I gave them 1 star only because giving 0 wasn't an option! This place is a joke! Don't even bother to put down a deposit because you won't be getting it back anyway! Lived in a duplex with them for multiple years and they have to be hands down the worst rental company ever. It's like pulling teeth to get their maintenance team to fix anything (if you are even able to get them to return a message about things needing fixed). The office staff has to be the most unprofessional group to deal with. Anytime I ever went in there with questions about our lease they could never find it... Not to mention they can never seem to get names spelt correctly on it anyway. No one will return a phone call or email and when they do email you back you get nothing but defensive attitude from the person responding. At the time of move out you are responsible for paying a professional carpet cleaner to come and clean your carpets (even if they have verified that they will just replace them when you move out), and if you have pets you must pay for a professional flea treatment (even if it's not needed), as well as a professional fireplace cleaning with proof of invoice from each. If you don't repaint your walls for them they will take $200 out of your deposit even if you never changed the color of the walls to begin with. Plus after spending 4hrs making sure that place was cleaner than the day we moved in and buying all new blinds for every single window I still got charged $105 for cleaning (which I would imaging would only be to clean up the mess their team made making it subpar for the next residents after they repainted for them) and $45 for blinds that were already brand new with tags still attached. Not to mention Another $50 for water.... Even though water is a private bill. Having worked in property management before I find this company to be laughable. But I guess it's ok.. Out of an $1,100 refundable deposit I got $500 back too bad I can't cash it because they still don't know what my name is as it is once again wrong on my check. I had these folks manage a rental house for me for about 1.5 years. I found them to be very unprofessional and very unresponsive. It is nearly impossible to reach anyone on the phone. When you do leave a VM, they are very slow to return the call, if ever. Often times, I received incorrect information about my account, which is problematic. When there were problems, CJ Real Estate was very slow to react. Their lack of pro-activeness cost me money, time, and grief. I have since closed my account with these folks. Worst customer service I've ever had while looking for a rental property. I had an appointment set and they canceled it telling me no reasons why and for me to reschedule. So I gave them the benefit of doubt & made another, I sat at the location in LS for 30minutes and no show, I call company the lady was extremely rude telling me they had errors on their website and she believed it to be unavailable but she would have the property mgr call me for other available properties.(never recieved a call) So I thought it must be rented then, drive by few days later as we currently live in area, and a rent sign is now up, I call back asking to see it & inquire why it wasnt available for my 1st 2 appointments but now it is, she very rudely told me she didnt know they couldnt get into it and to again go online to make an appointment, frustrated by now but trying to be understanding, I again make another appointment, take my family to see it, and again no show, I call and I was told if I didnt confirm via email and hour before they automatically cancel which was NEVER stated any of the 3times I made the appointments. She then says well its rented anyways, so I was required but never instructed to confirm my apt but I didnt even recieve a call that it wasnt available anymore. Most unprofessional rude rental company I've ever dealt with!! Dont waste your time or gas trying to see their properties...they are just kidding they arent really for rent!! read more

I had a viewing scheduled which the agent herself setup for me and she failed to show up for it. When she finally called me back she claimed it wasn't on her list for the day. So I totally wasted my time and gas driving all the way over there not to mention I missed a day of work. When I tried to call the office to talk to a manager I got her voicemail which stated leave a message I will get back to you within 1 business day. She didn't I had to call back and wait on hold just to be able to talk to her. And of course she blamed the system they use to set up viewings. read more

I would not recommend this agency, I've had countless issues with them. First off, their customer service is very poor and they are located an hour away from the property I rented from them, so you'd think they'd actually pride themselves on corresponding with customers. If I had a maintenance issue, they'd follow up with me months later. Finally, they were an hour late to the final inspection of the property before we vacated. I had to take time from work and Christy didn't so much as make a courtesy call, nor did she apologize for being late. When speaking with the the customer service rep, she couldn't provide an ETA. I would highly recommend against using and am considering letting necessary people on base aware that this place isn't military friendly and to recommend against airmen being able to rent from this company. We rented a property from CJ for 1 year. it was a nice house and was a newer one at that. for a new home it had the normal problems a "renter" style house would have. which made no sense to us. i would figure they would want to keep the new look as long as possible. but what do i know, i just had to look at it everyday. peeling paint inside and out, patchy lawn etc. my biggest complaint with this company is the lack of communication. whenever you call them for anything, the person who "eventually" answers the phone always says " I cant help with this but i will forward to the correct person". well that person never calls back and it takes numerous attempts to get an answer. now at move out...thats the problem. be sure and save money for moveout. they wait beyond the 30 days (required by law might i add) to issue a check for your deposit. they claim it takes a period of time to review previous pics to evaluate the funds to return. i understand that, but when the house gets rented directly after you move out, there is no way they are reviewing anything. and btw. they give you a lousy 2 day grace period for rent... like i said, save your money. there are many other real estate companies in the area. look elsewhere and save your upcoming headache. they could be a great company if they would try. they just care about money and not the renters that are their customers. keep in mind CJ, our opinion is still matters, even after we leave..... read more

