My wife downloaded from their web site advertised homes at 60,000 on Friday, we drove down on Saturday, a four hour drive and met with a salesman who stated no knowledge of any trailers available for that price, we showed the advertising from their web site and was told they didn't have the model for that price on lot and would have to get permission from the General Manager to order one for the price advertized to which we were told they couldn't. They tried to sell us a trailer equal to what we wanted but at at a 10,000 more in price. This is simply a bait and switch operation to get you on site and sell something for more money. False advertising. Beware folks, read the reviews. Ended up going to Wilmington NC, to shop at Oakwood Homes. A wasted trip going to Clayton Homes. read more

Our nightmare started with Clayton Homes in Shallotte, NC in 2014. Our salesperson was "Judy". The nicest thing I can say about her is that she is a liar and a thief. One lie after another, delay after delay. Finally, we moved in the summer of 2016. Many things are not finished. We paid for upgrades we did not get. This was to be our retirement home. Daughter went there to purchase a home for about 190,000. Was approved for 110,000. I guess Rich at Clayton homes decided she wasn't going to get a mortgage because he never turned in the check for the pert test. Plus told her to her face that she needed to lower her expectations. What the guy didn't realize Was that Mom was going to make up the difference. He was rude and now he lost the sale. See ya! i'm beyond upset with the service i received. ive gone to this company multiple times and nobody could give me a straight answer and on top of that the homes aren't up to par with the prices they are trying to give. there was only one person there and you can just tell that he had no clue on what he was talking about. if you are smart take your business elsewhere. read more

My mother and father bought their retirement home from these LIARS about 2 years ago. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! They promise to make repairs that they NEVER make! We have windows without screens, doors that do not hang correctly, cabinets that are falling about, vents in the roof that are leaking... and the list goes on and on. Even the appliances they installed in the house broke or quit working altogether within the first six months. Many promises were made to come out and do the repairs needed. Many times someone would show up to "take notes" as to what needed to be done, and then no one would come back to make the actual repairs. This company is awful! These people are just payed LIARS. You would have more luck with a used care salesman!!! So much for my parent's retirement home at the beach. They never made a deadline in the actual building of their home and now every inch of it is falling apart. Save yourself the unending hassle! Never buy from Clayton homes. They will be so nice and promise you the moon to lure you in, and then the NIGHTMARE begins! read more
