Wells Gray Provincial Park, and its campgrounds within, are one of those gems not many people know about. Most Western (and Eastern alike) Canadians know about the blissful beauty and tourism of Jasper and Banff; And perhaps more popularized areas of BC stretching into Montana.
Wells Gray, more specifically the Clearwater area within it, is one of the most beautiful hiking, tenting, rv camping, boating and fishing retreats I have come across. Chalk full of family-friendly camping experience.
Depending on when during the season you decide to stay here you will encounter many black bears, stocked rainbow trout, fresh air and it is home to some of the most spectacular and clustered waterfalls in all of Canada. It has over 35, not including river run offs, creek downfalls, etc.
For those looking to rent a canoe, do some fishing, take a guided tour or even get in some horse-back riding - This is the place for you.
Check it out! You won't be disappointed if your enjoy a good ol'fashioned backcountry camping experience. If not, family-friendly sites such as Clearwater include showers, pit toilets and neighbouring camps have a playground for the little ones. read more