If I could rate it no stars I would. This was absolutely the worst experience we have ever had with a real estate company. Very crooked landlord as well. We were promised one unit and it was rented out from under us. Then they put us in another unit we had not seen until move-in day with the promise that it was renovated and had new carpet. The place was a total dump. Dirty, bug infested and no new carpet. Dishwasher didn't work, kitchen cabinets were falling off and it had not been painted. They promised to fix the things right away but that never happened either. Then when we moved out they tried to charge us for all the things that needed fixed. We told them about the discrepancies and problems we had during the year we lived there and they said they would get back to us. Never heard from them so we didn't pay. Two years later, we received a notice from a collection agency. Can't get anyone to call back or help with this issue. read more

If you enjoy living with property management ignores requests this is the place for you. If you enjoy them sending a cousin over to fix things instead of paying a professional this place is for you I recently found out that the reason they did not have professionals come to fix the property is because they had been accused of not paying bills to previous maintenance companies. I don't know how true this is I can only say what was reported to me but what I can say is that they have yet to fix what I was told was going to be fixed in August of 2016. Since this company has taken over the property the neighborhood has entirely gone into disrepair. I have reported both parties in the middle of the street as well as gang graffiti being put on mailboxes. They seem to be perfectly okay with renting to the silk of person. They are entirely comfortable and asking for 90 days notice before you leave. They are also very Savvy at ignoring request and emails and phone calls but are quick to send emails to remind you to pay your rent. These are lecherous individuals who do not deserve one penny of your money. Run at all cost from this management company. read more

sure wish I would have seen the reviews prior to renting a home form CJ RE We rented a home which was supposed to be in "move in ready" condition. We tok over 200 photos of the filth and dirt and had to clean before we moved our things. Every thing was an issue from looking online and the photos not being the house shown to toilets that had been used several times and not flushed. CJ told us "some dirt is common from showings" OMG some yes but when we vacuumed we got 3 canisters of dirt from the "professionally cleaned carpet" Never again will we use this company There were even bugs in the windows & on the floors and the porch light was hanging down and drier vent so plugged the drier didn't work...Why did we stay? starting work on Monday and this was Saturday read more

I lived in a property in Kansas City, Kansas for 3 years that CJ REAL ESTATE, INC managed. When I moved in the lower bedroom had a moldy smell. I had to replace a rug that was mold infested. The lower bedroom had been collecting water over a period of time assuming, we discovered the crack in foundation after removing rug. After receiving some of my deposit back after moving from the location I was not satisifed and I sent copies of my receipts to CJ REAL ESTATE for the installing and rug cost. They responded I could not be refunded because I did not have an agreement with owner of property to replace the rug. My family and I could not use the lower bedroom for a while due to inhabitable living area. CJ Real ESTATE keep promising repairs of this matter but never did. read more

My husband and I were moving from out of town and knew nothing about the area. And we were looking to be in quickly so they knew we were desperate. The real estate agent was very friendly and communicative until we filled out the application and payed the fee. We told her our situation and what we needed She seemed very understanding AT FIRST...... We applied for an apartment and would hear so many different stories as to when it would be ready, if it was available, and even lied about the rent amount. We spent two weeks communicating with the agent and the office to try to get a strait answer and never did. The office manager basically told us not to contact the office anymore. They had our information, our application fee, and an 800$ "holding deposit" check in the mail. Needless to say I'd had enough of the uncertainty! I went with my gut and canceled the check they would be receiving and told them we would no longer be doing business with them. I stayed back home and my husband had to move without us. He met with latta real estate and they found us a wonderful town house that took less than 24 hours to get approved and our move in date was within a week. Do not do business with CJ!! beware!!! do not rent from this company!!! this company does not have a moral bone in its body. i was evicted due to losing my job of 14 years. being out of work, i still made sure to clean the townhome and i rented a carpet cleaner and cleaned the carpet better than it was when i first moved in. i took excellent care of the townhome and they still told me if i don't have a receipt for the carpet being professionally cleaned they would charge me 150.00-250.00 in fees. read your lease very well. in that lease it will list the price for everything that they will charge you for..!!! it is rediculous!! we all know that all companies are in the business of making money but to do it without morality or integrity is very heart breaking!!! rent at your own expense, they will try and take any money you ever try to make!!! read more

