CITY TOUR STOP #4…read more It's almost like a farmer's market on a different level. The entire area is a delight to all senses. There are plenty of shops to choose from should you have house or souvenir needs. The beautiful ENSANADA sign is situated at the very end. And then there's that majestic flag that weighs over 300lbs - 2nd biggest in the world, according to our tour guide, Alfredo. It was a quick run (given we were a part of a tour group) but interesting, nonetheless. It's one of those places you keep in mind to visit again and walk through at your own pace. There will be a next time.

You can see old jail cells, guard towers, courtyard in front center, etc. Not much happens around here, but you can read some English and Spanish texts along the way. Didn't see public restrooms here. There's a staff onsite if you have any questions. Again, it's a much smaller museum than most other museums. Free admission. Follow the blue footprints on the ground and it will guide you to the end. Most people can finish the small tour and read everything within 10-15 minutes to get a better understanding of this landmark. It's still a nice and short addition to visiting Ensenada before leaving.

Today I felt like getting off. Exiting through the checkpoint was a breeze. Coming back through about at hour later was a breeze through security scanners and back on the ship. Staff at the checkpoint were friendly.

At first we decided…read moreto stay on the ship but saw an excursion that peaked our interest while viewing Carnival Excursions. The "Taste of Mexico & Margarita Madness" Excursion is what we found. This was a good decision as the excursion was engaging, educational and very fun. The excursion included a nice bus ride to three locations. Our first stop was a culinary class where we made Guacamole, Salsa, Chicken Enchiladas with Tomatillo Sauce & Machaca Tostadas. To top it off we had Unlimited Margaritas! There were also vendors there for retail therapy. My husband and I received a beautiful painting that was completed while we were eating since we were the coupled married the longest. Our second stop was a Tequila Tasting where we learned about the history of tequila and how it is made. This also included the tasting of six different tequilas. The third & final stop was to downtown Ensenada where we were able to visit shops and restaurants. We are so glad we changed our minds. This tour is highly recommended. If you ever are on a Carnival Cruise to Ensenada definitely check out this excursion.

The architecture stands out, quietly waiting to be noticed and appreciated. The Stephens Terry house made my head turn as I was biking by, had to stop and take a look at this historical landmark that's up for sale. "The mansion, a three-story Coronado landmark at 711 A Ave., was designed by noted architects William Hebbard and Irving Gill in 1898 for A.P. Stephens. It was purchased in 1915 as a retirement home by Marshall O. Terry, former surgeon general of New York. Mr. Hansen bought the home at auction in 1950. He raised two families there - his four sons and two nephews and a niece, whom he took in after the death of their parents." Union Tribune Such a treat to find a 117 year old mansion style home! Now if I could only get the realtor to give me the grand tour of the inside.
