My Google Review:
I…read morerecently took the hydrofacial and cryolipolysis courses here, and I want to leave some honest feedback about my experience, both for others considering the school, and for the school itself.
Positives: The school is beautifully decorated. Very fancy/chic looking, and all the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The instructors were all lovely, especially Mackenzie! She's so cute and very knowledgeable about A LOT of services! She also offered organized notes for us to copy down and explained everything very thoroughly. 10/10 for her.
Negatives: The weekend receptionist is SO RUDE. I never got the emails with the class schedules/requirements/student portals for the theory learning. (Apparently the regular receptionist was away and I got missed, and it sounds like it happens frequently.) When I showed up for my hydrofacials class on Sunday, the receptionist asked if I had models. I explained I didn't know I needed them because I never got any info about the class. She told me she had two ladies in the building who could do it, but to tell Jessica (the instructor) as soon as I got to class, which I did. Then, when it came time for models, Jessica told me to ask the receptionist. When I did, she told me in a very snooty tone "Well, I didn't call anybody because you were supposed to come back down and talk to me after you talked to Jessica." Uh...okay? Except she never said that. She made it seem like it was MY FAULT when I'd not been informed of anything. Seriously, she should be fired. She has zero customer service presence.
The hydrofacials class felt really disorganized. Jessica, although very sweet (and apologetic about my situation), was writing notes, jumping from one topic to the next. The "quiz" at the end is open book, but we still had to ask her for answers to a bunch of questions that she hadn't explained. She didn't show us how to set up or tear down/clean the machine, and kept coming over and pressing the buttons/settings for us and being like "Okay, do the thing." What thing? How? The other girl in class and myself both left feeling utterly confused and unprepared. I will likely ask EB to take this class again (you can redo them for free) and ask for a different instructor.
In the hydrofacials class, there was a hodge-podge of drugstore products to use, and the other student didn't even have the same ones. We both had baskets of totally random stuff. (I had Garnier sunscreen, for instance.) I'm sorry, but for a $1400 class, you'd think they'd use professional products.
The school is too cheap to give you proper booklets (or just printed and stapled sheets) with any information. Maybe this is in the portal (I haven't seen it yet), but for the price, you'd think a hard copy would be included. My fellow student gave me paper out of her notebook to take notes on (again, I didn't get the email saying to bring paper/models/etc, so I had literally no idea what to expect.)
There was no hand sanitizer provided in any of the classrooms, not for theory or for the hands-on training. Especially during a pandemic, I find this really unsettling. Not all of the students were diligent about washing their hands either, and it wasn't enforced.
The hydrofacials course says its 32hrs online, but we had one 5.5hr day in class, and my classmate said that the theory in the student portal was just a bunch of videos to watch, which she did in 2hrs. Where's the other 24.5hrs of the course then?
One lady who modeled for me was a fellow student who'd taken the full Laser Technician course. You would think this would be an intensive course, since you're going to claim students are CERTIFIED LASER TECHS after, but she informed me it was a mere 5 days of hands on. You teach people 7 services in 5 days, and then let them GO LASER PEOPLE??!! I'm sorry, I think that's nuts. I wouldn't want to be lasered by someone with so little training.
I'm also a student at The Esthetic Institute, but wanted to take these two courses at EB to supplement my learning. TEI is way better. Much more organized, no rude staff, and way more training. IMO.
ALSO: Crazy how they have 4.5 on Google, but 2 stars on Yelp. Wish I would have checked here first. :/
