They cost $300 a visit! I used to pay $50 a visit which is what my insurance covers. Everyone needs to be aware of this major price increase

In general, the doctors I've seen before were professional, kind, and genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, my visit on December 14, 2025 was very different. I was seen by a female provider whose name I was unable to get -- the front desk did not provide it, and she did not introduce herself. From the beginning, her attitude felt cold and dismissive. I clearly explained my situation and asked if it would be possible to prescribe medication in a slightly larger quantity, as I come to CityMD regularly and currently do not have insurance. I paid out of pocket for this visit. Instead of calmly explaining medical or policy limitations, the provider responded with visible irritation and a negative attitude, which made an already stressful situation worse. She could see that I was anxious and in a rush, yet the interaction felt unnecessarily tense. At the end of the visit, I was told that two medications would be prescribed. However, when I went to the pharmacy, I received only one tablet of one medication, and the antibiotic that was promised was not prescribed at all. This was extremely frustrating and confusing, especially since the clinic was already closing and I could not clarify the issue the same day. What upset me the most was not even the prescription mistake itself, but the lack of professionalism and empathy. In all my previous visits to CityMD, providers were respectful, patient, and supportive. This experience felt like an exception, and unfortunately a very unpleasant one. I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously, because CityMD has always been a place I trusted -- and I would hate to see that trust affected by interactions like this.

The MD provider was compassionate and competent as was the medical assistant. They did a culture for step, diagnosed my daughter, and sent RX to CVS down the street. I will note that I am a black woman, and I am also a medical professional who has worked in the urgent care setting as a provider. My first experience was fine. I walked in after a virtual consultation, checked in by a nice lady, and was tested. The PA, Theresa, came in and stood at the door to bark at me if I had any questions and I had none. Received my results rapidly. A mediocre experience. My second experience was great. I walked in after a virtual consultation and was tested. The MA I had, who I regret not remembering her name gave me the best COVID tests I've ever had. She counted down and made the experience almost enjoyable, and provided tissues before and after the test for my comfort. I received my results rapidly and was pleased with my experience. My third experience, which happened this past weekend was atrocious. I had a virtual visit with a PA who was over an hour late to the appointment -- I called the actual site and they told me to leave the appointment site and they would have someone reach out to me in 30 minutes. The PA then called me and went through the questions and she requested I be seen in person and that I can do that at the clinic when I arrived for my test, fine. I walked in during my scheduled appointment time and was greeted by another patient sitting in the lobby who asked me for my information. I was perplexed and turned to the actual front desk reception who said nothing but took down my information. Fine. I sat and waited to be called. As I waited, another receptionist came in and yelled "Ma'am" multiple times into the waiting room until I looked up from my seat, startled, and decided to check me in. I explained that I had already been checked in and she left me alone. I was soon called to the back. I was seated and given no instructions in the chair -- which is fine because I had been here before. Soon, the same PA from my initial visit, Theresa, came in and yelled at me from the door, demanding to know if I was a virtual visit. I explained that the provider from my virtual consultation had asked that I be seen for my symptoms. She continued to yell at me from the door saying that doesn't happen here and then eventually left without saying anything. I was stunned as I sat there. A little bit later, Todd, the MA, came in and started asking me questions. He asked me what I do for work and I explained that I was in the medical profession. After he was done taking my vitals, he said he would be collecting my specimen for COVID 19. I was shocked as I there was no explanation or confirmation from Theresa, and asked if she was coming back first. He said she would but he needed to collect the specimen first. Fine. He collected the specimen with no introduction or preparation for the patient. He did it twice in the same nostril and did not stay in for 10 seconds. At the end, he left. As he was leaving, my nose started to bleed very profusely from the attack and as I had no tissues or anything to stop the bleeding. As such, I bled over my shirt and eventually found gauze in the room. At this point, another PA, entered the room, asked if I was the "NP" very condescendingly and saw that I was distraught and bleeding. He provided me with more gauze and made excuses for Todd saying that they never provided tissues for patients, which was a bold faced lie because, as I mentioned, I had been here previously and was provided said tissues. At this point, I was so fed up with my experience that I asked to leave and my results be uploaded to the portal. I was crying and very upset. I have never been treated this way before at a health care institution and I know for a fact that others have been as well, just looking at these reviews and my partner's experience. Needless to say, I will never come back here as this was an abusive and terrifying experience.

He was possibly the worst physician I have ever seen in my life and honestly should be fired. I was telling him that I felt faint and requested that my chair be put in a laying position so I didn't fall if I passed out. The nurse was about to do it and he stopped her and said he wanted to do his exam FIRST. I had incredibly bad mouth and throat pain with an enlarged tongue. He took a look in my mouth for quite literally one second. And then refused to give me any recommendations on what to do to alleviate the pain and instead almost yelled at me for not going to an allergist or the ER. He essentially said that he refused to give me any sort of treatment because I should have gone to the ER. THEN to put my chair back he moved me to another room. I told him I felt really weak and requested I keep my stuff in the room because I had a heavy backpack with me. He refused to let me keep my stuff in the room and forced me to carry my stuff. When I requested that he look at my throat again because I was in pain and can feel that there was something wrong, he said "I've looked at your throat already. I will not look at it again". He spent not even 5 minutes talking to me and seemed angry that was passing out.

I do not have insurance and I was told the uninsured fee was $220 that was to be paid prior to the exam, which I did. The exam lasted about 10 minutes. During which Dr Chen told me everything looked fine and the nurse would be coming to do a Covid, Flu and Urine test for pregnancy. Mind you he never communicated these tests were not part of the exam, if there would be an additional cost, what that cost would be or if I even wanted them. Because of this I was under the impression this was part of the exam which I already paid for, they all came back negative right away. A few weeks later a got a bill from Quest Diagnostics stating that I owed over $1,700.00 for these 3 tests. If I believed I had Covid, Flu, or was pregnant ( which I didn't) I would have gone to CVS or Amazon and purchased one of these tests for $20.00. I immediately consulted my mother who is a lawyer and she let me know this constitutes as fraudulent practice, I am not responsible for paying this since the Dr did not disclose that these tests were an additional fee or if I even wanted them. Most people have insurance so these unnecessary tests can be taken and charged to the insurance company (insurance fraud) but in this case it was charged to me the patient without any disclosure of the fees. I currently have escalated claims going through both Quest and City MD but if those fall through I will be having a lawyer contact the Attorney General. Also I when I went back to the location and reported this to the receptionist her face dropped and she was apologizing and said there was no documentation/ outstanding bills on her end in the system she could even see regarding these tests. Something sketchy is going on at these location.
