On a bluff overlooking city of Draper, these folks have a lot of good things going on. First off, they have a beautiful facility, clean and well-maintained. The unique thing about this restaurant is they fill several different dining and drinking niches under one roof. There is a large parking lot with plenty of free parking spaces. Once you park your vehicle and head in the door, you'll find a comfortable waiting area where the hostesses will greet you. This is where you need to make a big decision. You can go to their sports bar. You can go to their sushi bar. You can go to their indoor dining room. You can even go to their outdoor patio. Between all that, there are some miscellaneous lounging area as as well. A lot of choices! On this visit we ate on the patio. I had a French dip sandwich and fries. Both items were terrific. My wife had the fish tacos... Loved them. That was just an informal Sunday supper for us. Their menu goes deep, so you'll have to check it out for yourself. I have been wanting to go to Cliff Dining Pub for a while--I regret how long it has taken me to finally pay a visit! When I first walked into the restaurant, bar seating was offered so I said "sure" but I didn't realize the patio was open so then we requested to be moved out there. It was windy but the views were oh-so worth it! I did find it funny that they had so many different options on their menu. Typically a business can only be good at a certain number of things--not everything. Which would make sense in this case because the food seemed to be a bit mediocre at best--nothing that spectacular. The food was all good, but it wasn't as incredible as it was made out to be. The tacos we ordered had marinated chicken, coleslaw and a drizzle of sauce over the top, but still seemed to lack in flavor quite a bit. I eat steak very frequently and I thought a place like this would have some killer prime rib but it was really just okay. I also get margaritas frequently and I found this one to be one of the lesser ones I have had. It literally tasted better when it was watered down. The lava cake at the end was probably my favorite part. It came out hot and had a perfect chocolatey flavor. I do agree that it is pretty pricey, especially for the quality. The two tacos that were ordered were $15. I have definitely had better for less. I would love to go back, just to try some of their other options and see if they are any good. They had some pastas I was eyeballing and their sandwiches/burgers might be good! Food: Food is fine. It's good, priced alright for the portion sizes. Went on Mother's Day and had a pretty poor experience with other capacities of this restaurant. Service: Our server was friendly, but a space cadet. We saw him maybe 20 minutes into when we originally sat. I had to go seek out a waiter to assist us. He took our orders and 10 minutes later returned saying that he lost our ticket and needed to take our orders again. 10 MINUTES LATER?? Food came out and we had wrong order. Go figure. Took us about an hour from sitting to having food on our table. Unacceptable. He has maybe 4 tables in his section. Not very busy. Ambiance: Fine ambiance, the staffing clearly has communication challenges. Was hopeful the waiter would significantly help with the bill due to so many challenges. He did help some, but nowhere near sufficient. No tip left. I saw him about 3 times in 90 minutes. He didn't do his job. Do not plan on returning. read more

Just finished dinner with my daughter. Wanted to go somewhere a little nicer. I was so disappointed. I ordered the spinach berry salad with steak. Everything about it was bland. The dressing had no flavor, same for the pecans and most disappointing of all was the steak I paid extra for on top. No taste and hardly any berries or nuts. The cheeses balls would've been a nice addition had they been good. My daughter ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. She too was very disappointed. Go for the cocktails and fries - eat somewhere else. I don't know how a restaurant with so much potential can give such a consistently poor experience. If you're in Draper, the allure of a restaurant that feels like it belongs downtown is really strong - which is why I've been probably 7 or 8 times. You go in and immediately the place feels classy - it must have cost a fortune to build and everyone seems professional. The menu reads incredibly. Sophisticated flavors and techniques, but familiar enough to be really approachable. It takes forever to decide on the menu because you want to try everything! But it's a ruse. First, I've never had good service. Ever. And I don't understand why - it's not busy, our orders aren't difficult. You will generally not see your server for 15 minutes at a time. You'll want drinks, or water, or a side of ketchup, or utensils; you'll get none of these things. At least one person in my party always gets the wrong item delivered to them. And they'll always entirely forget at least one thing you ordered. I was even given a coupon for a free app one time for that reason, and I came back next time and the same thing happened! The food... I don't know who these people are with glowing reviews. Probably too caught up in the patio view, nice furniture, and generally nice plating to realize it's entirely mediocre. Risotto looks and tastes like it was made yesterday and reheated. Fried chicken is mostly flavorless, but comes with a good potato. Brussel sprouts are deep-fried until they're burnt. Pasta dishes lacking flavor. French dip overall sad and disappointing. Salads unbalanced. Also, my friend got the fish and chips, and they give you half a lemon with it - they could not be bothered to give you a fresh half lemon, they give you one they have used for zest on other plates, so it's covered in white patches from where it had previously used (and from the looks of it they aren't good at zesting lemons...) To me, having been a cook, it feels like the people they have in the kitchen just don't have the skills to produce the menu. And the servers just don't seem to have the experience to be good at their job. I'd give it 3 stars because it's not all crap, but it's also pretty expensive, so you pay a lot for the disappointment. Also, when you look around, the decor is slowly degrading. Holes in the patio covering, restroom sink separating from the wall, faucets act funny, patio fire pit cracking the separating; overall feeling of neglect, which also pervades everything else going on in the place. I had to change my review after of going there last night. I had a larger party, made a reservation for it. More people came than expected which was only 3-4 people more. Our server was very rude about it. Told us that if one more person showed up he wouldn't do it. I've been in the restaurant business as well, and if you're upset because you have a large table which you'll get a big tip on, since the tip is included for a larger party, then maybe don't work there or ask for another server to help you. I was pretty upset of how the service was, the food was incredible, but this server we had, was having an anxiety attack with the table. I think he should of had some help, or just given the table to someone who was actually going to be polite and be able to handle it. read more

