I recently took my daughter car to cleggs for a man issue with her transmission that was going to cost more than the car is worth. The people at cleggs treated me with such respect and professionalism even though I made the decision to junk the car. They took their time diagnosing the issue, held my car for a week while I was out of town for business and when I left, they didn't charge me anything for their time. Love these guys. That said I have used them in the past and they did a great job for a fair price. I think it's important to remember when choosing a mechanic that they are typically burdened with giving bad news about your car. This reality often leaves the consumer feeling badly towards those giving the news, which often makes one not trust the messenger. Cleggs rises above and beyond when it comes to that delicate relationship and they will have my business forever. They really are fantastic. I would give them 10 stars if I could !! Not so good: Don't follow up when the car work is "done" or things change - you have to call and check on the status of the work. Don't offer ride or rental for longer repairs. 10/10 service! I went in because my brakes were making some weird noise even after getting them looked at elsewhere. I came to Clegg's and they told me exactly what was going on with my brakes and how much it would cost to get it sounding normal again. They didn't try to rip me off by providing service that I didn't need, they explained the pros and cons for each option they could provide, and let me decide what was most valuable to me. I decided to go with one of the cheaper options but it still took care of the problem. Josh was super kind and friendly and it took less time than I had planned on which was very convenient! Brought a 2014 F-150 in that a) seemed to have a hub vacuum problem (growled when turning/braking) and a severe stuttering problem when RPM got above 3000 and turbos kicked in. They called and said they could t reproduce either problem. OK. The growl and be temperamental but the stuttering is EVERY TIME. They said they would try again. Next day. No call so I call them. Oh. They don't know. Let me call you back. No callback. I call again. Finally, they tell me the problem is that it needs a tune up. What about the hub problem? Dunno. Did you drive the truck and see the stuttering. Uh. No. So how do you know what problem you're fixing? My guys say it needs a tuneup. So maybe the truck does need a tune up. And maybe that would've fixed the problems. But any mechanic that doesn't even try to understand what problem they're fixing before they start fixing it is interested in charging you not fixing problems. And to make matters worse when I pulled in 30 minutes after last conversation they had already started the repair without my authorization. Tells you everything you need to know doesn't it. I would rather have the local high school boys repair my truck than let anyone at Cleggs touch it. I wish I could give this place zero stars. I recently purchased a vehicle from a private party that had Clegg's completely rebuild the AC. Since it was still under warranty and not running cold when parked, I called and asked if they could fix it. They said yes. Wednesday afternoon I brought in my car. I also wanted to get the tires rotated because it pulled to the left and get the headlights calibrated, so I asked them to give me a quote on how much that would be. Since we only have the one car I asked for a loaner, which they agreed to. It was a heap, but whatever. I can live with it. I expected to hear from them by the end of the day about the quote, perhaps even an update on the AC, but that didn't happen. Thursday. By 4 pm I still haven't heard from them, so I called. No quote still and the guy is "working in it right now, he'll call you in an hour". I never got that call. Friday. At this point I'm getting really frustrated with the fact that they have had my car for three days and I have no idea what is happening. The lack of communication is unbelievable. So I call - again - and tell them that I never got a call from the guy working on it despite being told to expect a call. He tells me that they guy went on vacation until next Wednesday, didn't leave any paperwork on what he's done or what he's found out, so this guy on the phone had no idea what is going on. Join the club. I tell him I'm coming in to get my car and that I'll bring it back on Tuesday before they close so that he can work on it first thing Wednesday morning. So the guy says he'll top off the freon and add a dye to see if it leaks anywhere. This part actually appeared helpful. Saturday and Sunday go by, AC acts like it did before I brought it in. 3 days in the shop and there's nothing to show for it. Monday I get in the car and the AC just doesn't work at all. 95 degrees outside. So I take it back, 3 days in the shop and they managed to make it worse. Tuesday. I bring back the car and ask for a loaner again. This guy apparently doesn't "do" loaner cars, but he reluctantly gave us a car...with no AC. Now let me explain a little bit here, I have a 15-month old riding around with me at about the hottest time of year, so AC isn't really an option, it's a must, especially during heavy traffic when a rolled down window does nothing to circulate air. I virtually had to beg the guy to get me a car with AC. He did, we left. Wednesday. It's officially been a week since I brought in my car for repair. And I'm still driving around a loaner. In fact, in driving around I noticed the thermostat was all the way to hot, so naturally I think it's overheating. I pull off the freeway and call Clegg's to ask if this car simply has a broken gauge. The guy who answered didn't know, and that's as far as his help went. But he did say that he would give me a call back to tell me the status of my repair! And I didn't even bring it up! Long story short I find out the gauge was just broken. Oh, also I never got that call to tell me what's going on. It appears he only brought it up because he didn't want me driving the loaner car anymore, but Thursday. At this point I'm livid. They have had my car for a total of 5 working days and I have not gotten ONE CALL FROM THEM. Really? So once again, I call THEM. I find out that since he got back from vacation he hasn't looked at my car once because "he had other cars to fix and couldn't get to it yet". Good thing he went on vacation??? I'm about to lose my mind, but I know there's no point in freaking out about it. I simply tell him to forget the headlights and tire rotation, I just want my car back with working AC. At this point I start to call the OTHER Clegg car shop in Provo to see if they could take it and fix it, only to find out they aren't affiliated with the one in Orem. Yay. Friday. All day, no call. Finally at 5:30 pm, 30 minutes before they close, I get a call from them. FIRST PHONE CALL! I feel as if I've won the lottery. He tells me they fixed the AC "as best as we could", whatever that means. The problem was a leak in the manifold and if it goes out again is because of a hose that isn't covered in the warranty. ....huh. Isn't that convenient? I go pick up the car and there's a puddle the size of my hand underneath the hood of antifreeze. I move the car and it continues to drip. I check the hood, everything seems fine, so only time will tell if they gave me a leak. Running the AC I found out that it is as good as it was before I brought it in. In closing, I wouldn't trust these clowns to fix my bicycle. Absolutely nobody knows what customer service is or how to even run a business. How this place is still open I have no clue. Even the most helpful and kind person there acts as of he could care less. TL; DR - After 9 days of dealing with this place NONE of the repairs I needed took place. Cleggs Car Care - Auto Repair Near Me - Orem, Utah

