Updated Review Its been a while but came here today with the fam for ice scream of course. A lot of things have changed: The interior has been updated so thats a plus, they have kiosk now which give an easier and quicker way to order and pay The table games have been removed Prices increased and portions got smaller. We used to get 6 rolls of ice cream now we only get 5.
Incredible! Cute, nice, super-welcoming place -- I never saw such smiles greet me as I did tonight at this place! Also, soooo delicious! I had never heard of a croffle up until less than an hour ago -- and now I have eaten the most delightful crunchy-gooey, warm-and-creamy, whipped-cream-topped crumbled Oreo delight I had no idea was even possible! I was completely full when I got there, having just eaten a meal minutes before -- but when I saw this croffle thing, I just had to try it, and let me tell you it went down easy! I had no problem finishing it off, no matter my fullness .... Mmm! I also got a great-smelling, lusciously purple hot taro milk tea, and a couple of cookies for later .... Another first -- I'd never been to this shopping center at all before or knew it was there, so I guess that partially explains why I'd never heard of this place before but then again, even if I had, I would not think that a Thai ice cream place would be serving up this particularly Korean delicacy! (Okay, I just looked up the origin of the croffle and have found out it was invented in Ireland but popularized in and by South Korea.) Well, all I can say is: Wow! So good! Next thing I need to try there is the rolled-up ice cream coming in cups with other things, such as a couple of Pocky sticks .... There is quite a selection of toppings I did not get the chance to peruse -- yet! I did notice some sour straws and tape-shaped bubble gum at the counter .... The food and atmosphere are both great, the location is easy to reach and the parking was no problem (plus it's not too far from the Rockville Metro stop) -- but if you believe that 'people make a place' and service matters and makes all the difference, then the fantastic service here tops it all!
While in the area, I was in search of a place where I could get a good smoothie. I found Class 520 on Yelp and decided to stop by. I ordered a strawberry mango smoothie and my daughter ordered a Reese's ice cream roll with a roasted marshmallow and chocolate pocky on the side. I've seen rolled ice cream being made on TikTok before but seeing it in person was nice. It's like a true art to getting the rolls just right. My smoothie was delicious and had a delicate almost flowery taste. I can't put my finger on the actual taste but it was one of the best smoothies I've had in a while. My daughter's ice cream was really good too and the portion size was large. This is a nice shop and I would absolutely return, especially to get my own rolled ice cream this time.
Loved my second visit here with my hubby this time. I ordered the same thing again with different toppings-- the Strawberry Lady consisting of strawberry ice cream, whipped cream, marshmallows, and fresh strawberries. My husband got the Reese's Blast that had lots of chocolate and peanut flavors to it. Both items weren't overly sweet which I really appreciated. The order can be placed by using the touchscreen or by letting the cashier know. The price can be a bit extra except it's worth it. Our two ice cream orders came out shy of $16 but it comes with at least 3 free toppings of our choosing. The only gripe I have is parking. The lot in front of the store is perpetually full. It's best to park across the street if able.
It's pretty cool how you order on a big computer and they make your ice cream right in front of you . I picked the Oreo ice cream and my friend picked another flavor. it was extremely creamy and tasty. The place was getting busy as it was a Friday night. You have to go at least once to class 520 to experience homemade ice cream. You can sit inside or outside. It was a little dirty on the tables. I don't think the tables were cleaned off for a while.

