Not even sure where to start...got referred to this place by BMW dealership to replace the driver side door that was completely damaged by trailer while I was parked. Instead of ordering a new unit to replace it with the body shop appears to have finagled a salvaged piece (while charging full price) and took over a month to do the work during which time we had to cover the rental expenses. More fun bits: - body shop called to say the work was done and car was ready to pick up - my Dad had to take a hour and a half train ride to get it only to find out they were still waiting on another part to finish the job...having to take a $50 Uber ride home after... - the "new" door has a worn down handle that is still leaving black residue on my hands, has obvious wheezing air leakage, and malfunctions electronically... TERRIBLE, dishonest service and product. read more

I have the luxury of parking in my own garage and prefer to back my hatchback into the the garage rather than driving it in nose first. That makes it easier when I have to drive again because i can just head out without the encumbrance of turning my head to the right then to the left to make sure the path is clear to exit when next I drive. So, nose facing outward I sprung the door to my hatchback up, loaded a case of water into the trunk, got into my car and exiting the garage, a loud crushing noise followed by tinkling noises occurred! I had neglected to shut the trunk door and the hatchback was mangled on the garage slide. Having used Clairmont Autobody, Inc , 2 Bloomfield ave before (a teenager rear ended me and I had to pay my own damages) and, I was thoroughly satisfied, especially with the rapidity and perfection of the repair. So, crushed glass and all, I drove to there once again but this time, I did NOT rent a car although I wanted to but Social Security doesn't cover car rentals. I got my car back yesterday and the job was beautifully done within 48 hours. I commend them too for the respect and business manner in dealing with me. I hope NOT to see them again in this life and even if I need to wait longer to get my auto's bodywork done, that's where I will go. I brought my car here after it got swiped while parked on the street. The perpetrator was nice enough to leave a note admitting her guilt so I went through her insurance, which had a contract with this body shop. The body shop quoted me a 24 hour, $1400 job, which was consistent with one other shop and way below the quote of a third shop, which quoted me $2400, but also 24 hours. Once they got authorization from the insurance company, they ordered the parts and called me a few days later to tell me they had arrived. They were flexible about when I dropped off my car and told me the job probably wouldn't take 3 days. They were right. It only took two, but there was an obvious bubble of paint I noticed immediately on one of the damaged panels. With a flick of a finger, the bubble fell off, exposing an even more obvious lapse in the paint job. I pointed this out to them and they "fixed" it by filling the hole in with some paint, but it didn't really fix the problem. Now it just looks like somebody dabbed black spray paint, which is not at all consistent with the pretty metallic black of the rest of my car I so carefully chose upon purchasing it. The only reasons I'm not at less than 3 stars are because the spot they had to fill in is really tiny and the staff was very friendly and professional. I shall see how that filled spot looks down the road, but my guess is that paint won't last through the winter. read more

I went here to have my Acura TL Repaired after an accident. They did an amazing job. Simon is a pleasure to work with. He was very kind and was very informative about the whole process. He communicated with me regularly providing me with status updates on my car. He would even text me pictures of the car as it went through the repair process, which i appreciated greatly. I sent my 2006 MDX over to repair accident damage on the doors. It took them more than a month to complete, yet the result was very unpleasant: color was off, door does not close flush, interior leather seat was damaged. I had to send the car back for another repair. They did fix the door and made color closer. But they denied responsibility of interior damage. They even lied to my wife and had her sign a statement to accept the fact that damage existed before when she picked up the car. Owner Michael Minniti cared only for money and nothing else. I would never recommend this shop to anyone. A big NO NO to this shop!!! read more

I was looking for an auto body shop with Saturday hours in Montclair and was recommended Clairmont by a family friend who has used them for many years. Our Subaru Outback needed both fog lights and an interior panel replaced. Mike and his team were organized and attentive. After placing the order for the parts via computer one of his office team decided to double check one of the parts because she suspected it was the wrong one and knew that some Subaru parts are tricky in their catalog. Sure enough, the part we needed was not even in the computer system and had to be ordered by phone. The dealer they called took forever and a day on the phone but I can't blame Clairmont for that - very happy we didn't discover the error the hard way. The work was done quickly, cleanly, and at a very reasonable price - highly recommended. It's clear from the many certifications and paraphernalia around the office that this shop does a lot of work on high end autos. Was nice to see that they can 'scale down' to more regular jobs/vehicles without costing an arm and a leg. read more

I read Kenny X's review of Clairmont Auto Body and I think he is not factual. I had my car repaired there four times and had nothing but GREAT service and a perfect job each time. Many of my family members and friends have also had there car repaired there and they also were extremely pleased with the results. They stand behind their work and we have never had a problem.
