    Donkatsu
    Tanera J.

Stopped by here today because it's really close to my job. I decided to order the donkatsu and fried dumplings. I almost got the short ribs but maybe I will go back and try them. The service was really good and the guy who took my order was very nice. Food was made fresh And came out pretty quickly. The restaurant was very clean which I loved. There were a few ppl dining inside also. The donkatsu was good and crispy. It was a hair dry but nothing that the sauce didn't help with it. Only thing, I didn't get enough sauce for it. The fried rice is really plain and lacks flavor but I added soy sauce and I liked it paired with the katsu even tho it was plain. The dumplings were good. More flavor to them but they were puffy in the middle which was a lil different. The filing inside was delicious though and the dipping sauce was great. I think I would return again and try some other menu items to really get a feel for this place. My order was kind of basic tbh. But it wasn't bad for the price and convenience to my job.

2 meat combo with fried rice.

What a great lunch. I had never been to this restaurant, and the cashier made a wonderful recommendation. I got the fried rice and the 2 meat combo meal, with a drink included. Both the beef and the spicy pork were amazing, and the fried rice was extremely delicious. Price was reasonable. The dining area was clean and elegant. Overall it was a wonderful lunch, I will definitely come back to this restaurant when I am in the area.

    CJs bulgogi grill.

I went to this place during the lunch rush with a couple of buddies. It was spectacular. Super hot and flavorful. Every component of the meal was delicious. The spicy chicken was just spicy enough, super juicy, and slightly sweet. A great accompaniment for the spicy pork bulgogi. This too was 5 star bulgogi. I've been to many high end Korean establishments that are great...but not as good as Cj's. The pickled cabbage was not very strong but was perfect to cleanse the palate. I think their potato salad is my favorite I've ever tried. It's FAST casual. I stress fast. They were swamped and were got our food in 7 minutes. The experience was so good that I went back 2 days later for carry out to verify if it was THAT good. Well...it was. I went in after work. It was slow with only one patron sitting. Staff was super nice and eager to take my order. Three people sprung into action to prepare my order. I watched them make my food fresh. Nothing reheated. Nothing was pre cooked. I ordered the same exact order as two days before and took it to my hotel to eat. It was the same level of spectacular I had already experienced. Consistency is key with me. I like knowing I can go get the same quality time after time after a long day at work. This place has the secret sauce. Both figuratively and literally. Bravo!

    Beef Bulgogi and Kimchi

This place is absolutely delicious with great portions. I love bulgogi and grew up eating it and this place is by far the best I've had in the area. The Kimchi was amazing and wish I could get a jar of it. The pickled cabbage was tasty as well. Service was awesome. I wanted the Beef Bulgogi but made the mistake of ordering the Spicy Bulgogi, just assuming it was beef as well, despite the multiple signs directly in front of me. I realized mid order and they were nice enough to change the order for me even with the lunch rush. It was completely my mistake and they took care of it which I was very appreciative for! I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area!!

Ordered takeout directly at the location, food is cooked to order. Place had lots of seats and everything looked new. Good service. Food- For the price for a Bulgogi bowl ($12) I was pleasantly surprised by the portion of meat, taste (great char on the Bulgogi) and flavor. CJs...this is how you win a new loyal customer! The rice was soft and fluffy, delicious. This is a perfect meal for some GAINS. Well done, great local business that has fantastic flavor and phenomenal value.

Food is really good and a good portion for around $14. Got the spicy bulgogi. It's a great takeout option too that doesn't take too long for the food and is grilled when you order so the food is fresh. Easy to order as well

Wouldn't recommend the chicken Katsu the chicken is very thin and just comes with rice and cabbage?

Always tasty and filling on a budget. Friendly service in a clean, casual atmosphere. Hip and trendy but not pretentious. Come sample some "American-friendly" Korean food if you're not familiar with the cuisine.

    #4 chicken breast, delicious!

What was once a well crafted plate of food, has become a sad meal. The meat was so salty and overly sweet I ended up throwing away half. (Had the combo bulgo beef and spicy pork) The pickled cabbage looks like the sh-- I throw away from prepping veggies. The teaspoon of potato salad is insulting small. The only saving grace was the fried rice. I don't even care they are discontinuing the free miso soup (which is also bs btw). But just look at my pic from two years ago (when they first opened) to the slop I got served today... you can tell the care and love they used to put into the food is gone.

After getting inside I could tell why. The BBQ smell hits you as you open the door and it smelled sooooo good. They had a giant menu written onto the wall. Some of the meats were sold out. We debated for a bit and then decided to do a group order. Our Group of 7 people ordered the Cattleleack Platter and sides of burnt end beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. Oh and don't forget to ask for cornbread too. Inside tey had large tables and benches to sit at and we secured our spot. The food was delicous. The Beef Rib was huge and melted in my mouth. The brisket was amazing and seasoned well. Everything tasted great. Everyone ate til they were full and we still had leftovers. I ate them later at night and they were still good. This place is pricey, definitely worth a visit.

I follow the chef/owner on Instagram (@kafibbq), and the amount of effort and detail he puts into his craft has resulted in multiple return visits for me. This review is for my latest visit. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Kafi BBQ can be found in a shopping strip in Irving-Valley Ranch. Only opened Friday - Sunday, on my most recent Sunday visit around dinner time, Kafi was packed. The patrons were a great mix of families, BBQ lovers, and those looking for high quality Halal meats. Smoke was in the air. 1 Star. Service - The staff is super friendly and nice. Pro Tip - Go for lunch or before 6 before items are sold out. A few items were sold out on my most recent visit (my fault I arrived at 6:45) and the staff weren't aware of what was available, leading to some confusion, but they were so nice it didn't impact my meal. 1 Star. Food - By now, you've probably read or heard about Kafi's Wagyu Brisket. For me, I love following @kafibbq on Instagram so I can see what Salahodeen is cooking up. On this visit, it was the Brisket Sandwich. First off, the house baked bread roll is soft, but firm enough to hold Kafi's famous brisket on a pile of home made cole slaw and pickles. The result was one of the best BBQ sandwiches I've eaten. The bite was soft, smokey, crunchy, and tart (from the pickles). It was a special, and I'm not sure if Kafi will keep this on the menu, but I hope they do. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. It's pricey, but it's worth it. While the brisket is great, I suggest you follow them on Instagram to see what's cooking and plan your visit around the specialty items. 1 Star.

Even when we weren't sure about which appetizers we wanted she allowed us to split appetizers- a small portion where we got to try the apps. We tried the tenderloin crostini which was delicious. Along with coconut shrimp. The shrimp were ginormous. And the sauces were so good. Our fav was the mango marmalade. The best bread I have ever had in my life!!!! You know how sometimes they bring a roll to the table for the table to share? Not here boyeeeee Each person gets their own roll. I don't even know how to explain this heavenly bread. It truly is the best beard I have ever had before. I would come eat here again JUST FOR THE BREAD. The crab cake is out of this world. Huge jumbo clumps. Also comes with a variety of sauces. The wasabi one was our favorite. You must order the crab cake! My husband got the ribeye rare and said it was the best steak he has had, and he eats a ton of steak. I got their off menu item of carne asada tacos. The meat was sooooo tender. They don't use flank steak they use a tenderloin and it just melts. The mushrooms were Devine. Glad I ordered the carne asada. The adult Mac and cheese was good but just good. Brussels sprouts were good (not the best I have had) but I think I was also just so full by this point. The asparagus is huge!!! Oh the best finisher ever- the peanut butter pie!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!! I'm not even a dessert girl and I couldn't stop eating it.