This small family-owned shop is located near the Rockville Town Square. Known for their rolled ice cream, but also frequented for their Thai bubble teas. My girls have been dyinggggg to go here for years, but I kept putting it off for years. WHY DID I DO THAT?? I feel like I need to go again. Oops. I totally went back twice from the time I drafted my initial review. The shop itself is a typical size for an ice cream spot. There are about 5 tables and some countertop (2 tall high chairs) space to sit at. When walking in, you'll immediately see two machines to place your order facing you, some signage and the place where they make the magic to the right. It took us a minute to realize you have to use the machines to order (and then how to order). It's pretty simple. You can select from a variety of preset flavor combos, plus add three toppings and a drizzle; or you can pick a "plain" flavor and add your three toppings and a drizzle. The first time we went, the girls and I chose the "plain" - both girls had vanilla and I had coffee as the base. We each chose our own toppings. You can "upgrade" your cup to a Waffle bowl, as my eldest did, and/or add additional toppings like my youngest did. We were all super pleased with our selections. On the the second or third trip, I selected a "preset" s'mores galore combo. I learned that they don't necessarily put a bunch of "extra" toppings into the mix per se. Rather, they chopped up one graham cracker and give a few healthy squeezes of chocolate syrup. I should've made graham crackers one of my three toppings because I felt like I needed more to really achieve that s'mores flavor. I'll know for next time. Overall, the ice cream is really tasty and it's made pretty quickly. It's a bit on the pricey side (~$8 per ice cream), but i feel like I can justify the "splurge." Their gummy bears are really gummy butterflies (so cute!). And it's so cool to watch them make the rolled ice cream! Perfect place for this hot weather we've been experiencing.
We stumbled upon this place bc we went to the noodle place next door. This place has a self ordering/paying system which is handy. I was surprised to find a rolled ice cream place still around since that seemed trendy a few years ago but has died down since. My friend's complaint about this place is that they seem to nickel and dime you for certain "premium" toppings. It seemed in general like the toppings you do get are very sparse but I think that's kind of par for the course since the serving dish is fairly small too. Overall, we had a nice time here but I probably wouldn't make a trip just to come here.
This place has good ice creams. Whenever we are in the area having dinner, this is a definite stop. Parking is a little cramped here so the two times we parked at a nearby parking lot. Now they have an electronic ordering system and you choose your flavors. I took the mad mango and loved it.
Review from 2016 Came here when it first opened and the rolled ice cream was a novelty for the DMV region. One of my friends actually won the free ice cream for a year haha. First time experience is always fun to watch them pound out the cream and roll into the cup. They have a good number for ice cream flavors and a few toppings to choose from. At least back in 2016 it was quite good. Though I have tried rolled ice cream from other places that offered unlimited toppings so now they have more competition.
Class 520 opened a few years ago, when rolled ice cream became an overnight sensation. It's been years since I last went, and going back reminded me why: their ice cream prices are steep! My friend and I split one of their specialty rolled ice creams for $8. While it was tasty, I could get more for my buck at two other places just across in Rockville Town Center. Overall, 520 has a variety of cute drinks and desserts...it's just a little out dated.
Had to go here because this was on my list of "go to places" this summer. I'm a sugar feen so this place I was extremely excited to go to. Driving to this place I was worried about parking because any location in Rockville now? It's hit or miss with parking availability but since this location is in a mini shopping lot, there was a good amount of spots open. Customer service was good! The staff was nice and accommodating. It was cool seeing them make the Ice cream in front of you but I'm not going to lie $7.02 for a cup is a little pricey but it was good. We did the s'mores ice cream with vanilla instead of the chocolate and we did Oreo/graham cracker/chocolate syrup and it good! I also god the Thai bobba tea and I really enjoyed that also the strawberry lemonade tasted like a skittle!!! I liked the strawberry lemonade the best!! But their drinks are really good! They give you a drink reward card too. If you buy 7 drinks you get one free! Super cool. The seating part is open and the only thing I didn't like is they had sporks and no spoons. Not a deal breaker haha!
This place was pretty good, but not something I would rush back for. Service was fine. The ordering process is computerized and takes a few minutes which could be annoying when it's busy. Ice cream was fine. A fun novelty.

The fad of having Thai Rolled Ice Cream. It is really courageous that someone opened up a shop in Rockville. It is a bit off from the Town Center, but I can definitely go there by foot. When it is super cold out..... less so. The inside is fairly large, but it can be busy so it takes a while. I view this place as the Hibachi of Ice Cream. What I am paying for is basically the performance of making my ice cream just like I am paying for the performance of Hibachi Japanese cuisine. After that, the ice cream is just normal. It certainly is in a rolled form and it is fun to take pictures of, but the taste is just okay. It reminds me of Cold Stones where you can just watch them mix your ice cream, but the extra step is to chop it up and roll it up. I am just glad it was not overly sweet, but again, the actual flavor was a bit lacking. Would I go here again? If my friends want to go. Would I personally drive here alone to get it? Maybe, if I crave it enough. Is it an everyday thing? No. Is it a place to go to sit and have a chat? Maybe if it is not too busy and crowded. Do they have cool chairs? yes, the hand chair is my favorite and I will wait for that chair to open up. read more

