I love you Decathlon!…read more Decathlon makes me sporty. OK - so I am (was) anything but sporty. But living next to Decathlon has forced me to become a (half) Marathon runner and a regular hiker. Decathlon does a great job of selling. Products are among the most competitively priced and the quality is not too compromised on either. For some reason, I always thought otherwise. Maybe because it's French? They never run out of stock for some reason. Good inventory management. The staff is very friendly. I have almost never had trouble finding what I need. They've always gone that extra mile to make sure I get what I'm looking for. Really glad to have Decathlon for a neighbor.

They also have sports equipment footballs, tennis rackets' etc. Upstairs is mores specific in your sporting needs in terms of wear or equipment so you will have individual sections for hiking, camping e, gym/running , football, cycling, golf, cricket etc. I came here to get trainers for cycling and their are none and the sales assistant advised me to get karimoors running trainers instead which have a better grip for the pedals. I also was able to find some cheap running top for a fiver. I do love how cost effective Sports Direct and you will always find a bargain they seem to have a Sale all year round. I still have my black Reeboks classics I bought for around £35 two year ago still going strong. The store is clean and well organised and could have better changing rooms but oh well! Good prices on the fly tying and flys them selves, but rods and reels quite expensive, high quality though. Worth the money to spend, with a large budget though. As the noon day sun began to beat down it became outrageously warm and suddenly walking anywhere was a dreadful idea. It was so very, very hot. First thing I noticed was despite how empty it was and how we were outnumbered 4:1 in salespeople to customers I was astonished at how we were soundly ignored. The salespeople were younger and much more interested in talking about an upcoming trip then they were in us - that is until we went downstairs where we were followed purely out of suspicion and to keep an eye on us. One pair of trousers can only be folded and refolded before it becomes comical and a tad insulting. The store, much like everything else, wasn't the original tenants and need to put some TLC into the place around the windows and entrance where there appears to have been a leak and the plaster and paint is peeling. It isn't an attractive look. They do have a solid selection of merchandise. The upstairs has men and what constitutes as women's clothing, the main floor has some more clothing and fishing rods, and downstairs has waders and fly fishing equipment. It was decent but it didn't have the best atmosphere. The A/C was absolutely fantastic though!

Prior to its arrival at Southside, I was unfamiliar with Decathlon. It had been there for a couple…read moremonths, before I ventured in to peek around, wary from most all previous life experiences with sporty/outdoorsy stores. I was surprised. It was different. A mecca of own-brand + nice branded items for all sorts of athletic pursuits from walking and running to cycling, yoga, all sorts of sportsball apparatus, etc. for women, men, & children. It's a bit like a Lidl, but nicer, for sporty stuff. When shopping for a helmet and lock for my new foray into biking in the city, the cycling department staff were really helpful and kind. Even though I had lots of questions, they happily helped. Each department seems to have knowledgeable staff. Prices here are great. Very affordable and incredibly competitive. The store is quite big, spread over 2 floors. My only complaint is the checkout staff seem to always be aloof and the opposite of the helpful staff from the rest of the store. But, apart from that, I think this shop is a keeper.

Once, I wanted to buy a pair of shoes and I had that poor salesman fetch me more than a dozen different shoes in various sizes. In the end, I told the poor guy that I needed to think some more before making a hasty decision. (I did go back a couple hours later though, as I just couldn't stop thinking about that one particular pair ;-) I highly recommend!

The owner was unfriendly and downright rude when I asked questions. He seemed more interested in his cup of tea and newspaper than my custom.
