When I first took my son to this place he was speechless... granted he was a year and a half old…read moreand couldn't say a whole lot anyway but what few words he had he didn't say! Now I know you are gong to say "Of course Q, its a toy shop, what do you expect?" and its a fair point, but this place is different - all of the toys have an educational slant and for once his doesn't mean the place is the equivalent of a stalk of broccoli to a child, the stock is well chosen and fun, and appealing to the ankle biters! They also have a whole range of art and craft supplies for those rainy days; stickers, card, glitter, glue, glittery glue etc etc etc. I know you'll really want to know so I'll tell you, after my son had recovered his power of speech we decided on a cow as a suitable memento from our visit, he was still clutching it as he went to bed this eve!

This place has the types of toys that you want your kids to play with, no play stations and Wiis or other electronic stuff it has total back to basics kind of things. these are the kind of toys that the kid who plays with the box instead of what was in the box needs, they don't need fancy pants complicated stuff they need a trip to nimble fingers.its like the shop is teeming with innocence. The art supplies in the shop are top quality too, anything you need in the way of arts and crafts can be found in here. I also love how this is a family run independent store, its not a greedy chain looking for a fast buck, it seems that the shop people in here genuinely care about what they do

On a recent trip to Slane we were looking for somewhere to get my mum a gift as she was looking…read moreafter our dog while we were away on our jollies. We didn't really want to get her anything too touristy like a postcard because we were only about an hour down the road but we did want to get here something unique to Slane so when we stumbled upon the Slane Craft Creative we knew we were in luck. The shop itself is made up of crafts made by different creative folk. There's everything from up-styled furniture, candles, diaries and framed pictures of the beautiful Slane. Each section of the shop is divided up in to different categories and each category has a cute wee biography explaining the creators of the pieces and the history. We ended up looking around for about an hour until we finally found a locally made candle set for my mum. The lady working in the shop that day offered to gift wrap the candle at no extra cost which was a nice touch. She then explained the concept of the store - she said that each person who exhibits/sells there does one day a week working in the store and they each support their fellows designers products. We thought this was just lovely and it really made an impression on us. The shop is lovely and serine and there's absolutely no pressure to purchase anything if you just want to browse. I can't find a single fault with the Craft Collective and I highly recommend popping in if you're in Slane! An easy five stars!

Their shop stocks paintings, ceramics, stained glass, textiles, paper crafts, up-cycled furniture, stunning photography, jewellery, wood turned pieces and much more. It is a great mix of arts and crafts and their stock seems to change and update regularly.