My little family went to visit friends and family in Utah in early June. Our 2010 FORD Explorers AC went out and we had to get it replaced before we drove 6 hours back to Vegas in the 100-degree weather. Cleggs Care Care was recommended to us, and it seemed great. They got us in and "repaired" the same day, 6/3. I was told the Compressor needed to be replaced and that was what I was told and I gave my verbal consent. It worked fine as we drove home the next day and was just okay for the next two weeks. Mid-June, it was back to blowing hot air, and my kids and I had no AC again in 100-degree weather. I was just able to take it in today, 7/6. The shop here in Vegas said that the shop in Utah made a mess by not replacing the entire kit--information and options never presented to us by Cleggs. Now, I have to have it all replaced again, pay for the inspections again, etc. When I called Cleggs to see what they said and how they would remedy the situation I am now in--paying for the same service twice in just over 30 days--the guy's solution was for me to drive out and they could fix it as it is still under warranty?! Drive 6 HOURS from Vegas to Orem with gas prices as high as they are, no AC for anyone in the car with 100-degree weather, the time off I would have to take from work to make the trip, and the child care I would have to find and pay for so my husband wouldn't also have to take time away from work?! Then, the next solution was for my car shop here in Vegas to get O'Reillys to work with us on their warranty and to maybe save 30% off the part, nothing else?! There was no help from Cleggs, no sympathy, no compassion, no remorse for the situation they have put my family in. I am now out $1000 from their shoddy and unbacked work. I cannot believe that they were recommended to us by family members. And now I've got to figure out how to afford this with cost of living increasing as it is in every category of expenses. Update: The owner claimed that they had too little time to do the job, so they found the main problem and tried to fix it, hoping that would work. I asked why he didn't tell me that upfront so I could have just made the choice to go to the dealership instead and he tried to tell me that the dealership would not have done a good job and would have charged more--yeah, because they would have replaced ALL of the applicable parts, not just some and hope it was good enough. read more

