Oftentimes, they will have the letter of explanation ready while I'm driving to their office. They understand that time is money. In our opinion, there were a number of things he overlooked/missed in assessing the original situation and in the construction plans - all of which caused a substantial increase in costs for us. We found him to be very uninvolved in monitoring the actual construction process or reviewing the progress. To the best of our knowledge, he only visited the site twice during construction (and sought payment both times). On one occasion, he sent his teenage son to visit and take pictures. On a personal level, we found him difficult to reach and when we did reach him he was very opinionated and difficult to deal with. Overall, we do not feel we got what we bargained for and do not recommend him to others.
