They do a great job with our dogs here. The front desk sometimes gets things mixed up (appt times, hair length, etc) but honestly that could be as much our fault as theirs. They are always super accommodating if we bring our dogs in and they don't have them on the schedule. We'll usually drop our dogs off on Saturday morning around 9:30 am and pick them up around 4 or 5 pm. I think they just stay in a crate the whole day, but the groomers said they take them out to let them pee. And our dogs don't seem traumatized by it or anything. I took my cat to be groomed for the first time today. I feel the experience went really well, and I am very happy with the fur trim the little guy got. First off, I want to say I really appreciated that the groomer let me stick around to make sure my cat felt safe having me around. I got to hold him which made the experience easier for him I feel. The lady that groomed him was very nice, and did a great job. She really took her time to do it right, she did not rush it, and gave him a nice bath as well. Well, after reading the reviews I still decided to take my cat Crumbles in for a bath/lion cut. I would say with first appearance, this house had a collection of animal toys, animal statues, and other knick knacks to look at when you first get into the house which may seem overwhelming for a lot of people. I found it to be unique and charming! The cigarette smell was a little strange since it's not something you smell when you walk into a business. Kelly got the groomer to discuss with me exactly what kind of lion cut I wanted and Dillion gave back Crumbles exactly how I imagined! When I came to pick her up all the other animals in there looked pretty happy and looking very stylish with their cute cuts and bandanas! Dropped him off at 1230, he was ready at 4 when I called. They didn't call me to say he was ready, but no biggy. I don't know how much grooming runs here normally, but $65 seemed a tad high - but they did a really good job - Flash is so soft women want to make pillows out of him. Why don't I get those kinda offers huh? ;) I'll probably try another place next time in the unlikely event I plan ahead, but I'll certainly take him again if I needed to. If I could give these people ZERO stars, I would. My initial experience was fine - smelled like a groomers, but was decently clean. I dropped Dexter off around 10am and informed them I was in no rush and could pick him up at 6pm (end of day). I filled out the intake form and left instructions regarding my preferences for his cut - nothing too extravagant - poodle socks, poodle collar, and leaving his pompom big. When I arrived at 5:50p to pick up Dexter, he wasn't ready and they informed me that it would be another 30 minutes or so. I was a little irritated that I had to wait, considering I dropped him off with sufficient time to be groomed. When then brought him out at 6:40, Dexter's huge pompom was gone (short pompom) and no poodle collar. I was internally disappointed and she apologized, but I knew getting upset wouldn't solve anything, so I let it go. A little back story - Dexter just moved in with me less than a week prior to his grooming and hasn't had any interaction with other dogs. I wake up Sunday morning (next day) scratching all over my body, particularly my back and legs. I have bite marks ALL over! I immediately check Dexter and sure enough, he has fleas. Not just one or two, but more than 10!!! I called Classic Groomers, they told me they would give him a COMPLIMENTARY flea bath and blow out. When I arrived, the lady (a robust woman) informed me that they had two cats INFESTED with fleas the day before, so this would be FREE --- I was really polite, but couldn't believe what I heard! I've had Dexter for seven years and he has had fleas ONCE! We just moved into this apartment the week before, so this was the only place he could have gotten them from. I have never had fleas in my house and was instructed to bug bomb my house and wash all clothes and linens he has access to. I went out and bought bug bomb (which I had to vacate my apartment for 4 hours!). When I finally picked up Dexter, I expressed that they SHOULD HAVE disclosed when I picked Dexter up, that fleas were found on other animals. This cost me money in bug bombing, driving, laundry (3 large loads) and time to rectify, NOT TO MENTION being miserable from all the bites. To add insult to injury, one of the women tried to explain that they didn't know until 5:30p, but I picked Dexter up at 6:40. When I left on Sunday evening, I wasn't offered a refund, discount, or even credit for future grooming. THEY HAD AUDACITY TO CASH MY $80 CHECK!!!! This is a reflection of POOR customer service and retention. I WILL NEVER SUBJECT DEXTER OR MYSELF TO SUCH RUTHLESS PEOPLE. I hope they see this post. read more