After months of taking it back to have it looked at they decide new engine would be best, I paid more money trusting them to do the job right. Check engine light is still on and car is still at the shop it's been well over 6 months I had hope that if I paid them to fix my car they would do just that. Read the post if you want but in short. Don't trust this company with your vehicle for they will take it out to lunch and leave it a mess. I took my camaro here in hopes they could diagnose a simple ac issue. I was very clear all I wanted was for someone to tell me if the ac needed a recharge or if I would need to potentially repair something more expensive. I also was having some transmission issues. I asked if the could tell me wether or not it was the synchros or something else. They said they could easily and would have it done by end of the day. So I left It there for day came by after work to pick it up and they said they didn't have time to look at it. I was understanding and I decided to leave it over night for them and through the next day. I called them during the 2nd day and the said they would have it done by end of day. So I show up and still not even touched. Last chance I leave it for another day. I call on the 3rd day at 11am the guys says they will get to it. So I call an hour later and the guy says "I can see the mechanic driving it right now". I go to pick my car up at the end of the day and they have zero idea what's going on. Also the mechanic and the guy I usually had talked to were avoiding me and sent a different dude to the front. Now here is the real kicker I get in my car after wasting 3 days on these smucks and there are freaking Cheetos in my car not in a bag Cheetos on the floor and it smells stinky mechanic. Overall: Friendly, overpriced, poor customer service, poor follow through. I hate giving low ratings - I only do it when I think it is important for others to be aware of what they may be getting into. My take is that they are nice guys that take care of people that they personally know but if you don't know them, you may have a terrible experience. I came to Clegg's with high hopes having received high recommendations from a friend who has used them for years. However, ultimately, I'm so disappointed, I don't think I'll even give them another try. I had two different issues I needed to be fixed. I had parts for one of them but didn't have the time and they were great to use my already purchased parts. I called two days early and they felt it was a one day job. I brought it in, they confirmed again they thought it was a one day job but they'd call. They didn't call and when I finally got them before they closed, they said they didn't wrap it up but they'd finish and call me the next morning. No big deal since they sounded close to finishing up. Next morning, they didn't call, so I called around noon and they said they'd need more time until that afternoon. I ignored their commitment to call me because they hadn't done that. When I called back, I was shocked to find that not only had they not finished again, they hadn't even looked at half of the job. In every conversation that I'd had with them, they sounded like they were just about to finish up when in reality, they hadn't even started on half the job. They suggested I leave it another (third) day and when I asked if they could guarantee they'd look at the other issue the next morning, they couldn't commit. What is worse to me, is there was no apology, no interest - just apathy. It seemed clear that they frustrate people all the time and they'd decided not to care about that. HUGE red flag for me. I left the shop paying higher than average prices with much lower than average service. They did half the work I needed but took 3 times as long as they or I expected. Having to find another shop makes this a FAIL for me. Clegg's didn't communicate clearly (and several times didn't communicate at all) to me what they were doing, what timing to expect or how much it would cost. I'd like to think they aren't dishonest but just extremely unorganized and incompetent. read more

I hate to give a bad review, but we brought my husband's car here and they had it for about a week. In that week they found out nothing. They weren't sure why it wasn't starting, so they took it to the dealer.. we brought the car there to avoid the dealer costs in the first place, yet they took it to them to help figure out what was wrong.. we had to pay the dealer for fixing it and also Clegg's for the "diagnostic". Horrible way to do things. Also to top it off we live by Cleggs and while they had the car in their crammed lot they left my husbands window down overnight and it rained! If I could give these guys a negative star rating I would. I have been a loyal customer for the past couple years. Cleggs bought out Freeway Tire Pros in American Fork so they inherited my business through that acquisition. I have had several incidents where they have quoted me pricing and then when I went to pay the charge was much higher. Ex $600 quote that ended up at $780. They worked on my car and claimed to have replaced a coil only to look and find the coil was not new. The last time I went in for service I asked them to charge to AC. They did a diagnosis and said I needed a $2500 new compressor. I took it home and discovered there was no belt - a $20 dollar fix. At that time they were kind enough to leave an invoice from 4 months back stating I had never paid it. I am a cash customer. I always pay at the time I pick up my car. After all this I refused to pay as it seemed suspect. Then I got a call from a collection agency. I went down to speak to them and they were all apologetic and said they would get back to me. Guess what,,,,? Sorry nothing they can do about it. Just pay it or your credit is screwed. Last comment I got from Todd (the manager) was that they bent over backwards for me during my time as a customer. What!!!!? Seriously. I was a customer. Loyal customer and they bent over backwards trying to fix my cars that I happily paid them for? Do not use these guys. There are many other honest options out there. read more

