New carpet, and a smaller (on purpose) selection of quality items. As far as second hand shops, this is the best I've ever been to. Their book selection alone is enough to make your visit worthwhile, tons of great Indie finds if you're a hipster (saw a 1983 WVU Rose Bowl shirt I was dying to get but it was too large for me), and then some high end items as well. The management is helpful and you'll always find friendly service. One of Garret County's best spots!

So after walking around the downtown area(which is small and quaint) and visiting several of the different specialty shops, local restaurants, cafes, and all of the antique/thrift stores(from whom we purchased a wide variety of new and old books from). I was stoked to see this place after not being in Downtown Oakland since my daughters mothers brother lived right up the street from this place. I know, I know. Haha :) First off, the exterior is very alluring and draws you in and that's what made me and my friend want to enter, look around and purchase as many books as possible because we both love a good bookstore and reading. Though that wouldn't be the case because when I opened the door for us to walk into this establishment we were met at the door by a super rude lady who said we weren't allowed to enter the business unless we had on masks, but not a single business in Oakland had this policy except them. Very helpful and…read moreaccommodating (holding an item til end of day, providing information about dates of new inventory, etc) On all my visits the Owners have been upbeat and pleasant, they are friendly if you want conversation but not overbearing (give you space to shop and talk amongst yourselves if you go in with someone) They sell a great variety of products, and it's not the same inventory every time. Their inventory constantly changes but it always below big store retail. The only items that are constant are the products made by them (i.e. custom made shirts, hoodies, etc) Everything is new. They usually carry, footwear, clothing, baby items, seasonal items, kitchen wear, games, toys, household items, I have even seen a pellet gun, gas cans, heat tape, and plumbing supplies. We saw a few pretty expensive stores, and another one in town that was more affordable but were told to go to Roderick's. It was about 30 minutes E, NE of Oakland but we were so glad we made the visit. Roderick's is in the town of Westernport, which we found easily using Google Maps. The store has so many options spread out over two floors. It's an old building, so naturally the ceiling is low. If you're tall, just watch where you walk. We found a few different La-z-boy options that were perfect for her. Once she picked out the one she wanted from a photo we sent her, they helped us put it in our SUV and we were out of there pretty quickly. I started wandering around looking for pieces for our house that I fell in love with. We'll be back later in the year with a moving truck to buy more, because we are definitely out of their delivery range. Their prices are right on point as well.