Horrible professionalism!!! Karen, (or is it carin'??....I think NOT!!) laughed when I voiced my concern on a very sensitive matter with my pet. I think, and hope, that once she realized that this only upset me more, she acknowledged that the pet was my "baby" to a co-worker (with some sarcasm of course) and attempted to calm the situation by ensuring me the pet was in good hands. In addition, they quoted me one price over the phone and when I arrived gave me a lower quote and then once I picked up my pet, charged me more than the original quote. WTF??? I called over and over again during a 30 minute period and the phone was busy (what no call waiting or second line?). Then I called and finally got a ring signal. The phone rang and rang and rang and finally after 8 minutes of non stop ringing a young man answered with a plain, "hello". This young man didn't even identify the name of the business. He didn't have much information on what it would cost to groom a Japanese Chin. He told me that I could talk to the owner. He then handed the phone to the owner, Connie. Connie gave me pricing. She also gave me a cost of $12 for pick up or drop off, that's $12 each way with within the same city about 1.5 miles from the Classic Pet Grooming home based business. When I asked how long an appointment would take if I made one I heard a click and then I heard the disconnected signal. This was not a dropped cell call, it was a signal from a LAN line to LAN hang up. I call back and once again the phone rang and rang and rang with no answer. After 5 minutes of non stop ringing I finally hung up. So far my experience is not very good. They do have pick up and drop off if you want to pay the high price. Makes me wonder if the grooming service is as bad as their office service. Who know? I doubt I'll try them. read more

Bottom line- MY DOG GOT SEVERE FLEAS HERE. Upon reading the mixed reviews, I really thought any negative reviews were for decor reasons. I assumed that as long as my dog were happy and comfortable, he wouldn't really care about the design of the actual space. WRONG. When I arrived with my dog around 3PM (granted, it was a same day appointment as Beaugay books a few weeks out and he looked so hot and uncomfortable, kudos for same day) I asked 1. When he would be ready for pick up and 2. An estimated cost of the service. Having had moved from Manhattan 3 days prior, I had experienced many grooming cost surprises, so it never hurts to ask. The woman responded that it would be $75, unless he needs a flea bath. I asked what she was talking about, as my dog had not been itching at all and she hadn't even looked at him or any sort of itching... "flea bath is $10 extra if he needs it." She then mentioned something about a cat having so many fleas that after a flea bath 20 more fleas were jumping off. I ASSUMED this was in reference to a cat in the past, not a situation a day or two prior. When I picked him up, his cut looked GREAT, but when I asked what the total was, two strange things happened. 1. The receptionist directed me to a sign that said "Why Dog Grooming is More Expensive than a people doctor appointment," or something to that extent. It went on to detail things like "dogs scratch, dogs can't talk" etc. Etc. Listen, I could care less about the coat of this haircut, I understand market rates. Coming from NYC I am suspicious of a groomer under $50, but this made it seem like this "flea bath" was just a strange way to squeeze $10 more out of the visit. 2. Strange thing that happened- the actual groomer mentioned he had a flea bath and said "honey, I'm sorry, HE HAD FLEAS." I thought this was just a scam to make me pay for a flea bath, UNTIL I SAW 3 FLEAS ON HIM THAT EVENING!! He was dying of itching that night, and there is ABSOLUTELY no way he had fleas before we entered this groomer. No matter what their excuse is, NO GROOMER SHOULD OPERATE IF THEY ARE INFESTED. read more

I could not be any happier! Andrew and Angel came to my house to groom my scared-y cat and they did a really great job in all areas. They have a mobile grooming van/truck that allows them to do it all! Andrew was so nice and definitely knows what he is doing - and even though I can imagine how out of control the cat was once the doors were closed, he did exactly what I wanted! First of all, I cannot fathom anyone complaining about Karen. She is absolutely the best and her customer service is impeccable. She always has the best interest of my maltipoo in her heart. She has called me twice to find out how my little maltipoo was doing because she had a boo-boo and Karen was very concerned about it. They do awesome work at Classic and I love all of the staff. I can't begin to understand why several posters gave Classic such low ratings (and I wont even try) I will just tell you about my experience. Classic does operate out of their home, however the entire (roomy) garage has been completely transformed into a grooming area. I dont mean they set aside a table and use a water hose, I mean completely transformed with great equipment! I have been using their services for the last 3 years and have had nothing but absolutely great customer service and cuts for my dog King (maltipoo). The groomers are very knowledgable about products, and they always get it right the first time. (and even if they dont, I'm absolutely sure they would be willing to correct whatever it is). They have been grooming him since he was a puppy, and they have always done an awesomely, fabulous job. I tried a few other places after moving out of the city, and just gave up because no other service paralled the customer service and grooming that I received here. If you are looking for a consistent groomer that makes your baby look and feel good, then Classic is the place to go. If I moved to another state, I would still bring my King back to Classic ( well maybe thats an exxageration, but I would surely try) I travel all the way from Pittsburg to Palo Alto- need I say more? I don't know how anyone can give this place anything but 5 stars. My dog has extreme anxiety and cant'e handle event being brushed at home, she will growl at you and start dry heaving, so you can only imagine that a haircut is a big no no. My mom used a mobile dog haircut service before where two strong men put a nozzle on her and cut her unevenly so I was just expecting the same thing. However, Classic Pet Grooming has a special approach to pets like mine and they took her in for 6 hours. Yes, I've read other reviews that this place takes a while, but that is the whole strategy. It is essential for your pet especially if they are a nervous pet to watch other dogs get a haircut and get acclimated. I had an entire Saturday dog free and was able to run all my errands. When I got a call back I was amazed that my dog had behaved well and even liked getting her nails done :)) I have NEVER EVER imagined that someone could give her a makeover and for my dog to remain calm. So yes this place is the BEST ever and I will only take my dog there every time, but you need to know that if you DO that your dog there (which you should) that they may take the whole day but that is to make sure your pet is comfortable. read more