My sister had rented a private room for our sweet 16 birthday party about 20 people and we had two or three servers and let me say these girls rocked it!!! Last year we did the same thing but they put us in the private room with another party and it was awkward. These servers never left us wanting anything. Cucumber cocktail is very good and so is the sangria. For dinner I had the prime rib medium and it was cooked perfectly. My son had the salmon not blackened and it was very fresh and good. Mashed potatoes were warm not hot but I just dipped it in the aus jus, perfect. Nachos are good along with the spinach dip. I mean everything was delicious. It was nice to get out of downtown and try a familiar place in draper. Nice views. Great patio in the summer and a happening bar with all the draper folk. The atmosphere here is really what you're paying for! The views are really pretty and the service was really great. I didn't think that the food was anything amazing. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I tried a BBQ flatbread and it fell... flat. The meat was fatty and the sauces didn't really work together for me. I also tried the stroganoff and did not like that and another pasta dish that felt very bland. I don't feel like the prices reflected the quality of the food. Probably won't go back. read more

I have to give this place five stars. First of all the hostess was warm and welcoming as soon as we entered the lobby. They seated us quickly. It was like nearly 20 of us. The location has a beautiful scenery as well. The decor reminded me of an expensive restaurant back in NY. They have live music on Wednesday's. That too was amazing. Service was excellent. The menu had so much to choose from. I think we got one of every appetizer. Let's break those down! The Cast Iron Burrata: roma and grape tomatoes, served in a hot cast iron pan, topped with creamy burrata, fresh basil, parmesan, and a sweet balsamic reduction; served with crispy ciabatta. This was so good! Next time. I'll get some extra balsamic as it was so so good. The Coconut Shrimp: these were huge; five pieces; served with a sweet and spicy ghost pepper dipping sauce, the breading and coconut all blended very well. The Calamari was so good, that when it got down to the end of my table; let's just say that it stayed there. The Spinach Dip didn't last long. This appetizer had a spinach with artichoke and mozzarella in a cream sauce, served with toasted crostini. I'm not one to eat spinach, but those crostinis were nice and buttery. Then there was the Sushi Nachos which had spicy tuna sashimi and crab salad tossed in sriracha aioli, served over crispy fried wonton papers, eel sauce, cilantro, green onion, and tempura crunches. I don't eat raw fish, but there weren't any left on my end of the table. So tells me that were good. I'm only speaking from my end of the table at this point. A few people had the blackened Salmon. This had a nice cajun spice over garlic mashed potatoes and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, in a lemon butter sauce. I had the Steak and Fries which was 10oz grass-fed strip steak, topped with a fried egg and Argentine chimichurri, served with bleu cheese, Cliff fries, sea salt & fresh cracked pepper This was very flavorful and the juice from the steak hit the fries and it was a wrap. I was very satisfied. Two people had Ramen, serbed in a boat like bowl. With their signature broth, tender pork shoulder, shitake mushrooms, bean sprouts, scallions and a poached egg. Almost forgot - the came out witj a dessert rack and you got to choose which one they'll prepare for you. I went with the Vanilla Bean Butter Cake Decadent vanilla cake coated with raw sugar and filled with a sweet vanilla bean butter sauce. Served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and fresh raspberry coulis. My my my. One of the best butter cakes that I've ever had. Over all the experience was satisfying. read more

