    Nachos

I don't know why exactly, but the menu surprised me. Maybe because there was ton of saucy seafood options. The place is not for those who immediately judge the decor before trying the food, or maybe it is. For once the decor was actually a disclaimer of the food and service. For starters, the chips and salsa started out good and then halfway through the basket I noticed a waded up paper napkin holder... with a piece of waded up used gum! We had already ordered so I decided to follow through and not be too grossed out. I ordered nachos and they turned out good, but nothing to wow me enough to come back. The service was strange. It was as if the waitress wasn't even striving for a tip. Even the guy at the register acted strange. Um, no thanks. There are too many Mexican options in Lexington to even give this place another thought.

So in all fairness, I'm not a huge seafood person and from what I understand, Clamatos is a Mexican seafood specialty spot, so it may very well deserve all 5 stars, but I didn't eat any of the seafood dishes. Take my review with a grain of salt. As an all-around Mexican spot, I wasn't hugely wowed, and I didn't eat anything that I would want again, but that is not to say it wasn't totally great! It's just there are a lot of Mexican spots in town to check out and a place has to really blow me away to merit repeat visits. That being said, the next time I am feeling in the mood for a fish taco, I will definitely come here and let them have a chance to shine. I had some enjoyable chile rellenos, I got the impression they were in fact made on the premises, so that alone gets this place on my good side. My friend had a burrito and we discovered nice char marks on the vegetables, which was another mark of distinction. If I had kids, I would be more inclined to come here. They have an under-the-sea sort of theme going on, with lots of underwater murals and fish tanks and netting hanged from the ceiling and filled with fake crabs and stuff. I bet small kids would be super entertained. Also, some of their chips are fire engine red and that seems like another thing a kid would really dig.

I like food with a face. Makes me all caveman like.

A solid three. Okay, maybe two, but definitely not a one. And, two sounds so bad. My fish was fun to look at. The rice was nothing to make any mention of other than it was yellow. Oh, and it seemed to have some of that stuff that we used to get in cans called "veg-all" mixed in. I had to ask to have cilantro and lime brought to me. No pico was offered. The salsa was palatable. Bonus point given for corn tortillas rather than flour. I will say that the tilapia was well cooked. In some places too well cooked, but overall pretty good. It's the lack of condiments that really knocks this place down. Where are my tiny little onions? Where are the itty-bitty radishes? Those are the things that make Mexican food extra special yummy. They are so conspicuously absent here. Just saying, if you're going to go through the trouble of having a gi-normous cooked fish on a plate you should probably have some pico to go with it. You know, if you give a yelper a fish . . .

I'm going to start off saying this is the best Mexican restaurant in Lexington. It's a little hole in the wall place on Versailles rd inside of new circle rd. The food is delicious and priced really well and drinks are outstanding I give it 5 stars and could eat there everyday lol. Can't wait to go back.

Great service great "Norteño" music and a variety of Mexican delights on this menus. I had the nachos, and they where pretty good.

Really good tacos, beef tounge, carne asada, and carne pastar (orange-ish).

Best Fajitas in Lexington. Best homemade salsa in Lexington. Decent Mexican draft beer options as well. Prices are very reasonable.

The place is beautiful from the outside and the inside. It is a very modern establishment however, they have some unique qualities I hadn't seen in Lexington. For starters, they sat us right away even though it was busy. Next, we ordered a guacamole appetizer and someone came with a cart and made it fresh in front of us! I thought that was super cool since you also get to pick your toppings. The margaritas tasted amazing... it was truly a good ice cream base; I've had nothing like it. Their food is good, they have so many options and the portions are good but it is pricey. The vibe is super fun, it's like a genuine party. Definitely recommend to anyone who hasn't been. 10/10

This is only my second post, and unfortunately this visit was disappointing compared to our usual experiences. Our server was very friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. However, the beer came out warm, which was a rough start. We ordered the lettuce tacos and a cheesesteak quesadilla. It seemed like the food sat in the service window a bit too long -- the lettuce wasn't crispy and we had to ask for new lettuce for the tacos. The quesadilla itself was good, but it could've used some extra flavor. We also ordered hot sauce, but it wasn't spicy at all, which was a letdown. That said, we know what this place is capable of and this visit felt more like an off night than the norm. We'll definitely be back to give it another shot, because El Asadero is usually one of our go-to spots.

Y'all. Go. Go here. Right now. You will NOT regret it!!…read more I have a list of new places in Lex that I want to try this summer and this was on it. I was going to Trader Joe's and this was super close so I stopped by. It's in the shopping center with Clothes Mentor and Plato's Closet on Nich Road. I am in my taco era right now eating them once a day probably 5 days a week. The parking lot in front was packed so when I walked in to absolutely no one in the restaurant I was shocked. A very kind server named Fabiola sat me at a table and took my order. They didn't automatically bring out chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants, she asked if I wanted them. I ordered a water, a Baja fish taco, and a Baja shrimp taco. The tacos have in-house made fresh tortillas, and they were DELICIOUS. The shrimp and fish were clearly cooked to order. They came with a mild green sauce and then a hotter sauce, neither were my cup of tea but I can see how they would be good to others. I'm just a salsa girl. The chips and salsa were very good. I couldn't tell if the chips were also in-house made, they tasted better than typical Mexican restaurant chips, and were perfectly salted. The salsa was just right, and I'm a salsa snob. Ambiance = 5/5 's Food = 5/5 's Service = 5/5 's I can't figure out why this place was empty. The prices weren't high, the food was delicious, service was on point, location is great. Only thing I can think is that no one really knows about it? Fabiola said they had only been open for 6 months, so maybe it's not well known. But I HIGHLY recommend, and I will DEFINITELY be going back!!
