I understand the road is washed out, but there was no disclaimer for the bus ride. This could be extremely dangerous for anyone, let alone elderly and disabled people. The tour guide was kind, but we couldn't hear him during the bus ride. They need a speaker. The statue is awesome and it's a great view. I guess my complaints are only because the tickets were a little steep in price.

The story behind it is so inspiring, the trip up is bumpy but fun, and the actual statue is incredible. This is one of the largest statues in the US. Totally worth a visit.

He had an amazing knowledge of the caves and their history. We also enjoyed the gift shop and the restaurant after. We were starving from our cave exploration so the Bison burger hit just right!! I had no idea what to expect when I was on a road trip and my travel partner had booked us a tour…read moreof the Lewis and Clark Caverns. I knew I was in for a hike, but that's about all I knew. I was absolutely blown away with this magnificent experience! We hiked about a mile up to the cavern entrance. It was a steady incline and almost all in the sun, so come prepared for that. Sunscreen and a water bottle would be wise. By the time you get to the top, you're pretty toasty warm-and then you can cool off in the cold, dark cave. The cave/cavern (what's the difference?) is truly remarkable. Nature can be awe inspiring and what you see inside this mountain is a perfect example of nature's masterpiece. Be respectful and don't touch anything you're not supposed to touch. This isn't a horribly physical excursion, although there's a good amount of stairs, narrow spaces and even one area where you slide down on your bum. People who have any mobility limitations might struggle with this one-although I did overhear that there's an alternate tour for folks who might need accommodations, so ask about that. This was likely my favorite part of the road trip-even more memorable than Yellowstone! (Sssshhhh, don't get me in trouble for saying that.)

It exceeded my expectations and I kind of loved it even though he did not get to do everything that it had to offer. We had a self tour of the ranch and learned about different part of it (stables, bunkhouses, saw old vehicles, blacksmith shop, etc. Got to pet some horses, help put the chickens away, and we got to practice lassoing. We were there for just about 2 1/2 hours and I would have stayed longer. I would have wanted to tour the house (we didn't think our kids would be patient in there) and see the rest of the grounds. The ranger working was great too. As there were no interpreters there, she told us about some of the things and as I mentioned, she let my kids help with the chickens. A great, interesting place to stop just about at the midpoint from Bozeman to Missoula.

In summer staff grow, cut and store hay in the way thenoriginal ranchers did. A chuck wagon is set up by the barns where staff cook over an open fire and tell stories of cattle ranching. And yes, they do still have cattle on the ranch. Besides a tour of the home and many barns, bunkhouse and sheds, there are multiple trails to enjoy. This area gets quite hot in the summer so be sure to have water and sun protection. In winter it's windy and cold, so dress warm. A good amount of both car and RV parking is available. Public restrooms near the visitor center and the house. If in the area, this is definitely worth a visit for an hour or a day. Picnic tables are availble for guests use.

We were wanting to explore and hike the Helena area after visiting downtown…read more Quick search of best things to see and do, and Spring Meadow Lake state park came up. I think it was overrated. Only a few miles from downtown, and I think it was $8 fee for daily use. We expected to be there for quite a while but quickly realized when we got there it was probably going to be an hour or less. We walked around the lake 2x and I took some pictures and it was probably about an hour. There definitely was not much to do or see. There is a lake and there was a paddleboard class, there are ducks and birds, and there were some people eating lunch. I would not say this is a hidden gem or a gem, but if you want a park in the area it serves that purpose. I was expecting more based on the glowing recommendation for a top thing to see and do in Helena.
