I asked if anyone could help me or had any experience in paint colors and what looks good together. Mike was kind enough to help me and show me what colors look great together and what he would pick. His help was so needed and while the house is in Galena I wish he worked in that area. He showed me photos of a beautiful Victorian he painted and aside from top notch work his character says it all! We exchanged a half-dozen emails over the next 8 months where he confirmed (5 times) the date and time that he would be painting my decks. I will attach photos of them to this review. Four days before they are due to come out he sends me an email and cancels the job. He's found other work more profitable. Now I am stuck for the summer, due to his selfish and unprofessional treatment. Do not take any commitments seriously from this business. They do not honor their agreements. I will be attaching photos of all of his lying emails and agreements. A huge disappointment ... for 8 months I could have been looking for an alternative contractor ... he robbed me of that opportunity through 3 seasons and then dumped me. How dishonest and unprofessional can a person be? Don Carvey also robbed decent, honorable contractors and laborers the opportunity to schedule more work for themselves because Don Carvey thinks only about Don Carvey, 100%, and apparently does not hesitate to lie and cheat others of their time without a second though ... not a nice team player for any community .

I so being new to the area and wanting to have our house painted, I called several folks to come…read moreout and give us an estimate. I have to say, without a doubt, DJ's Painting & Remodeling Services was absolutely the most professional and the most comprehensive estimate that we received. We still need to make a decision about going forward with having the house painted, but I can tell you this, whether we have it painted or not or when we have it painted, we will absolutely be going only with DJ's Painting & Remodeling Services. The owner came out looked at the house, took his time, asked many questions (this house was built in 1870 and an addition was put on about 35 years ago so there was a lot to consider) spent time photographing, and was very interested in helping us with this unique house. The next day I got a call from his office to set up a date for us to come back in and go over the estimate; the best I've gotten from any of the others was an email to estimate or a phone call saying they were interested. We attended the estimate meeting, and were greeted by the staff who were all wonderful and nice, the office is very professional, and we met with the owner himself to go over the estimate. There was one for each my wife and I, along with an assistant to help us look at photographs and pictures as well as even a few color options when going through the estimate. The estimate came in right about where I thought it was going to be, and a little higher than my wife thought it was going to be, but I feel absolutely certain, just based on the experience so far, that they would do an amazing job painting our historic home! We received a follow up call about a week later, and I let them know that we were still looking at timing. So far I have been so impressed with their professionalism, how well their office runs and is managed, The jobs that they were able to show us they had already completed in the area on similar homes, and their commitment to the Bloomington and normal area and it's history, including their office building. I can't wait to have them paint our home in the spring and be able to update this with pictures and more great review information!
