I've been going since I was young, and this is my go-to place since my glasses needs to be made specially with one lens using high-index (thinner lens) and one normal because of the large difference in my eyes. Since they do the lenses in-house, they are one of the rare few that can do this for me since most other places send it out and cannot provide this. Also, because they do this in-house, you can get your glasses same day if you really need it rushed. In addition, they have a great selection for frames and their taste in helping you pick glasses have been spot on. Prices also range from cheap to more expensive to suit the variety of customers they have. However, even at expensive, they were always fair in comparison to competition. I would travel back home from North California just to come here because for the same price I paid here for my current Made in Japan frames, I would get a flimsy, cheap, "Made in China" frames with no customization of my lenses up north. My tip though is this place on weekends is generally crowded with people running around in a disorganized fashion. Make sure to keep to one person and follow them. Not all of the people are equally helpful/courteous (especially with some rude customers that would flag your helper down and don't seem to understand the idea of first-come-first-serve). You can actually request to work with a certain person if you happen to find one you like. read more

So my friend referred me here, good selection of glasses but horrible horrible service. I was about to even ask them if they wanted my business anymore. Sat there for over an hour, waited for my prescription to be sent & they said I couldn't try on any glasses frames just to try ....and I was there just to get glasses! My friend came later & ask them, and they just said yeah you can look for it =X ?!*%!?!*@?! Whatevers, the lady there was lazy & didn't want to help us. Usually these type of asian places are pretty helpful & let you know what fits your face & not. She was lazy and like waited for us to yell at her & we're the only ones there. Horrible....I don't want to complain anymore even if theres more to add to why I gave it 1 star. Parking: Plenty in the back. Location: Its right by a bank. Its located more inside so its hard to see from the streets. Store: Was decent size and has a great selection of glasses although their San Gabriel store had even more. Seems like most of their customers are older chinese, or people coming in to get their glasses fixed and such. But yes this place is Chinese (Mandarin). If you don't speak just be prepared to listen closely to their english. Service: As you can tell was the most horrible thing ever. I'm Chinese & had an appointment too! Guess I wasn't pushy enough, usually they help right away because they want your business. Glasses picked up within 1 hour if you have less than 2.00 & no other custom problems but its a day+ if you have 2.00+ degrees with other problems. Price: My friend came to help me bargain. So theres alot of frames you can try to bargain. However there are specific brand names you can't bargain too much but you can still lower it to at least 20% off. I didn't get my glasses here. I got it at the SAN GABRIEL one, which I super highly highly highly recommend to anyone in need of glasses. This has been my first visit to an optometrist in a while. During COVID, the staff was professional and clean. They wore masks, social distanced, and sanitized properly. Very good selection to choose from and we ended up spending quite a bit of time choosing a sunglasses frame that works for me and my prescription. Just left this place with my friend who came here for her eye exam. The doctor was nice but the girls in the front are literally the worst! I don't think they understand what customer service is. The staff are rude and unorganized and when you ask for help they ignore you and was on their phone or talking to each other. How can you ignore a customer when there is no one else coming in? The staff definitely need to be trained. My friend was waiting for her glasses to be tighten up and before she got her glasses back, the girl in the braids told us that we can leave since we are done. Wow! I have been here since I was 12 years old when I first got my hard contacts and Dr. Huang was my primary doctor. She was very nice and gentle and caring and I love her. Fast forward to when I was almost 22 I broke my hard contacts and consulted Dr. Huang to switch to soft contacts and the entire process was extremely smooth. Warning: If you feel strong headache, while you're wearing one of their medical glasses, then GO and SEE a DOCTOR!! I have made two medical glasses, both of them had to be re-done again due to "HUGE" mistake in making the lenses and taking the measurements! The most recent one gave me a severe migraine, with the doctors telling me that the glasses center is made at the top of the lens not at the CENTER!! Avoid them at any cost. I'm so confused as to why there are some bad reviews and not enough 5 stars for Dr. Huang. My experience with her was superb. Dr. Huang is the best optometrist I have ever had and deserves an A+. If you are the type of person with lots of questions, then she is your optometrist. Her explanations are meticulous and logical; she is exceptionally knowledgeable. Though she owns this place, she doesn't upsell, she only recommends what is best for you. You can not find a better optometrist than this. I feel so lucky to have found her that I made my husband switch to her too, and he is very happy as well. It was by random and chance that I ran into Dr. Huang. I have been exposed to all kinds of doctors over the years and have become quite skeptical of them. I don't have strong faith in most doctor's genuinely caring and competencies. To my fortunate surprise, I met Dr. Huang, who