They did change my oil, but didn't put a crushed washer on, so my oil was leaking. I went back in the get them to fix it and also told them the tire pressure light was on. They claimed they checked the pressure and that everything was fine. I checked the pressure and it was all the way down to 20 psi in the rear tire, so it's quite obvious that they didn't check it at all. My car had also had problems with the idle and gas mileage going down When I told the guy behind the counter, I saw the men behind him looking at each other and rolling their eyes, presumably about what I said. I only went to these guys because they offer "discounted" towing through a towing partner. First off, they have way too many cars on their lot. It's nearly impossible to get in and out of there to pick up your car. Secondly, my car was towed there and supposedly needed the alternator replaced. The cost was $600! A few days later, I picked it up and drove it home. The next day it wouldn't start again. They said I should get it towed back to see if it was a problem with the work they did. I called almost every other day to see if they had any news about what was wrong and they seemed to never call me back. Finally a week later they call back and say it was out of gas. The gas indicator was apparently broken so we couldn't tell it was out of gas. Did the alternator even need to be replaced in the first place? Did we just blow $600 and another tow fee because the gas indicator was broken? Maybe. Also, the car started making noises we had never heard before taking it in. All in all, the service was slow and not very responsive and their lot is too full of cars. It's not worth the wait. read more

This place is a joke. I brought my car in once to be looked at, turns out, my crank shaft pully was broken and needed to be replaced. The mechanic quoted me at 800 dollars because they claimed they had to lift the engine. After doing some research, I found the part was only 60 bucks and found someone to do the labor who only charged 50 bucks and did not, or even felt as though they needed to lift the engine out. read more

I've lived in Utah for several years, never needing to have much done to my car. Because I've been out of state, I haven't needed a smog in a while. If you mention the special listed above (free safety inspection with emissions test), then Cleggs is definitely the most affordable game in town. But my car didn't pass smog. Clegg's was very helpful. They discussed the problems with me, made sure I understood, took care of it the same day, and came in under what was quoted. They even re-smog'd my car for no additional charge. I was happy with my experience at Cleggs, but just because I have a Volkswagen, I may try a german/foreign auto specialist next time. But if I can't find one with decent reviews, I'll definitely come back to Cleggs if for nothing else than their honesty. read more

To pass emission they charged 600.00 they said they changed the crankshaft sensor and electrical wire. Then I took my car to another mechanics because the check light was ON. Then the mechanics told me they need to replace the crankshaft sensor. So I went to autozone and ask for a price for crankshaft sensor $70.00 so I did it myself total cost me $110.00 I charged myself $40.00 a dinner in Costa vida with dessert and my wife. I feel sad about elderly people that goes to cleggs and get scam-rob. Elderly people they just live with social security and cleggs take away their money what a rip off. I took my Jeep Cherokee to Clegg's Car Care to have a flywheel replaced. I called to check on it a couple days later and they couldn't find it. It seems that they left the keys in the ignition overnight and it was stolen from their lot. Two weeks later, the Provo Police Department found it in a muddy catch basin with the windows broken out of it. They towed it out and impounded it. I went and got it and had it cleaned up before I called Clegg's and told them what had happened. They offered to repair the broken windows as well as all the other damage caused by their negligence. I took it back to them that day. That night, after closing, I drove by their lot to check on it. I found it unlocked with the keys in the ignition AGAIN!!! I took the keys and left. The next morning I went back and told them I was there to pick up my vehicle. They couldn't find the keys for it! I told them, I already have the keys. I will send you the bill for the repairs when I have them done at another shop, or you can speak with my attorney. These guys might be good mechanics, but I never got a chance to find out because I didn't make it past their massive negligence problem!! I do NOT recommend Clegg's Car Care. read more