When you walk in, you're hit with very strong odor. Not sure what it is or where it comes from, but it sticks with you for a bit and then eventually you become immune to it. I would definitely recommend the owners figuring out the cause of the smell, and getting some type of air freshener to try to mask it. The smell almost deterred me from eating at this place because it was so strong! Other than getting put off by the smell, I really didn't see anything else wrong with the place. We tried the super green giant and added oreos, strawberries, chocolate sauce, and green tea pocky. I haven't had rolled ice cream before, so I dont have a baseline to judge from, but I enjoyed the combination we got. Price per ice cream cup is $6.89, which may seem high, but you get more than enough to share. Most ice cream shops in general costs $4-7 dollars per cup and toppings anyways. The cup includes the rolled ice cream of your choice plus 3 toppings and any sauce you want on top. read more
It's a really cool place and interesting to try. But once you try it, you would then realize it's more hype and trendy than anything. It may or may not be your thing. The taste isn't spectacular not unique. It's almost if you mix a frozen yogurt place with an ice cream place but instead you have someone personally rolling it in front of your eyes. A trendy place for an entertainingly, sweet treat. Whenever I come I have to flip a coin to choose between their Oreo's Secret and Morning Latte. They have their toppings in behind the counter so if you're vertically challenged, like me, you might struggle seeing them. I've not yet tried their bubble tea, but heard from some friends that it is pretty sweet. At the end it's kind of pricy for the amount of ice cream, but if you're into all of those rolled ice cream videos on social media this would be your place! read more
First, review of the ice cream - pretty good! Just takes a really long time to make and wait for it. I guess it's because of the hype since they just opened. But well worth the wait. However, I ordered the Smores Galore and it says graham, chocolate, marsh(mallows) underneath it. Not sure if they were supposed to add it or it's a suggestion to add it. They should explain that a little more next time to all the noobs (including myself). But it's ok. It's still their opening and they can always make adjustments. Parking kinda sucks. Small parking lot, but free. Overall, good experience that's pretty much hyped. read more
This is a nice treat for the kids on a non-busy day. It's $6.50 to watch your creation made which is interesting to see and nicely presented. In the end, I don't think it tastes that different from any other ice cream, but it's a cool novelty. Service was friendly and as there was no line when we were there, I didn't think it took long to create at all. I got the Latte and didn't think it tasted like coffee or cookie, but the crushed up cookie gave the cream a nice texture. My son got the Oreo and he was just happy it had M&Ms on top. I was really, really satisfied with the taste of my icecream. It hit the spot for the craving I had. I had the strawberry lady (vanilla ice + strawberry + graham cracker) and for my 3 toppings I chose strawberries, blueberries, and frutti pebbles and for my drizzle I chose condensed milk. I rated this place a 4/5 because 1) it was kind of hot in this store 2) $7.25 for icecream is A LOT (+80¢ for waffle cone) like that's a chipotle 3) it took awhile to be greeted at the register (or just acknowledged as a customer at all) 4) it didn't seem like anyone was cleaning the store like all tables were self clean and the atmosphere felt lackluster read more
They offer the BEST ice cream in town! A friend introduce me to Thai ice cream about a year and half ago and that changed my life. This ice cream is so delicious and soft. Super tasty! Customer service has always been amazing. I typically get strawberry lady or mad mango with condensed milk into the mixture. With strawberries, mango and more condensed milk on top. It's soooo delicious that now other ice cream isn't the same. They are taking necessary precautions now during the pandemic. Typically go 30 minutes to an hour before closing and their not busy. Family loves it too now! We want to go every week but go about every two weeks. Try it!! read more

I wasn't impressed with my black milk lightbulb bubble tea-it seemed overpriced for the size of it and was overly milky. Also, the boba wasn't subtly flavored and wasn't chewy enough in my opinion. However, the employees were friendly and the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. I'd probably come back to try their rolled ice cream. Hopefully after my next trip to class 520 they can wow me more than their overpriced bubble tea (the lightbulb cup definitely makes for cute pictures though). read more