I arrived overhours after I brought my dog in for a grooming. They hadn't started cutting his hair because they said I had left no instructions. However my dog had been trimmed there twice before and I saw a card where I had previously provided guidance. The next 45 minutes they did a rushed cut that was done unevenly and they also nicked my dogs leg. I will not return here in the future. Our older kitty had a very traumatic experience with Classic Pet Grooming and as a result ended up in the hospital and had to get 6 stitches. The Vet was very unhappy with the way the groomer used skin glue to hold the cut together and as a result had to perform surgery to close the wound. Our kitty was unable to walk with his back legs after the trauma and suffered tremendously. Not only was our cat harmed, the grooming job was terrible. Yes, as an older kitty he was more difficult to groom and more fragile, but the groomers should have taken more precautions or refused to groom him at all. The groomer showed up 1.5 hours late and had a very unprofessional appearance. They ended up paying the Vet bill, but went ahead and cashed the check for the grooming services... not impressed. read more

We used to use Aussie Pet Mobile to groom our elderly, blind long-haired cat Meisha. A wonderful groomer named Denise was our regular person. However, when we called to get Meisha cut (shaved into a lion cut actually) before the holidays we discovered that Aussie Pet was no more...at least not in our area. Bummed out that Denise was no longer to be found, we went looking for a new groomer and somehow came across Classic. My husband made the appointment but when we found out it would cost $30 more than Aussie charged for the mobile services, we decided just to go to their "salon" instead. At least that way I could check out the new groomer and make sure they understood that our cat was very old, blind and arthritic. Long story short, I went there today with Meisha and after being totally creeped out by the place, just decided to leave - as fast as I could get out of there. What were the issues? An angry looking man in the garage looking out at me like I'd interrupted something he was doing that he'd prefer no one saw. No one in house when I came in to greet me, even after I said "knock knock...knock knock" several times and could hear someone talking in the back and knew that the frowning guy in the garage saw me pull up in the driveway. A giant pale live fish at the front that was so huge that it didn't have room to go one body length or turn around in the tank. That didn't seem very pet friendly -- in fact it seemed like fish hell. The place also smelled like smoke and was full of stuff everywhere like some episode of "Horders" could be filmed there next season. An ancient, rather out of it, woman finally heard me and came up front and acted surprised I was there and more surprised when I said I had an appointment at 2 pm which she couldn't find in the book, but then said..."oh yeah, January 3rd...Meisha." Already thinking this place was a big mistake, I asked if they shaved cats, she said she did, but didn't even look me in the eye when she said it. I told her that my cat was very old and I was worried about leaving him with someone inexperienced. The thought of that creepy guy in the garage was making me really uncomfortable now and I guess she could sense that I wasn't too happy with what I was seeing or hearing because she said, rather reluctantly, "well, you can stay with him, if you want..." again, not once looking me in the eye and not even looking at the cage where my cat was. At this point I said, "you know what, I'm not comfortable with this" and turned to leave. That got her animated for the first time and she practically shouted, "But we do cats all the time." As I was walking out the door I said "That's fine, but I'm just not comfortable". She followed me out the door and into the driveway saying something about how they know what they're doing and to come back - to which I just said, "I'm sorry, but this place is really sketchy and I don't trust you with my cat" and just left. As I drove off I could see in the garage windows that the creepy guy was still there staring back at me. Shivers! Over the years, I've learned to trust my gut and I am so glad I left this afternoon after my encounter with "Classic" Pet Grooming, more so now after reading these reviews about pets being injured and traumatized. If anyone knows where Denise from Aussie Pet Mobile went or knows someone good to get a cat shaved into a lion cut, message me because Meisha's all matted up and I need to find someplace good with cats. read more

Maureen is so awesome. She takes so much time and is so kind. Our dog is so beautiful. We use them on the special needs groomin day.

