Still under 60 days freshly moved to NYC. Sliced my finger while cooking dinner. Walked to my nearest urgent care, CityMD. They looked pretty busy and upon arriving I was greeted by Yasmin, a very astute patients service representative. Warned me the wait was about an hour and a half. She ensured I was properly taken care of and checked in. I was taken back for triage before I could even finish my slice of pizza. In popped the bubbly and sweet PA, Christina Belipsky. She was such a breath of fresh air from what I'm use to in medical professionals, let alone at urgent cares. She welcomed me to the city, and made me feel safe. The same feelings you would want your children to experience from their pediatrician is what I got from here. I mean the level of care on a mental, emotional, physical, and medical service level made my night that had turned for the worst a whole lot better! read more

Extreme delay to see an actual medical professional when there was only one other patient in the facility at the time. The place was empty and staff were in various rooms just chitchatting. PA insisted on an incorrect diagnosis, even though we knew he was wrong, but we followed his advice. Failed to prescribe the correct and requested medication, giving us something else that has been ineffective. We called the "supervisor" of the location, and he refused to give us his full name. Wish we would've seen these reviews before going to this location. We will not be returning. read more

I made an appointment online and completed all my paperwork in advance. When I arrived, I was processed immediately and was seen on time. I thought the technician was efficient, smart and kind. The doctor was equally good. She listened, ordered key tests, looked me over and gave me solid advice. In particular, she strongly encouraged me to note when my symptoms started and follow up with my personal doctor if they lasted beyond the normal range of a cold/flu. By the time I got home, I had all my reports. My experience exceeded my expectations. I would absolutely go back. read more

When I get a call two days later about the results of my test I was confused with another patient. Several more calls and the bizarre information I received was even more Kafka-esque. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I made a yelp account to post this which is how bad my experience was. I'd give it a zero if I could. Absolutely terrible. No one knows what they are doing. I went in for an allergic reaction and was first charged a co pay (my insurance has a $0 urgent care co pay). Waited 30 minutes to be seen by a PA who barely looked at me. He prescribed a steroid to take for 5 days, which is standard after an allergic reaction. The PA wasn't writing anything down, and asked which pharmacy I wanted the prednisone sent to. He never wrote it down, so the day after when I hadn't heard from my pharmacy I got concerned. Apparently, he never included the prescription in his notes, so it was never sent. Do yourself a favor and never go to this urgent care. Your physical health and mental wellbeing will thank you for staying far away read more

I was seen quickly and was able to book an appointment and check in online, which was convenient. My insurance covered the visit with a $50 copay. HOWEVER when I showed the "dr" my recent bloodwork results he told me to go right to ER as I might have SEPSIS. I had zero symptoms of infection (no fever, digestion fine, no pain or clammy skin). He never even asked about these symptoms. I only felt lightheaded, which I described to him. He performed no tests. I asked him if it could wait until Monday, since I didn't feel that badly and and he said no absolutely not. So there is nothing you can do to help me? I asked. NO. Worried, since I myself did not know what an elevated anion gap meant, I went to the ER. At the ER they weren't the least bit concerned about the elevated anion gap or sepsis. Said sepsis was not on the radar at all, before doing any tests. Said the anion gap level was not really concerning. Ended up taking 9 hours and costing a ton of $$ for no reason, due to ridiculous advice I got. read more

I've had nothing but good experience here. I was there in December and they diagnosed my flu despite a rapid test being negative . Went back today for a concussion. The wait time was minimal despite being understaffed. The front desk was helpful and check in easy from my phone. The doctor I saw Dr. Miller was amazing and sent me for some follow up scans and then called me personally to follow up later in the day. I would definitely recommend ...it doesn't replace an ER but it's a good first stop. And they take many insurances . read more

I've had a fever for two days, an upset stomach, and some other issues that I felt I should maybe have checked out. Their website says they close at 9, but figured I should call anyway, as I was on the bus on the way to them at 5:10 PM on a Sunday. Their site says if you get there by 6PM you will be seen. I called from the bus at 5:12PM and was told I WOULDN'T BE SEEN. Perhaps they should change the word URGENT to WE DON'T. read more

3 hour line for 10 minutes of sign-in and nasal swabbing. I picked Instant test so results were emailed in 30 minutes. Negative yay! Once you are admitted to lobby have your license out for checking in at the white kiosks. If anything has changed you will be called to the window for further review. Have a seat until nurse calls you to room. Asks a few easy questions, height and weight don't lie! Pick test style and get tested. read more