After seeing tons of reviews on Yelp for this place, I decided to try out the rolled ice cream and it definitely lived up to the hype. I got the #6 which was matcha with strawberry. After you get your flavors, you can pick three different toppings--I chose Crushed Oreos, pocky sticks and whipped cream. Very good, would definitely recommend for the warm days we are experiencing in the DMV. read more
Rainbow Roll (5 NOMs) Every unique would be happy for a rainbow in every bite when noming on the sweetness of Rainbow Roll at this magical place. They sure know their rainbow, it's full of sparkles and tasty things. As a gay foodie, there is no reason not to try it. It might just make you extra happy. Why not when it comes with fruity pebbles, sprinkles as any respected rainbow must, and honey. You know honey is good for you so this is kind of healthy-ish, not really, but sometimes we got to lie to our brain so tummy can be happy ;). So much sugary goodness, our taste buds were jumping with sparkling excitement. Great and refreshing way to stay cool on these hot summer days. Mad Mango (4 NOMs) Unleash the hulk of sugar madness with Mad Mango. It's so mad you might just want to smash, mostly smash by eating more stir-fry ice cream. After all why not when its mango goodness. This is one of those fruity desserts with mango and strawberries together even though since mango is so mad you really mostly taste that. more mango than madness, but all is good since we are such big fans of this dessert. With main ingredients being fruit it's a very light and not too sugar ice cream. We are sugar lovers and would need a bit more, but it's perfect for those who prefer lighter and don't want sugar coma. Though we just had to add some extra toppings and asked for sprinkles. Smores Galore Roll (5 NOMs) There hasn't been a better way to enjoy smores like this Smores Galore Roll ice cream from Class 520. Stir-fry ice cream is truly amazing where anything can be turned into it. Here we are enjoying this traditional American campfire snack in a whole new way. Probably a way better way too! Can't have smores without gram crackers and chocolate. Well, here they are all crashed and mixed in together with the ice cream to create the roll. Plus on top, we get some toasted marshmallows. The sweetness doesn't end there since we still get to add some toppings. For our 3 topping pick, we went for gram crackers for that extra crunch, chocolate, and M&Ms, because you can never have enough chocolate. OMG, it tasted so good. This is by far one of our favorite orders here. Oreo's Secret Roll (5 NOMs) In words of drag queen superstar Alyssa Edwards, these ores have a secret, it's tasty and rolled Oreo's Secret at Class 520. What is the secret you ask? Honestly, we have no idea! However, whatever it might be, it tastes amazing. It has everything you love about Oreos but in an ice cream roll form. The oreo cookie is crushed and mixed together with the milk on a frozen stone to create the rolls. Then we added some rainbow sprinkles, strawberries, and chocolate on top because we are sugar lovers like that. They only add one oreo cookie into the ice cream and it just the right amount so you can still taste the rest of the toppings. read more

My friend and I ordered their Red Sun rolled ice cream and their Pharah (taro and almond) light bulb drink. We were waiting on the bench next to the window to watch the employees make/roll the ice cream. We saw ours get made which was intriguing and we were excited to eat it! When they finished making it, they were confused on what order number to call. It was labeled on the cup.. but for some reason they were confused. So it took us a good five minutes for us to actually get the ice cream. Then halfway through eating the ice cream (which was delicious btw.. but kinda melted since we didn't get it right after it was made), we noticed that we never received our drink. After we finished the ice cream, I went up to the counter and asked where our drink was and showed them the receipt. The girl took the receipt and clipped it onto their receipt shelf thing and started making our drink. No apology or anything. We tasted the drink and it was was like super sweet and powdery :(. If I do come back, I'd want to try their fruit teas and pay extra for a light bulb cup. Super disorganized. read more
I definitely do not agree with some reviews saying the ice cream lacked flavor! I ordered the key lime pie and it was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. They squeeze fresh lime juice into the ice cream before chopping it all up. Besides the off-setting smell when you first walk in, this ice cream is delicious. Also appreciated the jenga!! read more

I am all about trendy foods, snapping pics, and sharing experiences with the world! So when videos of rolled ice cream kept popping up on my Insta feed, I kept an eye out for a place to try it at. I don't live in the area, but was passing through Rockville with a coworker who suggested we make a stop - and I'm really glad we did! I tried the Strawberry Lady (super creamy) and he got the Green Super Giant (matcha flavor). Both were delicious! You get to add three toppings as well as a drizzle of your choice to compliment whichever base you choose. The service was great, staff was polite, but the seating is limited as other reviews have stated. My only wish is that they had a few more toppings to choose from like brownies or cheesecake bites! Also keep in mind it's not cheap ($7+ per cup). All in all though, if you're looking to try the latest trend of rolled ice cream, this is a pretty solid stop to add to your foodie list! read more

I came here with a friend on a Friday night after dinner. It was pretty busy but the line wasn't too long and you can keep yourself busy by watching them make it. They also have several tables and games where you can hang out and eat your ice cream. I'm giving it 3 stars because I think my ice cream wasn't as flavorful. I ordered the matcha and strawberry ice cream and I think it really lacked flavor. It was bland and although I added fresh strawberries and chocolate syrup in top, the ice cream was still not very enjoyable. I don't think I'd comeback here and spend another $7 for lackluster ice cream. The concept is new to this area, and I think that's why it's busy, but overall, I don't think it's worth coming back. read more