cares passionately for her work. She does everything carefully from A through Z, from the exam to rechecking the final order of the frames/lenses after her assistant finalized them. Unlike a lot of other doctors, she is more into QUALITY than QUANTITY, and so she takes her time with every individual patient to make sure everything comes out right. I didn't even think doctors like her exist anymore. She is definitely a hidden gem, and I'm so really puzzled as to the existence of these bad reviews. All I can say is: you guys don't know what you are missing! In addition to the amazing Dr. Huang, her two assistants, Laura and Vina, are friendly and work very hard in helping customers finding the right frames and lenses. Dr. Huang is one of the few doctors with whom I feel cared for. With 90% of the doctors I go to, the visits are never thorough, always rushed, and always met with multiple visits after as their prescriptions never work. With Dr. Huang, she is freaking busy but is so hardworking and caring that she would still examine each patient thoroughly. With her, every aspect of your eyes are inspected. Even with my vision insurance, I rather pay out of pocket and go to Dr. Huang BC she gets shiz done. She helped me convert from 10 years of wearing gas permeable lens which constricts your cornea shape to soft contact lens in order to prepare for my LASIK surgery. She then recommended 3 ophthalmologists she had personal experiences with to do my surgery. My eyes were very severely nearsighted (-8 and -9.25) so picking an experienced surgeon was key! I even went to UCLAS opt dept and the surgeon said he could only correct me to -3. I chose Dr. Berg and with Dr. Huang's recommendation I got a significant discount. A few weeks after surgery, I was told I could see Dr. Huang as my post LASIK care for free for a year. I went there but nope that wasn't true. But she was still curious to see how my eyes were doing so she examined me for that purpose. I love people who love to keep learning but especially health professionals as the health technology keeps improving and changing! A year after surgery I still have corneal scarring. My surgeon said that he doesn't see any but I still saw that at night it significantly impeded my vision. I went to Dr. Huang and she went through all the machines to examine my eyes. She made sure she covered all grounds so that she wouldn't be making any incorrect assumptions. She saw some specks in my eye due to the scarring but wanted to make sure it wasn't from dryness so she dyed my eye slightly to examine it under the blue light. She checked my vision up close and far away and with different lens and astigmatic corrections. She gave a few suggestions on how to increase scar healing - which for a few doctors would be enough but added that she will be going to a few conferences soon as well as ones with LASIK professionals so she will ask about my situation there . wow!! I've been going here with my mom for several years. I decided to come again just because I liked their customer service in the past, especially when selecting lenses and frames. I think this time I was a bit disappointed, though perhaps part of it maybe because I don't speak any Chinese whatsoever. Lol Dx They ended up creating a new file for me which was kinda disappointing but then again, I haven't seen them in over 3 years so I guess that's understandable. The lady that had me fill out the paperwork wasn't very explanatory with the forms or the lenses options. I actually had wanted to dialate my eyes for a more thorough checkup but the clerk had already checked off the waiver saying I wasn't interested in an eye dialation. I ended up talking to the eye doctor, Dr. Tran, in order to get them examined since it's been a couple of years since my last exam. I was hoping Dr. Tran would've given a bit more feedback on my exam and how I was doing compared to my previous prescription but overall I thought she gave good feedback on the healthiness of my eyes and answered some of my questions and concerns that a previous optometrist had made. When selecting the lenses, I already forgotten her name but I was a bit concerned the lady helping was simply trying to get me to pay more. After some research online, it seems like selecting a lens coating with anti-reflective(AR) is more important than having anti-scratch (I'm pretty rough with my glasses) so I was right to resolve to trust her judgement on the issue. I had forgotten to ask if the lenses included the added UV protection but from what I've read online, I believe high index lenses automatically come with UV protection. I guess I'll ask when I go pickup the frames. When picking the frames, was probably where I was most disappointed, I break my glasses pretty regulary, either at the hinges or at the little bar on the nosepad. I wanted to see glasses that had flex-on and was metallic and she only showed me two. I asked twice, "are there any more metal ones besides this one?" and those were the only two she showed me. Maybe she was more interested in finishing setting up the display than helping me select some frames. About her only redeeming quality was she gave me an additional discount on the frames. I'm not really sure what to think overall since this is the first time I went without my mom and since everyone there mainly speaks mandarin I believe there's a huge language barrier issue. I came in recently to get an eye exam and some sunglasses. As soon as I came in, they gave me hand sanitizer and measured my temperature. They also do contact tracing so if anything ever happens, they'll notify me. For my eye exam, I saw Dr. Tran Cheng, she was so nice and detailed, but she only works on Saturdays. Make sure to make an appointment because there's no walk-ins right now. The sales rep, I think her name was Phoenix, was so helpful in helping me pick out frames that matched my face shape. She also gave me a discount which was super cool! Besides that, everyone in the office is welcoming and practicing proper safety measures. Would definitely recommend this place!! read more

