She was soft-spoken, warm and welcoming, and I felt like it was a perfect fit for my twins. Having been here a few more years and meeting more of the students and teachers, I have to say I am impressed with how confident and self-assured the kids are. I see them collaborating and helping each other. They really build a child's confidence and help them to find their individuality. Now I have to be honest with the racial tension, COVID-19 and life in general, from day to day you don't always know what to expect. It started last Friday when I made a call to Benson to clarify if my sons school schedule was available. The first voice I encountered was "Norma". This lady was so warm and friendly it scared me. She went on to explain to me in the most professional and warmhearted tone what I needed to do and who I needed to speak with. So as she transfers me, in my head I'm thinking breathe, because there is no way the second staff person I speak with is going to be even half as friendly,informative and professional as "Norma" and guess what, she wasn't, because it was her voicemail. So on Monday, after taking into consideration that I probably was the 100th caller Friday, I reached out to who Norma suggested. An low and behold, I hear the voice of yet another professional, friendly, kind and "how can I help you" voice on the other end of the phone. "Roi San" scheduled a time for us to meet and get everything straightened out. Tuesday my son and I go to the Benson campus @ Marshall and meet these two ladies in person. Same professional, kind, professionals I spoke to prior. Now this may not be a big deal to you, but its HUGE to me. This is a new school, new year, and a new phase of both our lives. There is so much going on in the world and it can literally make you paranoid about everything. It is very comforting and reassuring to know that your child is around people that show a genuine concern for their well being. First impressions are the best impressions and these two have made me a believer out of me. Now things may not always go as smooth, however its good to know that through all the hustle and bustle, Benson has a solid group of staff. I believe these two represent the staff in general and I applaud you all and sincerely thank you all for your dedication. Hats off to Roi San and Norma and I'm sure we'll see each other during the year. I hope and pray for a great school year for all and looking forward to a phenomenal four years for my child.

My daughter's self esteem has gone up tremendously. I hear her reading at night and I cry it makes me so proud! I was worried about my girl, but Kumon has been the answer to help her catch up. If your child is struggling, try the Kumon on 82nd. It might be one of the best decisions you ever make for your child.

We moved to Portland from the Netherlands, where he did little or nothing, and I am so happy to see him enjoying school, making new friends (whom I all like when I meet them), attending the Iron Chef Wednesday lunches, and thinking about his future and what he really wants to do with his life. When we attended the parent/teacher conferences together in October, he received one compliment after another from his teachers. Already encouraged by Ms. Chapman, the Principal, who answered my emails personally, and the really nice staff at LHS, who helped with documents and requirements for the IB and regular high school attendance, I realized that in real terms LHS has meant so much more for us. Check their site. Park whenever there are openings. Walk around and take in the sights. There are multiple little trails that take you into the woods or just stay on the main park and see the buildings. If you get a chance, drive it wander around the neighborhoods for some truly magnificent houses and contemporary homes. They are nice.
