great shape & rooms overall were spotless. The girls sanitized immediately after. Forcing a photo on a walk in customer when I wasn't planning on buying a package or anything is wild. If I can opt out of a photo at TSA at the airport why do I "have to" take a photo here? I made it clear I didn't want my photo taken and they refused to let me just pay for a single session because of it. For the sake of good consumer practices and some darn decency, I'll write a review based on the business rather than one unfortunate customer. I walked past this place when I spotted huge sign advertising Sunday specials. Being one to try things out at least once, I waltzed in with 100 burning (pun intended) questions. How does one tan? Do you lay? Do you stand? Am I the one keeping time? Is there a bell like a microwave? Will I go blind if I open my eyes? Can I get locked in? Will I be radioactive if I stay in too long? (All valid questions for a tanning noob.) Luckily, the customer service was great. The young ladies behind the desk were very knowledgable on the equipment, procautions and practices. Score one star for the youths! Next, they gave me a tour of the beds. They all looked clean, had all working bulbs, and the room was stocked with fresh towels and disposable eye protectors. Score one star for maintainence and one for cleaniness! Now here is something weird to note. Ever walk into Cups in Clifton? or Muscle Maker on Franklin Ave.? HOLY HELL is it loud in there. I'm all for blaring music, but if the point is to lay comfortable for a few minutes, I can't imagine doing that with hardcore EDM (or whatever the kids are listening to) bombarding my ears. The music is at a low to moderate , audible volume. One star for ambiance! Lastly, the prices! I'm one broke mofo (note the walking part of the review. too broke to drive) so it's nice to know I can treat myself to a little vitamin d and artificial sun for a discounted price on a Sunday. (Half price any bed at the time this review was written.) Score one star for deals! Overall, this is a great spot right in Nutley. Nice, non-pretenious and welcoming to those new to the dark (or slightly tanned) side. read more

Been a member for many years now and never had any issues. They really go above and beyond to keep everything clean and sanitized. But lately the Wayne location staff was just not cutting it for me..so when my package expired I decided to give this place a shot. They only have super beds which is great. Yesterday was my first time using the tanning facility at City Tropics! I was super excited as I had only been before for facials from Renee which are always amazing! But this time I was going for a spray tan, that Laurie recommended. I'm naturally tan and always worried that i May look orange. I did the dark option for spray tan and I am definitely not orange!! I'm so happy!! It came out beautiful and just added a bronzed look to my already tan skin. The girls at the desk were super helpful and even gave me a tank top which was a nice touch!! Clean beds, really friendly girls behind the counter, and--free first tan, free lotion packet (first time), free Winkies, free eye goggles if you want them. Epic fail went to spray tan and got there at 742 they close at 8 door were locked, people inside but didn't bother to help me. Bring your business elsewhere. A business should be open from the hours posted and not close when ever they feel like it. I even tried calling and it went to a Verizon voicemail that doesn't state the business name or anything, really a shame. Was hoping to get a bunch of gift cards and a tan package. I was looking for a new salon when I stumbled on this one via Instagram and I'm so glad I did. They have awesome promotions like 2 for the price of 1 deals on Sunday and Tuesday. It's super clean and the employees are friendly. It does get a little busy but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for a machine. i went to their website first, http://www.citytropicsta... and checked out not only all of the beds but also their prices . this is the only salon that i had ever seen do this with the prices and all prices were tax already included . i then called and the owner answered and stayed on the phone with me for 25 minutes answering every question that i had he was so helpful and nice . he then told me to come in any try any bed free with free a free lotion . i thought there was a catch but there was not i told him my legs never get tan and he gave me a leg lotion to try and said i would come out looking like beyonce, lol he was right my legs got so dark , first time ever , i could not believe it . i then tried to purchase a month unlimited tanning and he said to go home and think about it first to make sure i liked everything . i could not believe that he did not just take the money , instead wanted me to be sure i liked it first !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow !!!!! well i came back the next day and bought a month unlimited and will never go to another tanning salon. there were no eft plans ,commitments or contracts which was great , because every time i do that with a salon or gym they keep billing me and it is so hard to cancel . this is the best and cleanest tanning salon i have ever been too and will never leave , the staff is so nice and the music is great . this place is awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