No star. Avoid this place. 1. They lost ALL my eye exam records & prescriptions from previous years. I did not aware that when I went in for annual exam few weeks ago. Otherwise I would have gone somewhere else. 2. Optometrist with last name Yang gave me a WRONG prescription. She insisted I should wear 8.4 base curve for the contacts, even though I told her I have been wearing 8.8 for years and feel completely fine. Since they lost my previous records so I could not argue with her. She also gave me a substantially higher prescription than my previous one. When I questioned why my eyes would change so much in only one year, her response was "anything can change, could be any reason." How can you be a healthcare professional if you don't even listen to your patient's concern? After a few days, my eyes were constantly dry and felt something's wrong. So I decided to go to another optometry for second opinion and check up. Found out the prescription was way strong for me and base curve was wrong too. I was horrified by how unprofessional this so-called "Dr. Yang" is. I also noticed Clear Sight has a HUGE turnover on their eye doctors. NONE of the doctors I saw in the past still work there. It says something's off. 3. They screwed up my insurance. I went in for eye exam in December 2011. However, they billed it on Jan 2012. My insurance plan only allows one exam per year. Means if I go to another place for a new prescription within this year, I won't be covered. Fortunately, the other optometry was willing to waive the exam fee and only charged me for fitting. The new prescription fits so much better and I have no problem with it at all. Never go back to Clear Sight! read more

I had such a great experience with this place that I had to write a review for it. My eye exam was thorough, the store has a pretty good selection of glasses, both designer brands and some asian brands, but what really got to me was the service and help that Dr. Huang provided ( I had no idea she was a doctor when she was helping me, since I'd seen a different doctor for the eye exam). Dr. Huang helped me choose my glasses and not only did she help select glasses based on my preferences for the style of the glasses, she also explained why some glasses I picked would not work out (ie-the lenses did not line up to my eyes, etc). I've previously gotten glasses at other clinics or at Costco, and nobody had taken the time to actually make sure that the glasses actually fit according to where my eyes were. My previous glasses I would only wear it late at night before going to bed, and they slipped down my face ( I have no nose bridge). Now, they stay on (even though they have no nose pad stuff) and don't make me headachy after long use! Dr. Huang also took the time to explain my insurance to me, made sure I maximized my insurance benefit before the plan year ended (which was soon), and also helped me out with rebates that were being offered. I also ordered contact lenses through them, and I will say the prices per box (I use Oasys) is comparable to that of Costco or 1800-CONTACTS, before insurance. Also, it helps that this is in network, whereas wholesaler and online retailers aren't). Thanks to Dr. Huang I was able to utilize my insurance and rebate and got a years worth of contacts for $5. OMG! Even if you exclude the benefit of the rebate, I have to say that this place's contacts are sold pretty cheaply. I've been to places where they sold boxes for almost double the price of costco without blinking an eye. This place does everything a regular optometrist's office would - sell glasses, give eye exams, give you free trial contacts, samples, etc - but seriously everything I need to get glasses/contacts now, i'm gonna go down to Socal and do it simply because I know the people here will take care of you and help you deal with & fully utilize your insurance benefits. This outfit has 2 locations: San Gabriel and Monterey Park: (1) Last week, Sharon at San Gabriel quoted $85 by phone to replace my lenses. (2) When I got there, she changed price to $95, then argued to change $95 again to $125 to include high index; she promised to finish it in 7-10 days. (3) I ordered the lenses and was naive to pay in advance in full at San Gabriel. Yesterday, the owner with last name Huang scared me with a lawyer's title, she demanded that I bring my son to Monterey Park to look for Betty for eye exam. (4) Huang promised me that she could order high index when Sharon could not. (5) Today, when we arrived at Monterey Park, I was quite shock to see Huang instead of Betty. Huang then changed again to say that she cannot order high index. She bullied me to sign 2-pages legal paper that she drafted. Why? (6) Huang changed from Sharon's 10 days to more than 30 days to finish the lenses; she said, "Not even guaranteed for 30 days." (7) Huang bullied me and barked at me loudly like a wild dog yelling, "Get your money back." I asked her to reimburse $50 for my gasoline because she acted in bad faith to defraud me. She loudly shouted in front of her employees and customers, "sue me in Small Claims. I have these employees as witnesses." (using employees against 1 customer) That is outrageously anti-customers, vindictive, deceitful, and in bad faith. I agreed with previous reviews regarding her turnover rate is very high, avoid this place. Anyone works for this bully no doubt suffered with great fear and threat like she did to her customers. If I could rate this place zero (0), I would! My family and I were badly ripped off and threatened. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more
