What's not to love about this liquor store? Excellent selection of wines including unique Turkish and the more ubiquitous Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Their prices are very reasonable - almost ware house club level. Specifically, I've seen wines at South Shore liquor stores prices $3-$5 more that at City Wine. They also have Kosher wines if you have religious dietary requirements or need to bring a bottle to someone's house. They don't just sell wines, don't let the name fool you. They have hard liquors and champagne. They sell cold wines and champagnes if you're in a hurry. Check in and get a free old-fashioned wine opener. read more

I hate to leave this review but it is ridiculous what the store owner/manager did to my fiancé and I. I was looking for a certain brand of tequila for my wedding called the establishment and they stated they had six bottles. However, I was only allowed to purchase one bottle per customer because the supplier of the tequila only allowed one bottle per transaction. While I was on the phone with the manager or the owner, they told me I would be able to figure out how to purchase the three bottles I needed. My fiancé showed up and purchased the first bottle, brought it out to her vehicle walked in a second time and the manager/owner told her he could not sell her another bottle because she just purchased one. My brother-in-law then went to the store to purchase a bottle and he was told they could not sell it to him because he was from the same family as my fiancé, although they do not have the same name, nor was gentleman checking for ID. He said he saw my brother-in-law, talking to my fiancé therefore he could not sell him a bottle. In the end, my wife had to drive to Brooklyn to purchase the three bottles where that store manager told her there was no such policy set by the supplier. She could have purchased as many bottles as she wanted to. if I was able to leave negative stars, I would as the owner/manager of this business appears to have an issue with wanting to make money and allowing customers to purchase more than one bottle of particular type of alcohol. Unfortunately, I will never purchase anything from this establishment ever again. Buyer beware on the information provided by this business. read more

I have never had the pleasure of visiting the actual store for City Wine Cellar, but I've ordered products online. The website is super easy to operate and the selection is very organized. In addition to the different wines and spirits they also sell accessories and gift sets. The online pricing is similar to what you would find in a store, the only difference is that you have to pay for shipping. Shipping one bottle to DE ran me about $20, with one day delivery.I actually found City Wine Cellar to be the best priced on a variety of spirits compared to other online vendors. I did run into an issue, but as soon as I brought it to the attention of the customer service at City Wine Cellar they corrected it. City Wine Cellar was easy to work with and is perfect for ordering wine and spirits online. read more

Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful staff that is taking zero precautions to keep themselves or their customers safe during this coronavirus pandemic. Was told multiple times that if I placed an online order I could do curbside pickup without having to have any contact with anyone and that an employee would just place the box in my trunk. When I called from my car in front of the store, I was suddenly informed I had to either come inside to sign or someone would come to my car to take my ID and also have me sign some paperwork. After being yelled at over the phone for nearly ten minutes, an employee walks out to my car window with no mask or gloves on and wants me to open my window and sign for the wine. I drove away and called back to have my order cancelled and the lady once again was nasty, told me the order was cancelled and then hung up the phone on me. I called back and left my contact information with someone else for the owner to call me back and still haven't heard back after a few days. Even if picking up an order without signing is not possible, they told me it was and should have at least apologized for the inconvenience instead of yelling at me. What is the point of curbside pickup during this pandemic if you need to come inside or open your car window to an employee who doesn't even have on a mask or gloves and then touch his pen and papers? Absolutely pointless! After shopping here for years and spending thousands of dollars they feel it is okay to yell at me even though they misinformed me. Disgusted by the whole situation. I placed an out-of-state order for a couple of Korean beverages I was unable to find anywhere else. Unfortunately, they were out of two of the items but were prompt to call me and inform me of alternatives. Processing was fast and delivery only took 2 days through FedEx. Since it's alcohol, you will have to be at home with an ID to sign for it, but I was able to pick it up at a local Walgreens due to work which was perfect! All the beverages ordered were well packaged and in mint condition. They were also super delicious for a great price! I hope to buy from here again and that the service is just as excellent as the first. read more

The check in offer isn't real, you don't get anything. They have a large selection of wine, beer and spirits. There are many isles to find the right drink of your choice. The staff is helpful in answering any questions you may have or making recommendations. The prices are very reasonable and probably the cheapest on the island. Deceptive dealing online. Website said "one bottle left"so I called specifically to be sure that bottle (it was a special design of a readily available beverage in another design) was the one I was paying for. Paid in full for pick up. Unable to pick up in a timely manner, so paid for shipping. Delivered bottle was NOT what I ordered, called to inquire, was told I'd have to pay shipping and a restock fee unless I spoke to the manager. Manager has been very elusive for an entire week, no matter what time I call, even left a call-back number. No response. What a rip! Paid $30 more for a special bottle that I didn't get. read more

This place has all the wines that you can think of from ceiling to floor. It also has hard liquor and champagne. The staff is nice and seem to know what they are talking about. We were looking for some great wine for Thanksgiving that wasn't to expensive. We def found what we were looking for plus a fun wine too. It was a coconut moscato for dessert. I wanted some cheap flavored brandy for sangria but all they had was old man expensive non flavors. Horrible Horrible company! Do not buy from them! Sent me an opened bottle of Scotch and refused to refund me. Bottle was sent back to them and they still refused to refund. Very rude an unprofessional. Stay away. I did contact the company and they refused to refund me the money assuring that they inspected the bottle before shipping. The bottle has clearly been tampered with to pass it off as an unopened bottle. The company was not willing at all to help me out, and basically accused me of opening the bottle. Had a great white blend at a restaurant in Freehold, NJ last year. City Wine is the ONLY store in the entire NY area which stocks it. They also carry my husband's favorite CA pinot noir which is served at just two local restaurants. I tried to give this place a chance, and order 2 fifths of Proper 12 which City Wine Cellar said they had in stock, only to receive an email 2 days later that said "Credit Memo" I checked my order and it said canceled. So I called them and they told me they canceled my order, because they are not making Proper 12 anymore, I laughed because that is not true. The guy from City Wine tried to tell me they did not charge me, only to call the bank and find out they really did, so I had to dispute the charges. I took my business elsewhere.