Cliff Dining Pub, well done. I've lived in Draper for a while, but I always heard mixed reviews about Cliff Dining Pub, so I never went. Then I had friends suggest it for brunch.... Why in HELL had I not gone sooner?!?! I got one of the brunch items that was eggs, bacon, cheese, country gravy with home fries. It was killer! So then I knew I needed to try out dinner here. First let me say that the restaurant is beautiful! Modern, clean lines, warm colors, beautiful views, friendly and helpful staff. It's the kind of place you can get a little dressed up for if you want, or show up in super casual clothes. Whatever you're most comfortable with! This place can get packed, so I highly suggest making a reservation in advance if possible. Anyway, on to the food! We started with the Chips & Queso, which is crisp corn tortilla chips with house-made chorizo and beef queso, topped with pico de gallo and finished with chopped cilantro. It was much more addictive than I thought it would be. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we had to get extra chips! Then I ordered the Lemon Chicken Pasta rigatoni tossed with grilled free-range chicken breast, Daily's bacon, artichoke hearts, lemon zest, basil, mushrooms, and roasted garlic, in a roasted tomato cream sauce, garnished with seasoned arugula. It was refreshing, filing, but not too heavy or dense. I would order it again in a heartbeat! But there were SO many other menu items I would love to try. Then dessert time... They have trays full of all their dessert items for you to see and choose from. Initially my thought is that the dessert trays are kind of cheesey. But then you actually see the desserts, and I completely changed my mind from what I thought I was going to order. The Creme Brulee looked to irresistible! It was everything I hoped it would be! Some itemsb on the menu are slightly pricey ($20-$30 for an entree) but most of the menu items are under $20. But truly, it all seemed very reasonably priced. This place is in my top 5 favorite restaurants in the Salt Lake valley! Draper definitely lacks decent, locally-owned restaurants, so I am so glad Cliff's is so close to where I live! The staff has always been so friendly, attentive, and great at recommending things to try. I cannot recommend their Bourbon pork chops or sushi nachos enough! They are definite must try dishes! The drinks are also very good! I finally found a place that makes a decent Old Fashioned! If you are able to grab a seat on the patio, it's a must! The view is amazing! read more

Myself and another person at our table ordered the prime rib. Came back completely rare. We ordered it medium. We once again had to wait forever and finally my wife asked someone else to get out check, they must know something was going on with our waiter Scott because she automatically comp'd us an appetizer without us saying anything. I asked our server if they had run out of biscuits, but apparently the Cliff Dining Pub qualifies plain white bread toast as a biscuit The restaurant was also pretty dirty in general, and had building repair issues like paint chipping off the wall. read more

My family and I came here last night spontaneously wanting to treat our selves to dinner--just because. We arrived at about 5:45 pm and were seated immediately. Without going into a tangent, I will say the food was excellent, and the reason for the two stars is the service our waitress (Candice) provided. As soon as we sat down, I showed Candice a picture found on yelp of their happy hour specials and inquired if we could still make an order given it was 5:52 pm. Candice doesn't have an answer, so she says she'll check with the boss. 6:10 pm, she comes back with our happy hour specials. Our immediate thoughts were that was super strange, my husband does note that she made a face when I inquired about the specials. I didn't observe her face, so I won't comment on that. After enjoying our starter meals, I realized we haven't received our complimentary bread (I made an assumption this restaurant has complimentary bread, given the yelp photos). We put in our entree orders, and there is still no bread :( Well, at this point, considering every single party around us has bread, I do the only natural thing I can do and find the common denominator and outlier. Common denominator= all the guests were WHITE, outlier= black family of four. It's hard to think that Candice treated us poorly because of our skin color, maybe she's just incompetent? I kindly mentioned that our table was missing complimentary bread, and she, ofcourse, acted surprised and went on her merry way to fetch us some. Thank you? Lastly, their kid's menu states, "All kids menu meals come with a vanilla or chocolate ice cream." Candice, where is their icecream???! I was so irritated at this point that I knew if I said something, she would have taken me to a place I did not want to go. The only thing I regret is giving Candice a tip (a generous one). My POC, I will not tell you to not eat at this establishment, but I will ask you to do better than me and speak up, act up, and don't tip when you're treated this way. read more
