Brantano Footware is a large branch of the famous chain and I think it has been there for about 5 years now. The store is laid out in the traditional method of girls, boys, ladies and men's shoes but that is when the tradition ends. Instead of one or two brand names Brantano Footware offers all the top names is shoes. Names like: Sketcher's, Clark's, Kickers, Hush Puppies and running and sports shoes such as Nike and Adidas. There are loads more but they are just the few we have brought. All shoes are laid out by size and in pairs, which makes it so much easier to firstly find your size and then actually try them on! All shoes are cheaper than the company that actually makes them, and catch the sales and you really find a good bargain. There is a fitting service for children so there's no worry about buying the wrong size. There is also a little play area for little ones too.

Selby Shoe repairs used to be located within the 'In shops' complex now Home Bargains from the early 1980's. Even going back them the Selby Shoe repairs has always has a good name for honesty and expertise, which I can vouch for with the endless keys I have lost and several shoe repairs later. The staff are jolly and full of banter. A good solid established business with plenty of customers.

There is quite a lot of fashionable girls wear which is cheap but it tends to be often poorly made and quite tackysorry.. but on the plus side its great for youngsters who want something to wear as a one off say to a party. Tots N Teens also stock a wide range of school wear for all the local schools, which is cheaper but the colours are not quite right, especially the reds (speaking from experience). There is a good range of christening gowns, shoes and hats that look nice. Also just in is a range for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides. I recently brought the Rainbows uniform and it washes and tumble drys lovely. The staff are OK but not the most friendlyLOL was that put delicately enough?

Very cheaply made shoes that last less than 2 hours and when you complain the staff state " Well…read morethat's the way they are made ". Customer service has the same couldn't care less attitude also and because they have built the new Berlin wall behind the call centre staff you cannot speak to anyone other than these little hitlers. This company is part of a wider group of shoe shops trading under numerous names probably to hide from the complaints. Would not buy from this group again.

Its more of an 'alternative' shoe shop, selling skate type shoes and other similar items. I like loads of the shoes in here, and have bought some on many occasions, they seem to stock different shoes than elsewhere, which is good as I like shops who look for something different to interest customers. The guys who run the shop are really friendly and as its a small shop, they don't have much trouble seeing to everyone quickly and efficiently. The prices are kind of on the high side, but i'm not one to complain about paying for quality.

Bensons are a second hand shop that sells just about anything you can image, my Husband call it an Aladdin's for boys. So you won't find ladies fashions, shoes and hands bags, it more like fishing equipment, DVD's, video games and consoles, house hold appliances and spares, Hoover's, TV's DVD players, Bric-a-brac.like I said you name it, they probably sell it. And with being second hand the prices are always worth a look. The only problem you may have is loosing your husband for several hours while he browses:)

There are some great bargains to be had as many of their lines are priced so competitively its actually quite hard not to buy some especially when you have a teenager with you!
