Awful and illegal service. I am new to glasses, and chose to go to this location as I work in…read moreSteinbach. The way I was treated was absolutely horrid. They made it extremely difficult to leave without buying glasses from them (which are hundreds of dollars more expensive then other stores) I never signed ANYTHING committing me to buying a pair of glasses through them, however I did pick out a pair I liked and they made them. I put zero money down, and actually left before they had even finished paper work on the glasses I wanted. When I realized how overpriced they were, I decided I wanted to just get my prescription and go somewhere like Lens Crafters. However they refused to give me my prescription (which I know is illegal) and when I told them that they legally had to give me my prescription they told me that they didn't. So I called Manitoba Health and the Optometry Association of Manitoba, who both confirmed that legally, under NO circumstances were they allowed to withhold my medical information from me. I even went so far as copying and pasting quotes from the Associations website (which state that regardless if a balance is owed, or ANYTHING else, you are not allowed to withhold that information) and sending it to Anderson Family Vision in an e-mail... When I gave them a call afterwards informing them that legally they had 30-days to give me a copy of my prescription, they told me that they had called the association and were told that they were within their legal right. So I called the Executive Director of the Optometry Association of Manitoba who had informed me that nobody had called them and discussed that case (so they obviously lied) and again informed me that legally they had to give me my prescription and that she would give them a call to let them know. A few days passed and I FINALLY got a call from Anderson Family Vision Care informing me that they would e-mail me my prescription, which after another day they finally did. The experience was awful and it makes me sick to my stomach that any business would treat its prospective customers in such a disgusting, illegal, and disrespectful way. The receptionists who work at the Steinbach Location are obviously not qualified to work in the industry, seeing as how they don't even know the law. I have heard numerous stories from friends, co-workers and family members who have had the same awful experience at the Anderson location in Steinbach. Do not let them manipulate you into getting your glasses from them, they will lie to you to get your business and make you feel like you have no other options. Legally, you are NOT in any way obligated to buy anything from them regardless of what they may tell you... know your rights, and know that the truth will always prevail. What a shameful business. Go anywhere but here.