I had a terrible experience here, I had them do my alignment and check the car to make sure everything was okay. I got brand new tires after this but a couple months later those new tires were worn completely on one side. So I took the car back, they kept my car overnight just to see what was going on and they didn't call me to let me know they hadn't looked at it. The next day I ended up having to take several breaks at work to call them to see what was up with my car and they blew me off several times saying the mechanic that looked at it wasn't there and they'd call me back. Obviously they didn't. Finally they said nothing was wrong with it and when I came to pick it up they blamed the tires, saying it was worn all the way across, even though it definitely was only on one side and I the people who replaced the tires afterwards even noticed that. They also tried to blame me asking if I drove aggressively or burnt out my tires on purpose. I will never go back here, something went wrong here and I replaced my tires way before their expiration, considering I only drive to work and back, because of it. It cost me a lot more than it should've and they weren't considerate or willing to take any responsible. They made it all an awful experience. read more

Took my car in at 8:30 in the morning to have it looked at, he said it would be looked by the end of the day. End of the day comes, no call. Next morning I call at at Ten, No answer. I call again at 1 pm, they answer and put me on hold for 5 minutes. When they finally pick up tell me how much it will cost to fix something (more than it should have been). I think about it for a while and agree. He says they should be able to finish it that night. I call back at 6pm they say oh well they just pulled it in to work on, it should be done tomorrow morning. I say ok and then no call. So i call at 1 and they say oh we are just finishing but the original problem you brought it in is still happening as it is just a sensor. That will take us 5 minutes to replace as well as the cost of it plus 30 for that 5 minutes of labor. While the people are actually pretty friendly their overall customer service completely sucked. 5 days to fix something else and then to tell me they can fix the original problem for a lot cheaper and in 5 minutes. I'll let you decide if you want to take your car to them but as for me they will never get my service again. read more

The whole experience was odd. The employees weren't helpful and they acted like they hated their jobs. I don't blame them. The guy in front of me complaining about his inaccurate invoice should've been a red flag. My repair was simple, but they wanted to charge me 15 dollars more than they said before I came in. There's a lot of auto shops in Orem/Provo so Cleggs should step up their game. Unfortunately for them, they lost another customer. I'm sure they're happy to get that single payment from a customer even though they decide to not come back, but Cleggs fail to realize they would make so much more money if they didn't chase their customers off! Overall, the customer service is one star because they just don't care. And the pricing is one star after dishonest pricing. It's just a typical careless and dishonest auto shop that will inevitability drive themselves into the ground. read more

My family has worked with Cleggs for years, and have always had a great experience. Just the other day, we were on our way to a family vacation and were already running late when the tread on one of our boat trailer's tires peeled off. It was late in the evening and we had no hope that anyone with a suitable jack would be available to help us - however, when we drove by, we saw Kyle Clegg just as he turned off the light closed the door. We pulled over and explained the situation, and without a second thought he put his evening on hold to lend us his jack and replace the ruined tire so we didn't have to drive down the state without a spare - all with incredible generosity. I would describe my experience with Clegg Car Care as a nightmare. We drove our car to their Orem shop and a month later towed it to the Doug Smith AutoPlex in American Fork to have it properly repaired. The car was actually worse after they worked on it. Management communication is the worse I have ever seen in a running business. They never had concrete information for us, ordered wrong parts, and once actually told us the car ready and when we went to pick it up told us it wouldn't start. I have heard them tell customers that their car is beyond repair. If you are one of these unfortunate people, please know all cars are repairable, just not at Cleggs. They did let us borrow a car to drive, but it overheated and broke down on the freeway. Their mechanics are not specially trained to deal with all car issues. All they can seem to handle are spark plugs and coil replacement. To boot, their parking lot is an absolute mess and navigation is not worth the trip. Will absolutely never go back. The worse car repair experience I have ever heard of. Also, sadly, we discovered the dealership charges just as much as Cleggs. Why go there at all, when the dealership can give you better treatment, service, and quality for the same price? read more

I brought my truck in for a starting issue with a full tank of gas. They said the problem was a fuel pump and I asked if they were sure because it drives fine. They told me they were sure and that's why it didn't start well. I gave them permission to fix the fuel pump for the 600$ they were charging. When I came to pick the truck up, they jump started my truck and told me it was just fine. I then drove it home and noticed my tank was on empty, then it started having fuel pump problems. I noticed they left the window off track and left it that way. I still have a starting issue and I replaced the battery again and the starting problem was fixed, but was still having problems with the fuel pump and gas gauge. Cleggs won't fix the problem that they created and also told me that I had my truck towed onto their lot, when I had drove it in. My truck had passed safety and emissions a month prior to taking it to them and now it doesn't work. read more