I am writing as a physician and as a spouse of a patient who visited this City MD. I am repulsed in both capacities. My wife had 2 visits; on the first visit, she sought evaluation for abdominal pain. Routine blood work was performed. A non-clinical receptionist called her one day after to share the results; she was not able to share any context, the care team provided no further recommendations. She had moderate levels of hypercalcemia and hyperkalemia. She was recommended to see a PCP; she has none. We decided to go back in for a repeat lab draw. The PA who saw her on the 2nd visit said the results would come back in 3-5 days; we asked for them to be resulted sooner. She acquiesced (reluctantly). We asked for an EKG as hyperkalemia can be associated with dysrhythmias. Shockingly, her response was that an EKG is a routine test that isn't performed in urgent care; it should be performed by the PCP (again there is none). An EKG is usually performed urgently or emergently. Repeat blood work showed her hypercalcemia was worse. We made an appointment with a nephrologist (she also has a history of childhood renal problems). City MD refused to provide the referral, made her come back to request the referral in person (and then said no). We will never use city MD again. It is actually more sad than infuriating that our healthcare system is so broken; city MD is emblematic of the fractured system and just how healthcare workers lack the sense and skills to treat people. Shame on city MD. Go across the street to any other urgent care; the salon or corner bodega might even come up with a better treatment plan. read more

City MD states they have radiology capability at all locations. After seeing the doctor an xray was advised as I knew it would be. The doctor then asked if I could return at 3 pm when the technician would be in. My initial appointment was at 11:30 am. After making the second trip back I was informed that xrays were not being done at this location that day and I would have to travel to another one. Completely unprofessional and to think I had to make a $100 copay for absolutely no answers. read more

CityMD...all the rumors are true. Over the past year, I have had the displeasure of coming to this facility solely for COVID testing over 15 times. I neglected to write anything because of the climate/culture of COVID. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. If they didn't have a monopoly on the Upper West Side I would go somewhere else. When COVID was rampant, you can wait HOURS waiting to get a simple 30 second test. One wonders why it takes over 50minutes to see each patient. In fact, I once woke up at 5am to be first in-line and waited until opening at 8am. After being the FIRST person admitted in, I was told 'the doctor is seeing other patients'...what a complete joke and lie as I was the first person called. This evening, I walked into the clinic and as usual, I used the iPad to login/check-in. Oddly enough, I was prompted to type in ALL information as if I was a first time patient. I went to the receptionist and her snarky response was 'it's a new system'. With all due respect, if a company is 'upgrading' how can they be so ignorant to not retain information-after all, they previously and currently take pictures of ones license. What an absolute joke. I implore anyone and everyone to avoid CityMD. My patience has reached its limit and I will NEVER come back to another CITYMD read more

It's bad business practice to list the closing time as 9 but actually close earlier. I arrived at 7:15 only to be told they were already closed for the evening. I didn't call ahead as I know CityMD as a walk-in urgent care for illness and injury. I now see that I'm not the only one that this has affected. Integrity is important. Stopped by Sunday ~2:00 PM for a Covid test as there was no line outside. Walked in registered for there texting system. When it was my time 5 hours later, I received text to return within 3o minutes . Checked back in, waited 10 minutes, tested and out the door. All of the staff I interacted with were Professional, Courteous and Friendly. Excellent experience! read more

I cut myself very badly cooking and sprinted to this CityMD with a towel on my hand. They got me in a room and seen by the PA immediately. My PA Andrew was very nice, super efficient, and kept me in great spirits while dealing with a very gross cut and a very freaked out patient (me). He also clearly explained how to care for it. I didn't catch the name of the lady at the front desk but she was super helpful too (working 9 pm Tuesday Aug 29!). Thank you to both of them!! read more

I live across the street and many days the lights are dim and everything looks shut down, way before 8pm. The website says open until midnight and I can see them having a cut off time , but I have walked by as early as 6 , light off and staff looking like they are on the way out which what caught my attention more so than them being open! read more

OMG What a shit show! I was at 88th & Broadway on Thursday 6/3/21, the visit was fine. Everything thing else has been awful. I received a message from some saying to call back, so I tried to no avail. I called twice; I was on hold for 25+ minutes each time until I hung up. I tried the call back option that did not work at all on Sunday. Monday was a similar disaster, though I was able to put in for a call back, twice nobody called back. I got through to someone in Aftercare, she transferred me to Clinical - I WAS ON HOLD FOR 1 HOUR AND 25 MINUTES!!!! DOES ANYONE F****** WORK THERE??!! PS - I sent them this review before posting it to Yelp, I received an email stating that they were investigating - I never heard from them again. Urgent care, I don't think so. read more

