I did enjoy the beans and I did enjoy the flavor of the potato salad, but the potato salad was hot and mushy almost like mashed potatoes, which was weird. I went Cj's, I was with my female friend. We were ordering separately. The man in the front took her order. Then asked what I would like? He then proceeded to prepare her order, which took about 5-10mins. She had the Chicken Plate. He then picked up the order pad & asked me again? I told him Ribs with a side of fries. As I was waiting for about 10mins. He replied we're just waiting on the fries. Meanwhile my friend is in the car eating because she was very hungry. Then the man tells me the fryer isn't on. I wait another 15mins, he tells me again, we're just waiting on the fries. Finally about being there for 25-30mins. He gives me my order. Usually if an establishment makes a mistake like that? They will usually give you something complimentary for your troubles. He didn't, I also didn't ask. When I get home. I had ordered the ribs. They were so dry as if they were prepared a day or two earlier. No flavor. The fries after all that time were mushy & uncooked. Just very soggy & greasy. I've been there before but ordered something different, Brisket & Potato Salad. It didn't take as long, basically all you have to do is slice the meat & the Potato Salad you just put in the plate, because it is already pre made. The prices were very expensive & the portions were very small. I was very disappointed. I will never go back there again. No courtesy,food & service was very poor. I'm in the food industry, I would never present food like that. If there a mistake made which I created,I would definitely give a complimentary item to make sure they would come back to support my Buisness. This place is well known for the fact it's the only BBQ spot in that location. The entire Restaurant looked unsanitary. Good BBQ! Have had this bbq a few times at family parties when they cater so I had to hit up the brick and mortar. Just know before you go it's cash only and the only drinks they have is a soda machine so in my opinion it's best as take away. The sliced beef (I think it was tri tip) was very good and tender! The spicy bbq sauce has a great taste and not overly spicy. The bbq chicken was also very tender and had a nice smoke flavor while not being too smokey. The bbq beans on the side were pretty good but you get a tiny portion. I thought the cup that they came in was a side of bbq sauce at first. This plate was around $30. I have passed by this location so many times and I don't know why I haven't made the effort to try it. This is definitely one of those places that are considered a 'hidden gem'. Firstly, the atmosphere was definitely Very relaxed and chill. It looked like a typical food establishment that you would walk in to and grab your food and go. It wasn't until I noticed the giant barbecue smoker located right outside of the establishment. I knew from there on out I was in for something amazing. Secondly, the service definitely made me feel at home as the staff welcomed my family and I in and the hospitality was so comforting. I honestly felt like I was with family. Last, but not least I would have to say the food here blew my mind. The barbecue and the sides and just everything in general was delicious. I just went yesterday and now I'm gonna go again today because there were items. I didn't even notice because I was so fixated on the smell that emanated throughout the whole restaurant and even to the parking lot. This is a side of beans that came with my $26.00 rib meal. It's bad enough I was forced to pick sides. I have never ever ever ever ever been to a barbecue place that did not let you buy the meat à la carte they straight up said no but the options for sides were laughable. They playing in our face and I work to hard and try to support and I get this. Also, ribs are drenched in bbq sauce but they are flavorless. They taste smoked without seasoning. Good ribs don't need sauce, it should be optional. They were very nice but.... They played in my face. The main test of a BBQ place is are the ribs good. Here, the ribs were...not the best. There was a ton of sweet sauce on them that wasn't particularly memorable, but the meat, while well-smoked, was not fall-off-the-bones tender and didn't seem to have much seasoning to make up for the sauce. The sides (mac salad and potato salad) were not good. Took one bite from each and threw them away. I would put Gracie's over CJ's if you're getting BBQ in the area. The service was fine. It is, seemingly permanently, cash only, and do be prepared to wait a bit.