We have usedthe Mobile Pet grooming service about 3 times. Each time they have been a minimum of 1.5 hours late. This last time They came to groom our 2 Balinese cats. Our appointment was at 11:00 AM and they showed up after 1:00 PM Additionally the previous 3 times they charged us $170 total including flea baths. THe guy that came this time charged us $250. Also my female kitten's eye is completely wounded. Something occurred during the grooming to mess up her left eye which she can barely open and which looks horrible. Since she came back from the grooming truck she has not moved or eaten. We will never use Classic Pet grooming again. They do not care if they are late and since they are always late they are in a rush and do not do a good job. Also they have hurt my poor kitten. If someone is two hours late they should atleast offer some sort of discount, or call. They don't even call to tell you that they need you to wait the entire afternoon for them. read more

This is a difficult review to write because while their grooming is done fairly well, their customer service and tact are horrible. Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that they're located in my neighborhood and often have last minute appointments available, I would have left years ago. Wait....I did leave years ago. At that point it was because they quoted me one price and charged me $25 more when I came to pick up my dog without letting me know. Unknowingly, I came with cash and no other means of payment. So, even though they were stuck with the bill, I was stuck without a groomer. Having gone to a subpar groomer for a year, I returned with apparent amnesia. I was willing to look past the customer service for the grooming and convenience factor, but no longer! Again, for the 4th time, they didn't call to let me know the dog was ready to be picked up. My dog was there for 8 hours without a phone call that he was ready. When I just showed up they said he was just finished. Eight hours later? Really? Then, when I arrived they wanted to charge me more telling me it was because the dog was matted. HE WAS NOT!! I made sure and checked before sending him there again. Frankly, I'm tired of them trying to charge me extra for something that didn't need to be done and without my permission. Warning: They will not answer the phone and when they do, they're not nice. They'll charge you for things your animal doesn't need and will not request permission first. I suspect they don't allow the dogs much water since mine always comes home parched. read more

I have just had my mobile appointment rescheduled by Connie - 2 hours before her groomers were due at my home and 5 hours after they called to reconfirm their arrival time with me. This is my first experience with mobile groomers. So far, this has been a very poor experience and the attitude from Connie is "oh well." What Connie does not realize is that her reason for reschedling me was loud and clear - as a new customer I am not important to her - and she does not need my business. She is sending her groomers "out of territory" to SF instead of to my home that is in her territory - why? I have no idea. I have three dogs and am looking for a groomer on a regular schedule. This is my week off work on "corporate shut down" and I scheduled today and tomorrow around THE DAY AND TIME SHE SAID SHE COULD PROVIDE THE SERVICE I AM PAYING FOR. She has put me between a rock and a hardplace. I have accepted the reschedule because it would be impossible to get anyone else out to groom my dogs this week - and they need grooming. However, Connie has lost my trust and I will not use her services again. read more

My family has been using Classic Pet Grooming since they were located in Mountain View years ago. While yes, they are not "cheap", their prices are competitive, I think, and they do a very good job (I recommend Dellon-she does a wonderful job every time). One huge thing that stands out to me is how much they care about each animal. Don't forget, they have doggie/kitty boarding and day-care, which I have used on occasion. Once, in an emergency for 3 weeks. They also have done day visits for a week at my home while I went on vacation, and my cats were clearly well cared for (my dog stayed with them during that time). It is not a Kennel, where the dogs are locked in tiny rooms, I arrive each time to find Pepe happily playing king of the house (he is a Pomeranian/Chihuahua) in Connie's kitchen. So, what I'm trying to say is: yes I give Connie & Classic Pet Grooming (and boarding) 5 stars for how well my pets (and I) have been treated for well over a decade. read more

Molly and Lilly love when Classic Pet Grooming comes out to give them a spa day. When we first started Molly was so scared (as she had never been groomed before) and now when the van pulls up she gets so excited she starts jumping and barking until the groomer comes in to get one of the dogs. It takes about 2 1/2 hrs to groom both dogs and they always look awesome and are so soft when done. They use natural products for my pets sensitive skin. The cost is fair and comparative to other shops. I wouldn't think of using anyone else to groom the dogs as well as my cats (which is a bath and good brush out). read more

Everyone here is very nice and friendly. The place is dedicated to pets, and it's clear they love pets here. I'm amazed the groomers here were willing and able to deal with my grumpy male cat today. He needed a lion cut to get rid of the mats that had accumulated in his long hair this summer. Somehow, they got him shaved, and managed to accomplish the task without getting bit or scratched. Although they did give him the well deserved nickname "Kujo"in the process! He was not happy when I came to pick him up, but now that he's home and calmed down now, he's much more comfortable without the mats. I have gone there many times over the years and successfully used the mobile grooming- so it pains me to write this. After dropping my dog off in the morning, she was supposed to be ready around 1:00PM. But she was not. I was generously offed to have her brought to my house. How nice! Since I had an engagement when I needed to leave around 3:00 I said OK. My son was home to receive her until 6:00 when he had to leave. AFTER 7:00pm they brought my dog home and I needed to leave the door open so she could be dropped off. This was a terrible experience and I will not be back. read more
