Never again. We ordered a 2 way special with ribs and chicken. The ribs were plentiful and a good size but, we got 6 of the toughest ribs ever. The chicken was so small I'm wondering if it was just a Cornish hen. We got potato salad and beans as a side, and the beans are def canned beans because they taste exactly like the canned beans my grandma uses. The potato salad was lukewarm and they literally only gave us about a tablespoon and a half Of salad and beans. The only redeeming quality was the sauce. Not worth the price for the amount of food or quality. Will not be returning. read more

Their menus looks good. So this would have been my first time ordering here, but after the rude phone service I just received I will never support this business. There website says open until 9pm pst, I called at 7:15pm pst to place my order. The lady who answered the phone was rude and had an attitude. I guess things have changed over the years. I came down to CJ's and notice a lot of changes especially how much of a significant change in pricing of the food. I paid almost 80 dollars for two plates and a side not to mention that my chicken was dry and inedible to eat, as well as, the beans were uncooked in which I had to throw them away. CJ's is a family favorite. Their meats are cooked to perfection and their potato salad goes CRAZY. Their prices are extremely reasonable and they have a good amount of items to choose from. Had a pleasant experience with staff despite the reviews. I got the 2-way meal with beef hot links + shredded beef with their hot sauce and mac salad and fries as sides for $23. Spicy level is not at all burning. Sounds pricy but the portions are huge, definitely easily shared between two people. Look up for their deals taped at the bottom of the menu too (i.e. 3-way meal for $12). Freaking LOVE the house BBQ sauce and meat is super tender. Fries could use a little extra salt, but pretty minor. Also random note-- they don't offer cups for water so bring your own or purchase bottled ones for $1. Clearly they don't care about food preparation. - the BBQ sauce has a lot of sugar. Wayyyy to sweet. - the baked beans are just beans with BBQ sauce. - the potato salad is not chunks/cubes of potatoes, it was mashed potatoes. - it was over $60 for dinner for two. Would recommend taking out as opposed to eating in as there's not much seating and sometimes they're a bit understaffed and won't be able to clean up in time. Warning, SPICY is actually pretty darn spicy. Medium has a good heat to it, so I would recommend that unless you are can handle good amount of spiciness. The ribs are good and the chicken is pretty alright. Brisket can be a bit dry sometimes. Service can either be okay, or really good depending on who's working. Aside from the Bbque and side dishes being hella good, the people there are always EXTREMELY nice! I also enjoy the bakery items, they are delivered from a local bakery in Oakland. I thought the mild flavor on the ribs was the best thing ever! The service was excellent...the cashier lady was funny and sweet...she has such a great personality. She works really hard and the guy working the back was doing an awesome job putting orders together and working the grill. They have some great customer service skills, very personable. Ordered a slab of ribs and it came with 3 sides: Mac and cheese (yummy), baked beans (good), and French fries (made fresh, cut the potatoes in front of us... But they were quite soggy). I had to toast the fries when I got home and that fixed them right up. The ribs were delicious, there was a good amount of sauce on them but not overpowering. Called in the order and it was ready when we arrived - less than 30 minutes. The pork ribs were near perfect. They were tender and absolutely delicious. We smelled the smoke when we entered the parking lot. The potato salad and baked beans paired well as always.