cj real estate huh? more like cj & associates bill collectors. i have no idea on why they call them selves real estate when all they car about it collecting the money on the first of every month. they are money hungry and each and every one of them are scam artist from the owners jim and christy jones to the staff sherri smith to the agents lori to the maintenance scott from blue river. everything was all fine and dandy when we moved in, then after we signed the least, we was literally screwed like a sreaw in the wall...stuck! let me explain, there was mold all over the walls risking airborne pathogens, they didn't care. scott the maintenance guy tried fixing a leak to our toilet then ended up flooding the whole bathroom along with the basement causing the floor to be awkward. it was never fixed or mentioned again. they showed our house to other future possible tenants while we was still living there. we didn't have blinds or a few window screens and the deck was missing a few rungs so my dog tries to jump off this was also mentioned to cj bill collectors, of course nothing was done. also lori the leasing agent accepts bribes of alcohol any time, perhaps her favorite type of beer is "mica lob ultra" a six pack to be exact, and it was giving to her from a prior tenant. they took our $500 deposit b/c the carpet wasn't professionally shampooed and for cleaning. that is very unprofessional and i mean, how low can you go? so if any of you guys plan on doing any type of business with cj bill collectors, please its not worth your time and hard earned money. i didn't get paid for writing this, i just don't want this to happen to any body else cause this right here...is non sense. thank you for your time everyone, have a good day! read more

CJ Real Estate in Blue Springs, MO does not even deserve a star. They are by far one of the most unprofessional and unorganized companies I have ever worked with. We moved in March 1 of 2014 to a complete mess. The place was dirty, the carpets were supposed to be cleaned and were not-- in fact we had to call several times just to get the carpets cleaned. We then had bug issues from day one. It took us calling weekly for them to do something about it. The deck was missing a board and had another broken board, again it took us calling three times and then finally sending an email with a picture attached to it for someone to even look at it. We have not one time been late on rent or followed the expected guidelines. As summer approached-- one room would not get any air in it and then again the heat would not work in that same room come winter. We have an infant and could not even put her in her room due to the temperatures. Our electric bill went over $300/ month because they would not fix the issue. The air in that room is still questionable. We renewed only because we are buying a house the next year and did not want to move twice. At the time of the lease the leasing agent lost the lease we signed and they fined us over $400 in fees. I can go on and on.... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! read more

My boyfriend and I separately have been renting apartments/townhouses every year for about 10 years now. I have never experienced such dysfunction in operations and the lack of help from any company I've rented from. Not to mention I got screwed out of half my security deposit for problems in the place that were there BEFORE we moved in. CJ has an initial inspection, 6 month inspection, and final inspection....with 3 different people. So what the first person sees is not what the last person sees, which I think plays a huge part in why I got screwed out of so much of my security deposit. Every time I emailed the office for help a person would respond with one word answers or the shortest answers possible that never answered my questions. I had so many things go wrong inside the townhouse, including lights, the ac/heat, and dishwasher, because the place is poorly constructed and nothing is repaired even though they say it is once the previous tenant moves out. I have never experienced any problems out of the numerous companies I've rented from, so this is all a first for me. I will not recommend this company to anyone and I have already spread the word on my social media accounts. read more

Had we not been in such a hurry to get into a new rental as we were relocating for my husbands job, we would have bypassed this company after meeting with the agent that showed us the property. She was wearing a vulgar t-shirt, 'ride a cowboy' type sayings on the front and back, jeans and messy hair. 'It's a Monday' she said as she greeted us. Immediately we were turned off on renting but agreed to take the leap. After moving in, my husband and I quickly realized the property has not been cared for as it should be. They replaced the carpet before we moved in and for days we were finding staples and pieces of broken glass embedded in the carpet despite vacuuming over and over. Now we are having to deal with staples along the wall and edges where carpet was 'nailed' down and my son has cut himself twice on the staples that are sticking through the carpet. Looking forward to moving out of this crap shack and not having to deal with the non professionals that 'manage' this place. read more