Their rolled ice cream is always a nice switch up from generic ice cream brands. I recently tried their thai ice tea with high hopes, but I really had to use my imagination to taste the thai tea flavor. They have excellent safety precautions regarding corona. read more
Kid tested, parents approved! I brought my mom here to taste the Thai ice cream. She loved how it's made and the consistency of the ice cream that she took my dad here too!! This is place is very family friendly. Both the Oreo and s'mores galore were delicious! read more
Came with a few friends on the second week it was open. There was a line but we were told it was not as long as the opening weekend. The ice cream was nothing like the rolled ice cream I've had before. The line of waiting/getting your ice cream was poorly designed and customers don't know where to go and stand while waiting. The staff was working hard but they were probably still trying to get a hang of the process of rolling ice cream while handling a crowd at the same time. Presentation was somewhat cute, can be IG worthy, but none of us ever went back again, especially when a better rolled ice cream shop was open near DuPont Circle a few months after. read more
First roll ice cream place opens in Northern Virginia. I've heard they have open several places in NYC but this place is smiler to the one in GA that i visited several months ago. We came on sunday around 3pm ish, awkward time so luckily the place is empty for us to order each of us one. The price is around 6 dollars for one and they will make the ice cream in front of you. There were only two people working so the lines can get crazy long if you come during rush hours. I ordered the oreo ice cream and oh boy it was so good. You can add up two two toppings (they might change so double check on that). They do not have mochi as topping (FYI). read more
Once again my sister beat me in trying and reviewing this new place... After seeing my sister's pictures on FB, I knew I was going to have to try this out. All I knew is that there was an anti-griddle to turn liquid into ice cream. Yum! My friend and I walked in about 30 minutes to closing on a weekday. Two young girls had just sat down to eat their delicious looking creations. Three flat metal surfaces closest to the door. Many plastic compartments filled with fruit, nuts, cookies and even Pocky. A large chalkboard sign hanging on the wall with different names screaming out at you...Monkey Business...Key Lime Pie...Oreos...Nilla Wafers...Strawberry...Green Giant...Smores...Morning Latte...all with descriptions. No customers in front of us and at least five young people behind the counter. A friendly looking young lady behind the register. I confidently walk up to her and tell her that I had no idea what I was doing. She chuckled and agreed to explain things despite my being on a different pokemon team from her (yes, I was walking and catching pokemon and had my game open). I was to choose one of the flavor combinations and then I could choose up to three toppings...all for about $7. Too many choices so we had to try two different flavors. Key Lime with coconut, sliced almonds and extra graham crackers & Monkey Business with coconut, sliced bananas and strawberries. You owe it to yourself to go and try this place. The young kids have a good time putting on a show for you. They chop the extra flavors into tiny pieces before they pour the flavored cream onto the anti-griddle. Then there is much smooshing (technical term) and smearing to encourage the liquid to firm before they scrape into little logs. If you remember wood lathing from high school shop class, it looks exactly like the scraps along the floor! The flavors were fresh and distinct. The show was entertaining. Even though you could watch the youtube video, it is worth the trip to see it in person. At least once. Find some toddlers to take with you as they will be enthralled and make the cost worthwhile. read more

Amazing place to just hang out and chill. The employees are all nice and enjoyable to talk to. If you come on a weekday before 6-8, you can avoid the rush and get yourself an Icecream without waiting over 15 minutes. The way they make the ice cream is also an experience in its own. They pour and mix the ingredients in and freeze the ice cream over a cold grill, then roll it into 5-6 rolls. Some people say the ice cream is expensive, but that's ridiculous. The ice cream is made RIGHT in front of you! Some ice cream places change you 7-8$ for 2 scoops. Scoops! My personal favorite is the Green super giant (#6) which comes with strawberries sautéed in with a matcha base, its great for someone who doesn't like sweets all that much. read more

We ordered the strawberry lady and the morning latte. Both were delicious. The incorporation of fresh fruits and ingredients gives this kind of ice cream a superior taste. The best part is you get to see your ice cream being made start to finish. Do give this place a try. read more
This place is ridiculously expensive, especially for such little ice cream (~$7). However, I am very excited about finally having a Thai ice cream roll shop in Rockville. I got the Strawberry Lady with my friend, it has strawberries and graham crackers. It was pretty delicious and it has a cool texture. We added oreo, pocky and whipped cream. I think for the price that we paid, they should've added more than one oreo or more toppings. With the price and amount of ice cream we get, I wouldn't make a special trip back. Since this just opened up over the weekend, i was pretty glad I waited a couple of days before making the trip over. The wait to order wasn't long, but there were only 3 stations making the ice cream rolls. I think it took about 10-15 minutes to get our ice cream even though it wasn't busy. Also, if you're driving it has a VERY small parking lot. I would advise parking across the street where the hair salon is. read more