Front office works well. Doctor quality varies immensely and is mostly low/average. Out of last 10 visits, only 4 doctors were really good, a couple were incompetent and the rest were average - sufficient for run of the mill things like strep, flu, small cuts, sprains, minor burns etc. They have xray which is a plus for getting an immediate diagnosis in certain cases. They can test for simple things on site and have off site lab service for more complex things. Their new website/app interface is beyond terrible! It used to be more consumer friendly and now, under Athena Health, it is a disaster. I get a message saying doctor posted a note, yet I cannot find it on the system. I get a note saying I have lab results, yet it only tells me what test was done and not the result! I click on the link that says contact if you have questions about the lab result, and I get a form that is unusable because it doesn't list the providers. Have any of you dudes in the so called IT department tried to use these functions? What kind of service are you providing in this day & age? In summary, they are good for simple things for which you don't want to go to the emergency room for, or as a first step care on weekends when you cannot reach your primary provider. If your ailment is not simple, they can be unreliable, so follow up with your own doctor or go to the emergency room. read more

As someone who doesn't get sick to often, when i get SICK. I got a sore throat last night and looked up urgent care as i am one of the millions without health insurance. I found cityMD on google and picked one. Went to the website and registered on line. Then at 8am this morning dragged myself to the place. It was very efficient and friendly. The preregistration meant i just signed 3 things and that was it. Gave my name, showed my if and sat in a very comfortable living room. They called my name, less then 4 min later. A young man who was very friendly took me to room, asked me questions and then took my temp, blood etc. Doctor came in, checked me out and Bam- done! Yea it costs out of pocket but for the speed and price - not bad at all! read more

Why three stars and not fewer ? Well, it was the day after Thanksgiving, so what choice did I have ? I had been sick for a couple of days and was not getting better, so being able to see someone has to count for something and the PA (she did not say what she was, only that she was not an MD), could not have been more thorough....but, this was after I had waited an hour and a half to see her, and after that another forty minutes to see an MD for two minutes -- not one second longer. He did not introduce himself -- what if I had had a question and wanted to call ? Had I not asked him his name, I would have had no idea who treated me. This is totally unprofessional. But the lack of professionalism does not end here. On my way out, I accidentally passed the break room where a group of young doctors, including mine, were sitting around despite its being Friday night at 7 with a waiting room so packed with patients some had to stand, all potentially infecting one another. I spotted my MD and asked, "You did not give me my diagnosis, is it bronchitis ?" He was clearly annoyed but came out to whisper at me -- did he think the others would notice he had not quite finished his job ? -- "No, probably pharyngitis." (The symptoms I had do indeed match that choice.) Had I called my excellent internist's terrible office -- he is part of the worst group, they get 0 stars -- I'd have had a 2 week wait if I were lucky, by which time this easily treatable condition could have become pneumonia, so CityMY was my only choice...perhaps other locations are better managed ? I noticed the salary scale on their job postings and it is, let us say, not impressive. read more

I wouldnt go here for blood work, I can be a hard stick but havent had anyone stick me more than twice in years. I also pointed them to exactly where my vein is that people can always get on the first or second try. The first person who tried went in three times poking all over and coming all the way out (which you should never do) and then back in (so more like 8 sticks). Then I sat in the room for 10 minutes while I waited on the MA, who went in both arms with lots of sticking. With Covid especially you would think they know how to draw blood. I can also confirm for Covid testing theyre saying it could take over 2 weeks -- they should let people know this who are waiting in line... may as well skip and find someone who uses a different lab (friends have gotten theres back in a day or two this week). This company has since billed my insurance hundreds of dollars--for providing NO service, only bad medical advice. Seems fraudulent to me. I've notified my insurance company, filed a complaint, and tried to leave feedback through CityMD's site, but guess what? It doesn't work. I went to this location after work around 5:30ish because I had really bad abdominal pain all day. I saw a Doctor within 10 minutes. Most of these facilities do not have in-depth testing to properly diagnose anyone. With that in mind the doctor recommended that I go to the hospital and asked me if he wanted call an ambulance for me. I declined went home got in a cab and went to the hospital had a not done that things would've gotten a lot worse recommending me to go to a hospital save my life because at the hospital they found another more life-threatening issue. Hospitals have EKG machines ultrasounds and CAT scans urgent cares do not keep this in mind. They do the best they can with what they have. read more

