To make a woefully long story short, I was up atop the foredeck of my boat adrift in a no wake zone while I attended to some docking lines and fenders. Without me noting it, a four outboard engine center console with one of those outboard cowboys behind the helm went by throwing a huge wake. The wake hit my boat causing me to fall. In breaking my fall I completely tore the main ligament of my rotator cuff. Ugh! As those things once torn don't heal without surgical intervention I knew I was in for big problems. Once torn off they remain torn off forever which with me, caused me to lose at least 80% of the use of my right arm. I couldn't even pick up my cocktail glass....which for me is really a serious matter...having to suck a martini through a straw is just plain icky. So, I had the surgery but of course that isn't the end of the ordeal. In order to regain use, you must undergo rehabilitative therapy and to fully recover, at least for me well into my 70's, takes a full year. After surgery at Holy Cross I thought I could go to the Holy Cross therapy center but no. My dictatorial health insurance carrier said no. I would have to go elsewhere. In a stroke of super good luck I found out about Clear Choice Physical Therapy and I couldn't have been more pleased about it. The owner, Erik Bleeker, who holds a well-accredited masters degree (MSPT) in the science of physical therapy took me under his personal care and what wonders he was able to do with me to get my arm motions back and headed to normal are nothing short of amazing. He carefully explained everything to me and made out a complete plan charting a course for my progressive recovery. I had no idea how involved, how technical, what extensive knowledge and skills are needed but with his help I got to understand them. For those who have never been through this, it isn't easy. You'll need professional guidance or you could tear the whole thing apart all over again. Or if do the wrong exercises accomplish nothing more than freezing the mobility of your rotator cuff up which will put you in real trouble. So I'm passing this Yelp on to you in the event a misfortune might befall you and you too end up in need of physical rehabilitative therapy. Erik has been fantastic in helping me to improve my range of motion and keeping me on a good plan to improve my lower back. I have used Clear Choice Physical Therapy twice after two different doctors strongly recommended that I go to two different hospital physical therapy centers. I went and was shuttled among a number of therapists who were more interested in talking among themselves about their weekend plans than in helping me. Erik, on the other hand, exclusively devotes all his time and attention on one patient at a time. I recently started using Erik Bleeker as my physical therapist while I'm in Florida for my hip, knee, shoulder and elbow. He's been working on my hip and it's been feeling much better. His technique is different from any other physical therapist that I have known. But the amazing thing about Erik's practice is that he doesn't hand you off to an assistant. I have been to many physical therapists in my life, but Erik Bleeker at "Clear Choice" by far exceeds them all! He is extremely well-versed in every area of physical therapy and he is calm, courteous, patient and encouraging. The amazing part of these sessions is that Erik spends an entire hour with each patient with no interruptions! I went to therapist Erik Bleeker for IT band issues. He immediately, within one visit, gave me relief. He isolated my issue ( not only IT band but Psoas muscle, which I've never heard of) and with hands on stretching and therapy it improved immediately. I have to agree with previous reviewers. I hadn't reviewed the practice before now because they didn't have a Yelp profile. I coincidentally bumped into it and I'd like to add to this business' reviews because Erik turned out to be a real breakthrough for my recovery. I was homebound due to a surgery on my femur and the home physical therapy that had been organized by my surgeon's practice was simply not making me improve. I found Erik through my insurance but I couldn't have been happier. His personality, care, and professional demeanor had me sold immediately. The fact that he was in a gym and had the availability of a full fledged gym was definitely a plus, but more so the fact that he is the therapist, and that each and everytime that you make your appointment you are going to see him creates that special trust that is essential for a patient/therapist relationship. I am so thrilled that I was lucky enough to have found Erik at Therapy Clear Choice. I was diagnosed with BPPV a form of vertigo. Erik was able to use the correct maneuver to make my vertigo almost obsolete from the 1st visit. He also taught me to do the maneuvers at home by myself and that is keeping me sane and yes, dizzy free. Erik has the patience and caring attitude that I had yet to find with any of the therapists I have ever seen......all the more reason he deserves the 5star rating. I recently moved to Ft. Lauderdale and was really happy to find Erik Bleeker. I have painful issues with my feet (flat, heel spurs, arthritis in ankles, etc.) which also caused issues with my back, balance and walking. Always in some kind of pain and had difficulty walking without some kind of limp. It was too difficult to do yoga and other exercises which was very frustrating. I have been seeing Erik for 2 weeks and I can already feel SO much relief. My husband commented that I was not limping as much. My discomfort level has improved significantly and I'm more balanced on my feet. Erik's technique is very methodical and he is very knowledgeable and informative. I highly recommend him. I Was referred to physical therapy for a knee problem I have been suffering from for a few months.I found clear choice which was great that they accepted care credit because my insurance wouldn't cover the visits. I am so happy to write a review for Clear Choice and for my therapist Erick Bleeker. I never do this but I am so grateful for the excellent care and empathy I received after my hip surgery. I just had my second total replacement and I am going right back to Clear Choice for my PT. In addition to PT, Erich offered Scar Therapy which was crucial to my healing, after all my scars are 9 inches and 11 inches on both sides. After my first surgery which was in the summer, my scar looks like a thin hair and no one can even notice it. My goal is to have similar results and to walk comfortably and straight. Erick knew my strengths and weaknesses and pushed and inspired me to my limits which I would not expect anything less from a good therapist. He also handled my wound like it was his own with delicate touch and firmness where it needed to dissolve the stitches and scar tissue. No one I know who has had the hip surgery even know what I am talking about when I mention I got scar therapy from Erik, so I have recommended him and Clear Choice to all my friends and colleques who are undergoing hip, knee and other orthopedic surgeries. I highly recommend them for their efficiency dealing with insurance companies and making appointments. I recently began physical therapy for a torn meniscus of my right knee to avert having surgery with Erik Bleeker from Clear Choice Physical Therapy. I chose him because of all the positive reviews I saw online. I have been very disappointed with physical therapy received for other conditions in the past due to the factory like care that is usually given at physical therapy centers, with very little, one on one attention. I live in North Miami Beach and I drive quite a distance to Federal Highway off Cypress Creek Road to have therapy with Erik Bleeker and have been beyond happy. My entire session is spent one on one with him. His expertise, care & attention to your problem is nothing like I have experienced in the past. For 60 minutes he does not leave your side either due to the treatments he is giving or watching that every exercise is done perfectly so not to further injure yourself. In the few sessions we have had, I already have seen improvement with the discomfort of my condition. Without reservation, I would recommend him to anyone for physical therapy.
