I tried a pair of divine purple boots on and was determined to treat myself until I stood up and tried to walk. At that point I had to be real honest with myself and say: "SJ, you can do cowboy boots, you can do Cuban heels but there's no way you do 5" rock star boots and not break at least one ankle!" If any ladies out there are up for the challenge, those boots look and feel divine and at £59 for soft leather are a snip.

There are just shoes of every make and style all over the place. It's ace. It kind of gives you the confidence that there will definitely be something that you really like and will want to buy. And that's a good way to approach shopping. I actually went for a pair of Caterpillar shoes (I know, confusing!) from Schuh. Normally I wouldn't go for this make but they had some interesting high top deck shoes that didn't really look anything like Caterpillar shoes and were perfect for me wearing to work. At £50 they weren't cheap but they were exactly what I was looking for so I was pretty happy. The girl serving me was super friendly and helpful. She must have either been new or just ridiculously nice. It was great, anyway. There was a slight confusion with buying the shoes as it took ages for the box to be brought down from the stockroom, but apart from that, everything was great.

I don't think I've been to Clark's since those days, but I thought I'd pop in and see what kind of shoes they have nowadays. All the shoes in Clark's are really well made. Just like the days when school shoes from Clark's would last all year, these shoes will last you a good year or several more without breaking. Clark's shoes are always well made. Unfortunately, the styles going on here are still for folk a bit older than me, but I know my date of destiny with Clark's will come again. Just not quite yet.

Although they didn't have the shoes in my size, the assistant let me try them in a different colour and the size up in the pair I wanted so I could get a feel of the 'look' - a girl after my own heart or what. We chatted for a while and she was really lovely and helpful. After thinking about the shoes whilst I carried on shopping, I returned to order the shoes for free delivery to my home. I've just checked the receipt, her name was Sarah. So thanks for all your help and for being genuinely really nice! The store itself is a fair size and seems to be well stocked with a range of women's, men's and kids shoes, accessories and shoe protectors etc. I actually purchased a leather stretcher spray after Sarah sold me on it for a pair of shoes I was actually planning on returning to Topshop for being a tad too tight.

I explained that I had only tested the boots briefly on my motorcycle foot pegs to check fit and function, which caused minimal marks. What has disappointed me most is the customer service and lack of transparency: * I first asked for photographic evidence on 4 August, but Schuh did not provide these until much later, despite multiple emails. * The parcel was sent back while I was out; my neighbour refused delivery and I was not given any proactive tracking information until I chased repeatedly. * The customer service and complaints team were not helpful, often repeating policy but not answering specific questions or offering solutions. * When I asked for details of how their inspection or testing process works, no specific information was provided beyond saying the team is trained. * When I asked about independent escalation, I was told Schuh has no ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) membership and that any escalation would have to be done by me through Trading Standards or my bank. Customers should be aware that even minimal signs of testing footwear may lead to returns being refused, and there is no independent review of decisions.

While the shoes arent the most up to date and designer choice they are cheap and well made so you can buy the odd pair just for the odd night out and never wear them again. They have some really good bargains and are forever having sales with shoes at very low prices. They have a huge range of trainers at half the normal price for the top makes which are a plus. The staff are lovely and polite and always keen to help you. There is a small carpark outside or a bus stop if you have come via bus.

I called in this branch just to take a look at the footwear and see if there was any other clothing available ahead of my upcoming week in Barcelona, having used Schuh before when ordering my Ralph Lauren Polo trainers as I found them cheaper than rivals such as JD Sports, I thought this branch would be great on my search today. Schuh is a retailer which supports MyUNIDays, where you can get 10% off here in this instance if you qualify for it. The staff here didn't seem too welcoming or friendly sadly. The overall store inside, just seemed abit of a mess to me, it seemed to be a similar sort of layout and decor style to the other Schuh branch I have visited in the past, in Blackburn but for a city centre this just doesn't cut it. The store doesn't really stand out either on Market Street, which is the main shopping street in Manchester and as you go in, you can basically taste the clutter and disappointment, so sadly I feel this store let's down a big city like Manchester so deserves a single one star.

Poppy Red is a handy little children's footwear store in the cute little town of Ilkley. They are…read morequite a handy one it seems, as although ever-so-slightly off the beaten track they appear to be pretty popular. It's not really all that surprising really, though Ilkley has a few shoe shops none that I've seen cater exclusively to kids so they must be pretty specialist. They sell the all important school shoes, which to my understanding means smart, good for growing feet and black, generally. They also do more formal shoes, as little ones will be invariably required to attend weddings/meals and so on, and I was pleased to see that although there were some pretty and smart shoes here there were no horrid, ridiculous heels for 3 year olds in sight! If there was a heel at all, it was maybe a half centimetre at the most. Phew! As well as smart shoes they had a number of 'cool' options too. Some pretty dandy looking hi-tops, which I can imagine looking stupidly sweet on a little skater girl, and my least favourite - crocs. Eugh. I don't like them on adults at all. I suppose though, for wee ones, they are a pretty durable choice. I mean, I had them, after all and they lasted about 3 consecutive beach holidays. A number of good brands are also on sale, such as Mod8, Naturino and Sketchers. A handy shop for the little ones and their parents!

They have a really nice selection of shoes and are happy for you to call in and have shoes checked to see if you're ready for the next size. The first time I went in to have my daughter's shoes checked I was told there was definitely another couple of weeks in them when it would have been very easy to say she needed a new pair for the sake of a sale. I'll definitely go back to this shop for my daughter's next pair of shoes!

When I buy shoes and boots in here they always last me for ages and I don't have to get them re heeled for months. All of the boots in here are water proof and they do wide fitting shoes and boots as well. The staff are very helpful in haer and very polite. They will measure you feet for you if you ask and they always make sure you are satisfied with your choice before you buy.