If you're looking for a covid test, CityMD says just walk in. I do that and am told there is a 4 hour wait. Later, I call again requesting information about how to get on their "virtual" line. Calls go unanswered and recorded message left for a return call with information are ignored. I will not attempt to use them again. Customer service is non existent. read more

Went in for a covid test at 10am yesterday. Got on the "virtual queue". Was finally tested at 9pm told I'd have my results within a half an hour. I've been on hold 15 minutes this morning already waiting to get the results from last nights rapid test. They need to do better when it comes to a public health crisis. read more

Absolutely appalling. Nowhere in the city takes so long to get covid testing. People lined up down the block, and in order to bill for a doctor visit (highest level of billing), they make you wait for the ONE doctor on site who is seeing hundreds of other people. I waited 2 1/2 hours for covid testing. Should have been 5 minutes, then wait 15 for the rapid test. Any place that profiteers off a pandemic should be shut down. read more

Nice people at this location but after being in pain and told after care will call me and also help me schedule an appt ASAP for a neurologist ..... nothing... I have called back several times past few days and no one can help and keeps transferring me to another number and those people say they will call me back but don't . If they needed a doctor what would they do? . It's ridiculous and I guess only option is emergency room ( for arm pain ‍) as can't find a doctor now and city md service has been useless. read more

Ridiculous. If you want good care go elsewhere. My sister went here with whole body hives, significant facial swelling and tongue swelling after having shellfish. Turns out she had anaphylaxis. I had urged her to go to the ED, but unfortunately she showed up at this establishment. At first they couldn't find their epinephrine. Then they decided they'd monitor her for an hour and send her home when they closed. That is not the standard of care. They should have started treatment and called an ambulance for ED transport to ensure adequate monitoring. Instead the nurse practitioner taking care of her told her they would not be calling her an ambulance and after the hour of monitoring she could walk to the ED if she wanted to. My sister was then discharged with her face still swollen, and took a cab to an ED where a competent physician took over care, told her she had made the right choice, gave further meds, and referred her to an allergist to boot. I'm appalled at the negligence this visit showed. She could have gone home and died. I'd like to give zero stars. Up your quality and competency! read more

I wish this could be my General Practitioner. Right across the street. I practically roll out of bed into the office. Super nice staff and doctors. I regrettably got them involved in my Workman's Comp case, but they handled all the annoying and repeated requests for paperwork extremely well. And you can get X-rays right on the premises. Need a referral? No problem. They've got a binder full of cards just for such occasions. They even called and set up the appointment with the physical therapist for me. No co-pay... Unfortunately, this morning at Broadway & 88th NYC, my 9yr old and I were greeted by an extremely rude/unstable receptionist who--when asked if we could sit in the waiting area at 7.57am as the doors were open--she huffed, puffed and rolled her eyes very dismissively. When asked why she is responding so rudely to a simple question, the receptionist proceeded to raise her voice and started an unimaginable confrontation. The office/facility manager stepped in and handled the situation exemplarily well. The medical staff was also professional and kind. However, it also behooves me to bring to bring to your attention that the resident/MDs assistant mentioned that others have had issues with this receptionist as "she has lost her composure in the last". If this is the case, she should not be in a patient facing position any longer. Case in point: she lost her composure again after the manager had spoken to her! She tried to engage in a silly "stare me down" dynamic. When I mentioned I would be contacting corporate to escalate my concerns, she chased my son and I down the hall and with a threatening tone and stance tried to engage with us again. An employee who displays this kind of behavior and instability should not be in a patient facing environment unless significant training can address her anger management issues and, most worrisome, unstable mood condition. However, given the significant data points, any customer/patient facing role is likely NOT the right fit as it puts patients and CityMD as an organization at risk. As I mentioned to her manager when I asked to speak with him in private before leaving, another patient struggling with a life threatening condition might have chosen to walk away from CityMD this am due to the receptionist's inhospitable, rude and even belligerent behavior. My 9yr came to CityMD for a sports sprain and is leaving shocked on his way to school from what's meant to be a safe healthcare environment. Based on the unbelievably stressful situation she created for a 9yr old and his parent this morning, the receptionist is NOT fit for a patient-facing position in healthcare. I hope that CityMD, which seems like a fine organization redefining best-in-class urgent care, takes immediate measures in managing this astonishingly unstable employee. read more
